While the domestic business was in full swing, what was our Boss Huang He doing?
He had already arrived in the United States, nominally on a tour of the industries he had invested in, a perfectly normal procedure. However, in reality, no one knew that Huang He’s true objective was to find someone.
“How is it, have you found the person on the document for me?” In a rather dim office, Huang He asked someone calmly.
The person being questioned was an American private investigator. Upon hearing Huang He’s question, the private investigator painfully ran a hand through his hair and said, “Sir, the person you’re looking for is incredibly difficult to find. I’ve searched half of New York and still haven’t found the person you need.”
“No, you must be able to find them. I can pay more!” Huang He said calmly.
“Ahem, if that’s the case, give me another three days. I’ll find a way to infiltrate the American official database to help you search for your target… But you know, this requires a massive amount of ‘greasing the wheels’ fees, what do you say…”
“Just tell me a number.”
“100,000 US dollars.”
“No problem!” Huang He said without hesitation. “But you only have three days. If you can’t find this person within three days, you won’t get a single cent of this 100,000 dollars.”
“Rest assured, unless there’s no one like this in the entire United States, I will definitely find them for you!” The detective patted his chest and guaranteed it. Huang He nodded and left, leaving the detective alone, looking at the document in his hand and pondering. He muttered to himself, “How can there be someone with such strange requirements in this world? And this person is made so mysterious, not only wearing a mask and using a voice changer when speaking, but even their figure is fake!”
The detective shook his head, but he had no interest in his employer’s identity. What interested him was only finding a way to quickly complete the employer’s objective and get the extra 100,000 dollars, which was the most important thing.

“Oh, beautiful Mademoiselle Versailles, why do you look so flat and dirty today?” At a sewer entrance in New York, Versailles heard a voice that filled her with dread.
Then, the relief bread she had just received was violently snatched from her hands and thrown to the ground. A pair of dirty boots then stepped on it, fiercely stomping on the once beautiful bread several times.
The bread immediately became flat and dirty, covered in black mud mixed with the unique sewage from the sewer.
However, Versailles’s expression remained unchanged, because the same scene had happened countless times, and she was already accustomed to it.
“Here! Don’t feel sorry, eat this precious bread, you disgusting pervert!” The bread was kicked back to Versailles’s feet. Without hesitation, she picked up the bread and stuffed it back into her mouth.
Even though the bread was so dirty that eating it might kill her, if she didn’t eat it, she might be beaten to death. The same experience had happened more than 10 times. Although Versailles had miraculously survived each time, she couldn’t guarantee that she would survive this time.
“Hahaha! Disgusting fool, remember, this is God’s punishment for you unclean people!” After watching Versailles eat the dirty bread, the perpetrator said fiercely. Versailles nodded, and then the perpetrator left triumphantly. Versailles silently lay down on her only small bed.
“This is great!” Versailles had a smile on her face. “Not only did I not get beaten today, but my home wasn’t messed up either. Today is a lucky day, God still loves me!”
With a smile, Versailles fell asleep. When she woke up, she wanted to check her time, but found that her watch had disappeared, likely picked up by a passing homeless person.
But it didn’t matter, she had found the watch from someone else anyway, so she could go out and find another one.
Versailles struggled out of the sewer and looked at the bright city outside. Normally, she wouldn’t be allowed out until night, but Versailles was feeling a bit unwell now, perhaps due to the dirty bread from last night. So she felt she needed some antibiotics.
Getting antibiotics wasn’t difficult. The US government provided basic medical care for homeless people like them, and antibiotics were readily available, provided she could find a way to quickly pass through the brightly lit areas like a dirty rat.
At first, Versailles was very successful, only two blocks away from the place where she could get medicine.
But Versailles was also very unlucky, because she witnessed a crime. An old man had fallen to the ground, hot blood flowing from his stomach, and beside him were two police officers holding guns.
Oh, what a tragedy!
Versailles muttered, and then prepared to leave quickly. She had seen too many such things; leaving quickly was the best option.
Unfortunately, the police had already noticed her.
“Stop right there, hands up immediately!” the police commanded. Versailles instantly stopped and raised her hands high.
“Who are you? What are you doing here? Answer my questions!” The police seemed very nervous because they couldn’t tell if she was male or female, her long, messy hair covering her entire face, and she was covered in dirt, shrouded in darkness, which made the police feel a sense of danger.
“My name is Versailles Elena, 24 years old, American, a mother of one, and I have no weapons on me!” Versailles Elena said fluently, emphasizing her status as a mother to ensure her safety.
“A mother? You don’t look like someone who could have a child!” The police continued to aim their guns at Versailles’s head. “Show me your identification, I need to confirm your identity!”
“Yes, my ID is in my pocket!” Versailles said.
“Then take it out!”
“Yes!” Versailles slowly lowered her left hand.
“What are you trying to do?” the police exclaimed excitedly. “Hands up!”
“Yes!” Versailles accidentally raised her hands high again, and then the police said, “Take out your ID!”
“Sir, it’s right in my pocket. Perhaps you could help me get it out…”
“No, I told you to take out your ID. Who knows what you’re hiding in your pocket? Hurry up and take out your ID!” The police seemed very nervous, as if ready for a gunfight at any moment.
“Yes! I’ll use my left hand to get my ID from my pocket!” Versailles explained her intention to lower her hand and then slowly lowered her left hand.
“What are you trying to do? Are you hiding a gun in your pocket? Hands up!” The police shouted hysterically, like a spoiled child being beaten by his mother. Versailles could only raise her hands high again.
“Sir, you don’t need to panic. I have experience with this. I can jump while keeping my hands up. As I jump, perhaps the ID in my pocket will jump out, and I’ll ensure my hands don’t come down!” Versailles said, and then began to jump up and down. The police nervously curled their fingers, as if about to pull the trigger at any moment.
As expected, Versailles’s experience was profound. She indeed managed to make the ID in her pocket fall out.
“Alright, now get on the ground, spread your limbs, and don’t move a muscle!” the police commanded. Versailles obediently began to squat down, and just as she was about to lie down, she suddenly heard a gunshot. Versailles felt a sharp pain in her chest.
“Oh, sorry, I saw her squatting down, as if she was about to launch a surprise attack on you!” Behind this policeman, an older policeman walked over, holding a smoking pistol, and said calmly.
“No, I think she was trying to attack me!” The policeman who had been holding his gun up also breathed a sigh of relief. “She was very uncooperative, refusing to take out her ID with her hands. We fired legally for our own safety.”
“That’s right, she’s a dangerous element. We can make a call, and if we’re lucky, she might survive.” The older policeman shrugged.
“Don’t call an ambulance!” Versailles said with her remaining consciousness, trying to speak. “I can’t afford the ambulance bill! I don’t have health insurance either! You might as well kill me!”
[PS: Surely no one would find this part exaggerated, as it is adapted from real-life cases in America.]
After an unknown duration of wrestling with the devil in the darkness, Versailles woke up. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a bright hospital room, with the beeping sounds of various medical equipment filling the air.
The entire room was so clean, advanced, and modern that Versailles wished she could escape immediately. These medical bills would make her bankrupt for the third time.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t run away, because all your expenses here will be paid by someone else!” a voice said.
Versailles turned her head in fear and saw a person dressed entirely in black – black pants, black shirt, and black hat.
“Are you the Grim Reaper?” Versailles asked.
“No, I’m a detective!” the person said with a smile. “You’re really lucky. When I found you, you only had one breath left, with a gunshot wound to your left lung and severe internal bleeding. Besides that, you had 32 different types of parasites and 18 chronic illnesses in your body. But you actually survived all these problems, it’s truly a miracle!”
“You should feel fortunate, because someone is paying the bills for these illnesses. You’ve really struck it lucky!” The detective even showed an envious expression as he said this.
