Chapter 863: Chapter 863: [Extra] Different Thoughts
Sheng Ning’an handed over the neatly printed documents to her former colleague, picked up her belongings, and left the Company under everyone’s gaze.
Everyone in the secretarial department watched her figure, each with different thoughts.
As expected, a newbie just entering society, completely self-centered, not caring about anyone.
Shi Zhen watched her leave, a barely noticeable smile on her lips.
The female colleague who was just rejected by Sheng Ning’an had a sullen expression. Even an intern dared to be so arrogant. Could she truly believe that just because Assistant Zhao had her back, she could stand firm in the secretarial department?
She would teach her well what it meant to have the attitude of a newcomer.
As soon as Sheng Ning’an left the Company, she saw Xu Weiran standing downstairs.
"What are you doing here?"
Xu Weiran pulled a bouquet from behind him and handed it to her, saying, "Here to pick up my girlfriend after work. How was your first day as an intern? Getting used to it?"
"It’s okay!" Sheng Ning’an took the flowers from his hand, a hint of surprise in her eyes.
Though they had been together for so long, Xu Weiran rarely gave her flowers—perhaps a common trait among science and engineering guys, lacking in romantic gestures and more practical. Rather than giving flowers, he might prefer cooking for her.
Seeing her expression, Xu Weiran guessed, "What, did someone bully you?"
"Not really!" Sheng Ning’an was mentally prepared; the little tricks played by the others didn’t count as bullying, and besides, they didn’t succeed.
Seeing she didn’t want to talk about it, Xu Weiran didn’t press further.
Opening the car door, he said, "Let’s go!"
"Where to?" Sheng Ning’an inquired.
Xu Weiran: "It’s your first day interning today. I’m taking you out for a meal to reward you."
Sheng Ning’an opened the passenger door and got in the car, Xu Weiran walked around to the other side to get in, watched Sheng Ning’an fasten her seatbelt, and then started the car.
Sheng Ning’an originally thought he would take her out to eat, but unexpectedly, Xu Weiran drove back to the Xu Family’s home.
"Why did we come to your house?"
Xu Weiran smiled and said, "My parents heard it was your first day interning, and insisted on having you over for dinner. Besides, nothing beats my dad’s cooking."
"But I didn’t prepare anything."—It was considered impolite to visit someone empty-handed, her upbringing told her so since she was a child.
"It’s not like you’re an outsider, what do you need to prepare? They’re just happy you came." Xu Weiran said, directly holding her hand and leading her inside.
Mother Xu greeted her with a smile, "An’an, you’re here, quickly, come sit and rest for a bit, dinner will be ready soon." Then she urged towards the kitchen, "Mr. Xu, our son and An’an are back, hurry up a bit."
"Almost ready!" Mr. Xu’s voice responded from the kitchen.
"I should go help Uncle." Sheng Ning’an felt it inappropriate to just sit and wait, especially coming empty-handed, and headed toward the kitchen.
Mother Xu pulled her back saying, "No need to help, just sit down."
Xu Weiran, seeing this, chuckled and said, "I’ll go instead. You sit here and chat with my mom." With that, he headed to the kitchen.
Mother Xu pulled Sheng Ning’an to the sofa and sat her down, "Ranran told me you started your internship at the Company today. The first day of work must be tiring, right? I specially asked your uncle to make chicken soup with Astragalus for you. Have more and replenish your strength."
"Thank you, Auntie." Sheng Ning’an didn’t have the heart to say she actually spent most of the day sitting around and wasn’t tired at all.
