Chapter 93 Where Paths Cross

“Brother-in-law, you've only just arrived in Hangzhou, but it's actually because of this company called Forty Thieves, right?” Leng Zhiruo asked with a smile, sitting in the car.

“Just passing by!” Huang He chuckled, “My main purpose is to see you. I haven’t seen you for a month, and I miss you dearly!”

“Hmph!” Leng Zhiruo snorted. Although she knew her brother-in-law was talking nonsense, the nonsense was rather pleasant to hear.

“By the way, brother-in-law, about that secretary I found for you, are you satisfied with her?” Leng Zhiruo asked curiously. She had originally wanted to ask Leng Zhiwen to be her secretary, but Leng Zhiwen had outright refused, citing that she was still a student. In desperation, Leng Zhiruo had to hire a temporary secretary, a high school classmate of hers.

She had graduated from university too, but she had married early and already had a son. Leng Zhiruo figured she would be more stable and wouldn’t cause any trouble.

Of course, that was assuming Huang He wasn’t as troublesome as some prime ministers.

“Not good at all. I’ve already let her go,” Huang He shook his head.

“Why?” Leng Zhiruo asked in confusion. “She’s capable enough, and more meticulous than me. Did she offend you in any way?”

“No, not really. She just told me that someone named Cai Hua was her high school classmate, and she also recounted some stories about your time in high school,” Huang He said calmly.

“What? Why did she bring up that Cai Hua guy?!” Leng Zhiruo became flustered, her face turning red with anger. “Brother-in-law, I don’t know what that guy told you, but please don’t listen to his nonsense. Cai Hua did pursue me for three years in high school, but I never responded to him. I never even read his love letters; my mother burned them all. My whole family knows!”

“Is that so?” Huang He feigned surprise. “But I heard that Cai Hua is quite handsome. Do you really not like him?”

“Handsome? What nonsense! He’s a grown man, but he acts like a woman, so effeminate. He’s not a man at all. By the way, do you know what topic he liked to use to strike up conversations with me? He always talked about the latest Korean skincare products, Japanese medicinal cosmetics, and how a particular mask was more suitable for the skin of people from Wenzhou. It made my skin crawl!” Leng Zhiruo’s face still showed disgust as she spoke.

“Hahahaha!” Huang He couldn’t help but laugh. “Your female classmate told me that you exchanged love letters throughout high school and often discussed cosmetics and skincare products together, which is pretty much what you said.”

“How is that similar? She’s deliberately trying to confuse things!” Leng Zhiruo wasn’t stupid. She understood how damaging these seemingly truthful descriptions would be in the eyes of outsiders.

“How could she do this to me? I lost my job, and I found her a job, so how could she do this to me!” Leng Zhiruo was close to tears.

“That’s why the day after she told me these things, I told her to get lost immediately!” Huang He chuckled, stroking Leng Zhiruo’s head. “Your brother-in-law isn’t stupid. The moment she started talking, I knew what kind of person she was. But it’s also my fault. I only gave you a few days to find someone and handle the handover, so it’s understandable that you might make a wrong judgment.”

“Thank you, brother-in-law,” Leng Zhiruo said weakly. “But I just can’t understand it. She’s already married and has a child. Does she not care about her own family anymore? Besides, she’s just average-looking. Does she really think that by bringing me down, you would be interested in her?”

Leng Zhiruo’s words were accurate. The main reason her classmate was chosen was her extremely ordinary appearance. It might not matter if she married an ordinary person, but their Boss Huang certainly wouldn’t be interested in such a person.

“I don’t think so. She knows her place,” Huang He smiled. “However, the day after she started working, she placed a photo of her sister-in-law in the most prominent position on her desk and often casually mentioned how excellent her sister was. She said she was studying at a film academy in Hong Kong. She’s truly a beautiful embryo, and I admit I was quite moved by her beauty!”

“Her sister? You mean Mao Lin? Don’t be ridiculous! She’s only 15 this year. Is this woman so shameless that she would push her own immature sister onto an old man? Isn’t that harming her own family?” Leng Zhiruo said angrily.

“Hey, watch your words. What do you mean by ‘old man’? Your brother-in-law is only 26!” Huang He glared at his sister-in-law. At 26, being 11 years older, he was indeed an old man.

“Hmph, in any case, I’m done with this woman!” Leng Zhiruo said indignantly. Huang He smiled slightly, appearing calm and composed.

Leng Zhiruo wouldn’t know that as soon as Huang He learned of Cai Hua’s existence, he had immediately sent people to investigate him and uncovered all his background information. Huang He actually knew more details about the situation than Leng Zhiruo had just described.

And this Cai Hua was indeed popular with women. Just a few years after graduating from high school, he got married due to pregnancy. Months after the wedding, they had a son named Cai Kun. Huang He couldn’t help but sigh, the world was indeed small.

“Don’t worry, brother-in-law. I will definitely find you a suitable secretary!” Leng Zhiruo assured Huang He. Then the car stopped. The driver whispered, “Ms. Leng, Chairman Huang, we’ve arrived at Lakeside Garden, Fenghuoyuan. Their office is at Unit 1, Building 6, Room 202!”

“Oh, they’re quite fast!” Huang He nodded and prepared to get out of the car, but Leng Zhiruo also got out.

“Why are you coming down?” Huang He asked with a smile.

“I’m accompanying you to meet the people from Forty Thieves. As the esteemed chairman, you can’t possibly be without someone to carry your bag!” Leng Zhiruo laughed.

“That won’t do!” Huang He shook his head. “You are now the Chief Executive Officer of Jiangnan Sales. It’s not appropriate for you to follow behind me!”

“Brother-in-law, I’m not the Chief Executive Officer today. I’m still your secretary. Don’t you need a secretary?” Leng Zhiruo said with a chuckle.

“Alright, you’ve worn me down!” Huang He laughed heartily and led Leng Zhiruo, who had temporarily returned to her post, into a seemingly ordinary residential complex.

“Knock, knock, knock!” They knocked on the ordinary door. After waiting for more than ten seconds, the door swung open. A front desk receptionist, who looked severely sleep-deprived, opened the door. After confirming their identities, she led Huang He and Leng Zhiruo to the reception lounge.

At that moment, a young man was already sitting in the lounge. Upon seeing him, even Huang He, who had been reborn, couldn’t help but open his mouth wide, looking at the familiar figure before him.

It was as if he saw the words “Pay to Win” written above his head!

This world truly was a small place, where everyone eventually meets!
