Chapter 580: Chapter 287: Kay Forrest’s Woman, Destined to Shine Brightly
Jane Quinlan chuckled: "I won’t accept."
"Surely you don’t plan to go by yourself?"
Jane’s brows lifted slightly: "I consider myself a charming woman, just looking to find a male companion. How hard could it be?"
Having said that, she opened the door and left.
Nolan Moore shook his head and laughed; this woman simply did not know how to compromise.
Well, if she wasn’t willing, he wouldn’t force her.
As it was the end of the year, there was a lot of work for Kay Forrest to wrap up, and he had to work overtime almost every day.
In the evening, when most of the company’s employees had almost all left and Jane, who had also stayed late, checked the time on her phone—it was past seven.
She swiped her phone screen to find Kay Forrest’s number and called him; the call was quickly disconnected.
Kay was in the middle of a teleconference and could only hang up upon hearing his phone ring.
Soon after, a text message came through, and he glanced at his phone while continuing to speak.
’Forrest, I’m working late. Let me know when you’re about to finish, and I’ll wait for you in the car.’
Kay curled his lips into a smile and flipped his phone screen back down.
Wendy, sitting across from him, had a flicker in her eyes—it must be a text from his girlfriend.
After the meeting was over, Kay shut his laptop: "That’s it for today, Wendy. You should go home too."
"Alright, Director Forrest," Wendy stood up respectfully and left, quickly grabbing her bag and heading to the underground parking garage.
Once in the car, she drove to the spot opposite Kay’s car, not believing for a second that she couldn’t catch anything.
When Kay left the office, the entire building was practically empty. He called Jane: "Come downstairs, let’s go."
"Okay," Jane stood up, grabbed her bag, and headed to the elevator, which went directly to the underground parking lot. Kay was standing by the door waiting for her.
He casually draped his arm over her shoulder: "Weren’t you scared, being all alone in the office today?"
"There was still a team in the office. If there had been no one, I really would have been scared."
"Look at how little courage you have."
Jane looked at him: "Why didn’t you wait in the car for me? What if someone saw us?"
"At this hour, who’s going to run into us here?
Besides, even if someone did, would they dare to talk nonsense?"
"Look how confident you are."
The two of them, chatting and laughing, got into the car. Kay drove off, and as they left the underground garage, the headlights of a silver-white Volkswagen car opposite lit up.
In the car, Wendy’s eyes clearly showed a trace of anger.
Evie Larkin hadn’t lied to her—Director Forrest’s girlfriend truly was a no-name bargain.
She really hadn’t expected Director Forrest to have such poor taste, to have fallen for that kind of woman you could find anywhere in the streets.
She had seen how Kay Forrest treated his girlfriend; despite being so harsh to her usually, he spoke to that Jane with such tenderness.
She just couldn’t accept it.
In what way was she inferior to that ordinary woman?
If that woman could rise up, she could certainly do the same.
Jane Quinlan, Jane Quinlan, hmph, she needed to deal with this brazen woman properly.
On Saturday morning, Jane woke up and it was almost ten o’clock.
She turned over lazily and found that Kay was still asleep as well.
She patted his shoulder: "Forrest, didn’t you say you were going to the office today?"
"Afternoon."
He casually pulled her into his embrace and hugged her tight: "I slept so well. How about you?"
"I always sleep well. She turned her head towards him and smiled: "What would you like for breakfast? I’ll make it."
"Anything’s fine, just keep it simple. After breakfast, let’s go shopping."
"Shopping? Why, do you need to buy something?"
"Yeah, there is, don’t ask, go wash up." Kay said, ruffling her hair and pushing her out of bed.
For breakfast, Jane boiled two bowls of noodles. After eating, Kay drove her to Zhong’an Plaza.
He specifically took her to women’s clothing stores.
Jane wasn’t dull, naturally knowing that Kay wanted to buy clothes for her.
She pulled his hand: "Forrest, I don’t want to buy any new clothes."
"But I want to buy them for you. You can only accept this and not object, because I’m your boyfriend.
Ah, right, I know you don’t like spending my money, so I’ll take the initiative to spend it for you.
Plus, you’ll be going back to your hometown in a few days, and I won’t have time to shop with you these days."
"Today, let’s buy everything we need in one go."
After he finished speaking, he said to the clerk, "Bring out all of this month’s new arrivals."
"Yes."
Jane Quinlan slapped Kay Forrest’s arm and said, "Are you crazy?"
"When I dress you up beautifully, who do you think will enjoy it the most?"
Jane looked at him, "Isn’t it me?"
"It’s me. You look beautiful, and it’s me who sees you every day that will be in a better mood.
It seems I’m spending money on you, but actually, I’m finding pleasure for myself."
Jane smiled at him; it was clear he was spending on her, she felt guilty for accepting it, yet he spent with such ease and justification.
The clerk brought over a dozen outfits and laid them out in front of Kay Forrest. After a quick glance, he chose five for Jane to try on.
After Jane tried them on, he was satisfied with every single one and decided to buy them all.
The first time he bought her clothes, he did it secretively, but now he wasn’t avoiding it in front of her anymore.
After all, times have changed. She is now the woman closest to his heart, and they are to be married in the future.
Once married to him, Jane Quinlan would be a lady who married into a wealthy family.
If a lady of a wealthy family doesn’t carry a certain grandeur due to her status, she will inevitably be ridiculed as a country bumpkin unfit for high society.
He needed to train her, teach her to spend her man’s money confidently and in abundance.
Jane knew Kay Forrest’s temperament; there’s no stopping him, so she might as well not try.
Although fancy clothes were not what she wanted, she also understood that to make Kay proud, she had to dress appropriately.
If she rejected Kay’s kindness every time, it would also disappoint him.
After leaving the store, Jane checked the time, "It’s almost one o’clock, you should go to the office, I can go back by myself."
"No, that won’t do. There’s nothing particularly important on my end, let’s visit one more shop."
He took her by the hand and led her into another boutique.
Jane felt dizzy looking at all the fancy clothes.
"I won’t need these gowns, I don’t want them."
"You’ll need to wear one for tomorrow night’s company celebration."
"But no matter how beautiful I dress, I won’t be standing by your side."
"That doesn’t matter, I’ll be able to see you from afar." He curved his lips into a smile and pointed to a golden dress displayed in the window: "Try this one on."
"Yes sir, please wait a moment." The clerk unlocked the display and took out the dress: "Sir, this dress is from a famous French designer, it’s the only one in the entire city, just air-freighted over yesterday afternoon."
Jane frowned; it must be very, very expensive.
"The quality looks good at first glance. Jane, go try it on."
Jane whispered in his ear, "I don’t have the right presence; I can’t carry the dress with the right flair."
"I trust my judgment; the woman I’ve chosen must be the most beautiful in this world."
He tousled her hair, "Listen to me, go try it on."
Jane reluctantly went into the fitting room; the dress wasn’t priced, and she stayed inside a good long while before slowly trying on the gown.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Jane felt momentarily stunned.
Is this really her? Is her figure... really that great?
They say clothes make the man, and this saying is not without truth.
She, who thought herself devoid of any remarkable presence, now seemed... extravagantly elegant in this garment.
Kay was waiting for a long time outside the door, finally coming up to knock: "Miss, you’re taking quite a long time to change, are you having trouble? Do you need someone to help you with it?"
"Er, no need, I’m done." She opened the door of the fitting room, and Kay stepped back to look at her.
For a moment, Kay felt as if he were looking at a fairy stepping out of a painting, so surreal.
He stepped forward and gave her a thumbs-up: "This dress was made for you; we’ll take it."
Jane caught his hand, "This is enough, looking at it. Don’t buy it."
Kay tapped her head with his bank card, "Silly girl, go change back."
"Hey," Jane said helplessly, looking at him.
Kay hooked his lips into a smile, "Be good, go take it off."
He nudged her back into the fitting room to take off the gown.
Once the fitting room door closed, he handed his card to the clerk: "Settle it. We’ll take this one, and the pair of white high heels as well."
His woman, Kay Forrest’s woman, should shine bright in a crowd and command respect.
Tomorrow night, he had a surprise prepared for her; she must dazzle everyone.
His lips curled up in a light smile, looking forward to seeing her expression tomorrow night.
