Chapter 751: Chapter 751: [Side Story] Picked Up a Huge Bargain
Sheng Ning’an also felt that she might have been too tense.
She just had never taken care of anyone before and was afraid of not doing it well.
When they left the cinema, it had actually started to snow again.
The snow seemed particularly plentiful this year, having fallen in several batches already.
Sheng Ning’an had already taken the doll from Xu Weiran’s hands and was holding it herself, her reasoning was that she wanted to hold his hand.
Xu Weiran couldn’t refuse.
The two didn’t immediately return to their place of residence, instead, they walked hand in hand through the streets.
The man was tall and handsome; the woman was beautiful and charming—a walking work of art.
…
In the blink of an eye, Sheng Ning’an had already spent half a month at Xu Weiran’s place; Xu Weiran had gone back to work at the research institute two days prior.
Before the end of the year, the institute had assigned him two students; he only had to oversee them, so he didn’t need to do the work himself.
Now, Sheng Ning’an didn’t have to stay at his place every day. When Xu Weiran went to work, she would run home and then learn to cook with Qin Suxin. She would then deliver lunch to Xu Weiran at noon. Nearly everyone at the institute was now familiar with Sheng Ning’an.
Carrying a thermal lunch box, Sheng Ning’an got out of the car at the entrance of the research institute and called Xu Weiran. It wasn’t long before she saw Xu Weiran coming out, followed by the two students assigned by the institute.
As soon as they saw her, they greeted her warmly, “Hello, ‘Shimu’!”
“Shimu, are you here to deliver lunch to Mr. Xu again?”
Both were Jing University graduate students, older than her, yet they called her “Shimu.”
At first, Sheng Ning’an felt embarrassed but after hearing it a few times, she gradually got used to it and could even greet them with a smile, “Would you like to sit down and eat with us? I brought a lot today.”
“Really? Can we?” They seemed tempted at the offer.
“Of course, you can!” Sheng Ning’an said with a smile.
“Well then, we won’t be polite.”
They went to fetch their meals and then squeezed in next to Xu Weiran.
Sheng Ning’an laid out all the food and soup she had brought.
The two were quite at ease and didn’t hold back, complimenting as they ate, “Shimu, you’ve got good skills. Mr. Xu is really lucky—no wonder he doesn’t want to eat at the cafeteria with us.”
Sheng Ning’an enjoyed their talk, “It tastes good, right? But this isn’t my cooking; it’s the craftsmanship of our family’s elder lady. Ever since I was young, I’ve always loved eating her cooking the most.”
“That’s Mr. Xu’s good fortune, to have found you as ‘Shimu’.”
Sheng Ning’an glanced at Xu Weiran and said, “What you’re saying does make some sense.” After all, he was eight years her senior; having her as a girlfriend sure seemed like a huge bargain.
After they finished eating, Xu Weiran escorted Sheng Ning’an out.
“School starts tomorrow, and once it does, I’ll need to move back into the dorms. You’ll be okay living alone, right? Should I ask your aunt and uncle to come and take care of you for a while?”
Freshmen were required to live in dormitories unless there are exceptional circumstances; Sheng Ning’an couldn’t keep using her boyfriend’s need for care as an excuse to stay away.
Yet his injuries hadn’t healed, and living alone would definitely be inconvenient.
Xu Weiran looked at her helplessly, “Sheng Ning’an, your boyfriend only hurt his hand, he’s not disabled. You don’t need to worry so much.” He could work and take care of himself.
Although it might be inconvenient, it didn’t affect his ability to live.
Sheng Ning’an said, “Alright then!” It seemed she had been overly concerned.
“I will keep bringing you lunch, but it looks like we’ll have to eat at the cafeteria every day from now on,” she said.
