Chapter 329: Beggar’s Chicken

Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Beggar’s Chicken

Damn it! In a dimension where its Master exists, it wouldn’t dare act so recklessly!

Dafeng, one of the messengers of the Celestial Dao, whimpered sorrowfully in its heart as it watched its Master depart, not even daring to fart.

The Ji Family had just climbed into the carriage when Xiaosuisui fell asleep in Xie Pan’Er’s arms.

Seeing how sweetly she slept, Xie Pan’Er gently moved Xiaobai aside, holding Xiaosuisui securely all the way back to the Ji Mansion.

「Once they had returned to the Ji Mansion」

Huo Xing’Er and Zhu Xiuxiu deliberately flew to the rooftop, peering towards the Imperial Palace for a long while. Only after confirming that the phoenix hadn’t followed them out of the palace did they finally relax.

"This child’s mouth always keeps us on edge. I wonder if Elder Brother has thought of a solution? Can the Illusion Sect find any records regarding this matter?"

Zhu Xiuxiu was exhausted. A phoenix was auspicious, certainly, but it was a symbol of the Royal Family, and they weren’t ready to die yet!

"If he’d found a solution, Elder Brother would have written to us, even if he couldn’t return because Sister-in-law is pregnant!"

Huo Xing’Er felt even more helpless. In the Imperial Palace today, Xiaosuisui hadn’t been the only one attracting attention.

She hadn’t expected Li Yanyan to be at the palace as well. Moreover, the National Master had publicly announced his intention to take Li Yanyan as his disciple. Others might not know the National Master’s origins, but Huo Xing’Er did.

That was a sacred cultivation sanctuary, worlds apart from Great Han.

Her father, it was said, came from there.

Suisui possessed extraordinary talent; for her to remain in Great Han would undoubtedly be like a pearl gathering dust.

But to let her become the disciple of the National Master...

Huo Xing’Er could see that there was no master-disciple affinity between the National Master and Xiaosuisui!

"What are you thinking about?" Zhu Xiuxiu asked curiously, noticing Huo Xing’Er’s silence as they walked back to their rooms.

Huo Xing’Er shook her head. "Nothing!"

Third Sister-in-law was the type who couldn’t keep things to herself; it was better not to say too much to her.

Ji Youcheng, the third son of the Ji family, approached them wearing a black veil. Huo Xing’Er chuckled. "Has your head maid cooked up something delicious again, Third Brother? Is this for Third Sister-in-law to try?"

Ji Youcheng greeted her, "Second Sister-in-law." Then he added, "It’s Beggar’s Chicken. This chicken is different from the ones we’ve had before; it’s supposedly a free-range chicken exchanged from Luming Academy."

Huo Xing’Er giggled upon hearing this. "You’ve made something delicious, yet instead of putting it on the table for all of us to share, you’re sending it over for Third Sister-in-law to enjoy all by herself! That’s quite sly of you, Third Brother!"

After Huo Xing’Er finished speaking, her eyes twinkled with amusement as she walked away.

Ji Youcheng stood frozen, something flickering in his mind, but he couldn’t quite grasp it!

Zhu Xiuxiu, however, was staring at the food box in his hand, her gaze fixed on the ’Xiu’ character that designated it exclusively for her, as if she could burn a hole through it with her stare.

"I brought this Beggar’s Chicken especially for you. Try it when you get back to your room!" Ji Youcheng said, shaking the food box in his hand.

But Zhu Xiuxiu just gave a light laugh and said, "Mother hasn’t even tasted your head maid’s cooking yet! It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to have it!"

Then, she stepped into her room and shut the door firmly. Ji Youcheng recoiled. Heavens, this wife of mine is getting moodier by the day.

No! It wasn’t that Zhu Xiuxiu’s temper was worsening; rather, she had never shown Ji Youcheng a pleasant expression from the start.

From the moment they met until their marriage, she had always been cold towards him.

Ji Youcheng couldn’t understand it. It wasn’t just his handsome face; his wealth and properties alone were enough to make countless women throw themselves at him wherever he went.

Yet this Zhu Xiuxiu, it was as if he didn’t even exist in her eyes!
