Chapter 603: Chapter 308: Nauseated and Disgusted Jane Quinlan
After dinner, the group got a private room in the bar to sing.
It was after ten o’clock when they headed home.
Kay Forrest had been drinking, so Jane Quinlan had to drive.
She drove slowly, but there was no rush anyway, and Kay Forrest didn’t hurry her, just contentedly watched her.
"Forrest, you really surprised me today.
You can actually play the piano."
Kay Forrest laughed: "Is that really something to make such a fuss over?"
"Hmm, I admire you even more now.
I’ve always thought people who could play the piano were really cool as a kid.
But I never really saw anyone learn piano when I was young.
So when you went up and played the piano, everyone was so envious."
Kay Forrest looked at her: "Learned piano to impress girls when I was young, now it suddenly gives me a sense of accomplishment."
"What?" Jane Quinlan exclaimed and turned to stare at him: "Impress girls? Get lost."
Kay Forrest burst into laughter: "Just kidding, my alma mater is a fancy school, we had piano classes."
"Wow..." She exclaimed with surprise as she looked at him.
"Wow what, we just come from different circles, everyone has their own unique aspects.
Look, you have those traditional makeup photos, right?
I had never seen those before.
This visit has really been an eye-opener for me."
"Kay Forrest, you’re so annoying, don’t talk about this anymore."
Jane Quinlan glared at him, regretfully saying she shouldn’t have shown him the photos.
When they got home, Jane’s dad and mom had not yet gone to bed, waiting up for them.
Kay Forrest immediately said upon knowing they were waiting: "You guys shouldn’t wait up for us.
We young people love to have fun.
You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your sleep because of our fun.
Don’t wait up for us next time."
"Hey, you all can’t come back often either."
"Mom, Forrest is leaving tomorrow morning, you should make him ’get-out dumplings’."
Jane Quinlan chuckled as she clung to Kay Forrest’s arm.
Kay Forrest frowned: "’Get-out dumplings’?"
Jane’s mom laughed: "Didn’t I serve you noodles on your first day here?
In our tradition, you eat noodles when you arrive and dumplings when you leave."
Kay Forrest nodded, realizing there was such a tradition.
"Then, auntie, it’ll be tough on you tomorrow."
"What are you talking about, it’s late, you two should go rest up."
After watching the two enter the room, the elderly couple went back to their room.
Kay Forrest, while taking off his jacket, said: "Why don’t you come back with me tomorrow?
I don’t want to be alone at home, it’s so boring."
"Why are you starting this again?"
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll go out to impress girls while you’re not around?"
Jane Quinlan tapped his head lightly: "If you dare go impress other girls behind my back, then I’ll flirt with guys right in front of you."
"You’re quite something, woman. Being all tough, huh?" He pulled her onto the bed and pinned her down.
"I’m leaving tomorrow, so I want to be intimate with you tonight.
Otherwise, being unable to touch you for a few days will drive me crazy."
Jane Quinlan wrapped her arms around his neck: "I’m also afraid I’ll miss you."
"Enough talk, tonight I’m all yours."
"Are you crazy," she shyly slapped his shoulder.
Kay Forrest didn’t care, already starting to kiss her and unbutton her clothes.
Jane Quinlan initially thought Kay Forrest was just joking.
But he was serious, which was a bit too much for her to handle.
At this rate, Kay Forrest being a ’Seven-Time Knight’ in one night is certainly not a dream.
The two only managed to doze off hazily as dawn broke.
After just a short while, Jane Quinlan heard the sound of her mom chopping dumpling fillings outside.
Hearing this noise, she felt a special warmth.
Around eight o’clock, Jane’s mom came knocking: "Forrest, time for breakfast, the dumplings are getting cold."
Jane Quinlan nudged Kay Forrest: "My mom’s calling you."
Kay Forrest opened his eyes and yawned: "Auntie, I’m coming."
He then pulled her into his embrace: "Haven’t had enough sleep."
"Serves you right, it’s because you were fooling around instead of sleeping properly last night."
"Look at you, lady, you enjoyed it as well and now you’re blaming me."
Jane Quinlan rolled her eyes. It was enjoyable, but now her legs were trembling, and her back hurt.
"Mom said the dumplings are getting cold, let’s go down and eat."
"Alright," Kay Forrest turned over and got out of bed.
The two joined their grandparents and parents for breakfast.
By ten o’clock, Kay Forrest was ready to leave.
The family walked him to the door, where Kay looked at Jane with eyes full of reluctance to leave.
Jane pouted, also reluctant to let him go.
After Grandpa and Jane’s dad had their say, Kay opened the car door, but couldn’t help turning back to hug her before getting in the car.
He gently rubbed her head with his hand: "Take care, alright."
"Mm, call me when you get home.
Don’t stay alone these days; go stay with your dad for a while.
Just like my parents need me, they need you too."
Kay melted and kissed on her head, "Got it, you little housekeeper."
Jane Quinlan let go of him, pouting and glaring at him: "Don’t take it lightly. Also, remember to deliver the gift I prepared for uncle."
"Mm, okay."
Jane Quinlan stepped back: "Alright, get in the car and go, otherwise it will be dark by the time you get home."
Kay Forrest finally said farewell to the elders and drove away.
As Kay Forrest’s car disappeared into the distance, Jane’s mom then led the grandparents back into the house, her dad saying, "Come inside earlier, it’s cold outside."
"Mm, okay, Dad."
Alone, she walked to a small bridge and looked into the distance; Kay’s car was now out of sight.
He had just left, and she was already missing him.
Back home, Jane Quinlan curled up in bed and fell into a deep sleep.
She was utterly exhausted last night, now feeling like she could sleep through the end of the world.
She even skipped lunch, and Jane’s mom, seeing she couldn’t wake her, let her be.
Around two in the afternoon, her phone rang.
Startled by the ringtone, she grabbed her phone to check.
It wasn’t Kay Forrest, it was Adriana Golden, slightly disappointing her.
But considering the time, Kay Forrest probably hadn’t reached home yet.
She turned over and lay back down, answering the phone: "Hello, Adriana."
"Big news, today Rowan Golden and Savannah Golden really went through with the divorce."
If it were in the past, Jane Quinlan might have been curious about this.
But now, she truly didn’t find it peculiar at all.
"Is that so."
"Hey, you sound like you don’t care at all."
Jane Quinlan turned over: "Other people’s business has nothing to do with me, I’m not interested."
"I actually didn’t expect Rowan Golden to be so manly.
I used to have a terrible impression of Rowan.
But now, I’ve changed my view; that guy, he’s a real man.
Now Savannah has become a second-time bride, and considering her job is not that great...
She might want to find a wealthy guy, but they have to like her back."
Adriana’s tone was somewhat sour, Jane Quinlan scratched her forehead: "Adriana, everyone has their own pursuits.
What Savannah pursues is her own business, don’t rain on her parade and mind your own business instead."
"I won’t, hey, isn’t your Forrest brother gone today?
Come out tonight, let’s hang out, I’ll come pick you up."
"Not going, not interested." Jane Quinlan turned over, everything seemed boring without Kay Forrest around.
"It’s a gathering for a few classmates tonight to invite Rowan and cheer him up a bit.
You should come too, it’ll feel like something is missing without you."
She was even less likely to go to a gathering organized for Rowan.
She didn’t want to be accused of kicking someone when they’re down in the future.
"Not going, tonight I have a video call with my Forrest.
Besides, given my past relationship with Rowan, if I went, he’d probably think I’m there to laugh at him.
For the sake of class harmony, I better not go."
Seeing Jane Quinlan steadfastly refused, Adriana didn’t press further.
After hanging up the phone, Jane Quinlan got up to use the bathroom. As she passed the kitchen door, she saw her mom making soup.
Her stomach grumbled, turning she entered the kitchen: "Mom, what soup is that, it smells so good."
She said as her hand already lifted the lid, a wave of aroma spreading to her nose.
Despite being very hungry, she suddenly felt nauseated and quickly put the lid back on, running into the bathroom to retch.
