"Damn! You can play with your phone like this!" When the audience saw that the phone could be used by connecting it to the TV, everyone was stunned. They had never imagined that a phone could be paired with a TV for use. This was an unprecedented path. No phone had ever been used this way before, as previous phones were mostly black and white LCD screens, making it unnecessary to project them onto a TV.
However, history has proven that this operation is actually of little significance, as even after 20 years of mobile phone development, no phone that connects to a TV has become popular.
Later, some phones introduced similar features, but they failed to cause any reaction because the function was too impractical. After all, the purpose of projecting a phone screen to a TV is nothing more than watching videos or playing games.
But when watching TV, before 2010, the video quality of phone projection could not be compared to that of a TV. Moreover, there were not many rich resources on mobile phones. Only a fool would use a mobile phone to watch TV.
However, this is not entirely impossible. Boss Huang remembers that hazy summer of 2008, when there was no computer at home, nor DVD or VCD player.
He downloaded many "educational" films from Japan onto his phone through an internet cafe.
It was simply inconvenient to watch them on his phone. The picture was not very clear, and he had to hold the phone with one hand, leaving only one hand for operation, which was even more inconvenient.
Later, he discovered that this phone could indeed connect to a TV for projection. This greatly helped Boss Huang back then. As long as he was home alone, it was an incredibly wonderful summer.
Of course, not many people would do this, so this excellent feature did not become fully popular, which Boss Huang found quite regrettable.
And by the time the phone's capabilities surpassed that of a DVD player, wouldn't it be more convenient to just play it on the phone? Why project it onto the TV?
Moreover, once the phone is connected to the TV, it becomes very inconvenient to use the phone. It wasn't until the advent of the phone projection function that connecting phones to TVs truly became universally popular, but that was much later.
Therefore, Boss Huang knew very well that the function of connecting a phone to a TV was not of much significance; it was just a gimmick, and it didn't have much impact on the sales of a phone.
But the problem is that these audiences don't know that now. When they saw that the phone could be directly connected to the TV to play games, and even paired with a game controller, countless thoughts of amazement surged in their hearts. They marveled at the magic of this world, realizing that phones could be this awesome.
Especially when this author later demonstrated not only playing games via projection but also playing videos. Since the Zhong Mi 1 also had the functions of taking photos and recording videos, although the clarity was not very high, it had 300,000 pixels. At that time, the display effect of ordinary TVs was not much better, and it was quite a good match for such videos and photos. So, when the author started projecting, his family members all gathered around, surrounding him, smiling as they watched these recorded data that represented their family life memories.
At this moment, countless viewers were mesmerized. They realized how wonderful phones could be, and that this TV projection function was truly amazing, perhaps the greatest mobile phone feature.
The main purpose was to create a feeling of great value for money.
Boss Huang, who personally created this video, did not realize how much influence it would have in the future. Simply put, starting from 2005, when this video was released, any mobile phone manufacturer that released any brand of phone with a color screen would have to add the TV projection function and a dedicated data port on the back of the phone for connecting to the TV.
Later, to miniaturize such data ports, mobile phone manufacturers even specially researched hi.
To be fair, a price of $480 for a mobile phone was considered mid-range in the entire US mobile market.
The flagship models of major US mobile brands, such as the Nokia 7610 and Motorola Razr used in previous reviews, were priced at around $900, almost double the $480 price.
However, only a small portion of users could afford them. At this time, mainstream products in the US ranged from $300 to $500, which were mid-range products.
These were generally models produced two or three years prior, or mid-range products designed specifically for that segment.
Among these mid-range products, the better ones would have a color screen, and at most a rear camera with less than 100,000 pixels. That was the limit.
But more mid-range products still featured traditional black and white LCD screens, coupled with features like call records, calculators, and simple mini-games, which could be sold for over $400.
And based on the review just conducted, although the Zhong Mi 1 still had some gaps compared to the flagship models of major mobile brands, it did not hold back in some key aspects.
The large color screen, the 300,000-pixel rear camera, and the rich accessories, along with its excellent computing power, all indicated that the Zhong Mi 1 could definitely be considered a high-end model.
Even if it couldn't be sold for $900 a unit, selling it for around $600-$700 would be completely acceptable to users.
At least many users who were already planning to buy this phone were preparing a budget of over $700. However, with a contract, they could get a Zhong Mi 1 for as little as $480, which was unexpectedly cheap.
This made many users who had not planned to buy this phone, or who had intended to buy phones from other brands, abandon their original plans and decide to purchase the Zhong Mi 1 phone.
"But... this is still not the cheapest price!" Just as everyone was fantasizing about this price, the author in the video said with a somewhat strange smile, "480 dollars is not the cheapest price. In fact, we can buy this Zhong Mi 1 phone at an even more cost-effective price!"
"There's an even cheaper price!" Everyone was surprised. The person in the video continued, "As I mentioned earlier, there are also standalone phones sold in the business halls."
"And the selling price of this standalone phone is also $480 per unit... Hey, don't rush to call me a liar. The price of the standalone phone is indeed $480, but Atari Mobile Communications has launched another campaign called 'Ten Billion Subsidies' to subsidize the purchase of the Zhong Mi 1 standalone phone."
"They subsidize half of each phone, which is $240. This means you can buy a Zhong Mi 1 for just $240, with no other additional charges. Just $240 is enough!"
