Chapter 622: Chapter 324: Jane Quinlan, It was Jane Quinlan who harmed her
Kay Forrest rushed into Nolan Moore’s office holding a courier box.
Nolan Moore was busy, and he looked up at the door displeased when he heard the loud noise.
Seeing it was him, Nolan Moore put down his pen: "Why so angry?"
Kay Forrest placed the courier box on his desk: "Open it and see."
Nolan Moore looked at him puzzled, then opened the courier box.
When he saw what was inside, his brow furrowed: "What’s going on?"
"I suspect it has something to do with Evie Larkin."
Nolan Moore looked at him, silent for a moment: "Evie... wouldn’t do something like this."
"Besides her, who else would hate Jane Quinlan so much?"
Nolan Moore closed the courier box: "It’s better not to act rashly without evidence."
"Are you trying to protect her again?"
"It’s not about whose side I want to take, the issue you should solve is Evie’s psychological barrier."
"If I marry her, she won’t have any barriers. Do you think I should marry her?"
Nolan Moore silently again: "That’s not what I meant. Forget it, talking about this is meaningless. What have you come to see me about?"
"Do you have a way to handle this? If you do, then you deal with it.
If you don’t, then I have no choice but to go against my father’s wishes to confront her.
Evie Larkin is now behaving recklessly, relying on my dad’s guilt.
My dad owes her, but I don’t."
Nolan Moore pondered: "Give me a few days, I’ll talk to her again."
"Fine, I’ll give you a few days. If Evie Larkin still doesn’t know how to restrain herself,
I hope you won’t stand on her side acting like a good person then.
I really can’t wait until she makes an irreparable mistake and then regret it."
Nolan Moore nodded.
Kay Forrest turned and left, Nolan Moore hesitated for a moment and then called Manager Annie from the assistant department.
"Manager Annie, this is Nolan Moore.
I need to transfer an assistant from your department to temporarily take over Jane Quinlan’s work."
"Alright, Director Moore, I’ll arrange it right away."
"No need for special arrangements, just send Evie Larkin down."
"Evie, huh," Manager Annie hesitated for a moment.
"What, is there a problem?"
"This... alright, there’s no problem, I’ll send her down."
After hanging up, Annie called Evie Larkin to come in.
Evie Larkin walked into the office with a cheerful smile: "Manager Annie, you called for me."
"Take a seat."
Because of Evie Larkin’s demoted status in the company, she was no longer favored in front of Annie.
Annie always thought that Evie Larkin wouldn’t have a chance to turn things around.
Who would have thought, Director Moore would still use her.
During this time, she hadn’t treated Evie Larkin very well, and didn’t know if she would complain.
After all, Director Moore holds a certain authority in the company.
Evie Larkin looked at the seat, sensibly waved her hand: "It’s okay, Manager Annie, I’ll just stand."
"Why suddenly become so distant with me.
These days, there have been quite a few rumors about you in the company.
But you don’t need to keep your distance from me because of it.
These past few days, I’ve actually been very upset because of your avoidance."
Evie Larkin smiled and sat down: "Manager Annie, you misunderstood, I just didn’t want to implicate you."
Her face was smiling, but her heart felt ice cold, knowing very well who was avoiding who.
"What’s this ’implicating or not implicating’ nonsense. You are my competent assistant.
Here’s the thing, today Director Moore wants to transfer someone from the assistant department over there.
I think you have a good relationship with Director Moore, maybe..."
"No need, Manager Annie, there are so many people in the assistant department.
If you prioritize me, people will gossip.
You better deploy someone else first."
"Saying that makes me feel even more sympathetic towards you.
Forget it, don’t think about this issue anymore, you just go over.
I thought, these days you have also been suffering from people’s disdain in this department.
Continuing to work here is also troubling.
Why don’t you just go down."
Evie Larkin thought for a moment, then finally nodded: "Alright, thank you Manager Annie for giving me this opportunity."
"Then go and pack up now."
"Alright."
Evie Larkin stood up, bowed to her and turned to leave.
As soon as she came out, she began packing her things, and everyone thought she was going to resign, murmuring about it behind her back.
Evie Larkin was not angered. After packing, she said to them, "Sisters, I’ve troubled you all these years.
Now I am transferring to work downstairs, take care, everyone."
After finishing, she carried the box and left. Evelyn Claire followed and asked, "Where are you going?"
"Director Moore needs an assistant temporarily, I’m going to cover for a while."
"My God, that’s so unfair. Why should someone have to clean up after Jane Quinlan?"
Evie Larkin sneered, "Come on, I’m not upset, why are you? Go back, I’m leaving."
"Let’s have a meal together sometime."
Evie Larkin ignored her and went downstairs first.
Arriving on the 17th floor, Evie Larkin put down the box and knocked on the door.
After hearing an invitation to enter, she pushed the door open: "Nolan."
"Come in."
Evie Larkin stepped forward, her expression somewhat serious: "Please guide me from now on."
"Sit down, let’s have a chat."
"Okay," Evie Larkin followed him and sat down by the sofa.
"Evie, I have a question for you."
"Go ahead."
"Did you... ever send an odd package to Jane Quinlan?"
"An odd package?" she puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Nolan Moore got up, walked to the desk, took the parcel box, and placed it on the coffee table to open it.
Upon seeing the contents, Evie Larkin covered her mouth in astonishment: "What... what is this?"
"You don’t know?"
"What do you mean by this, Nolan?" Evie Larkin looked at him surprised, with a questioning tone: "Are you suspecting me? You think I sent this to Jane Quinlan?"
"I’m just asking."
"Why would you ask me this if not out of suspicion?
Nolan, am I still your friend?
How could I possibly do such a thing, have I gone mad?"
Evie Larkin’s voice raised several decibels, her eyes filled with pain.
Nolan Moore sighed, "Don’t get so worked up."
"How can I not be worked up? You are suspecting me, aren’t you?
I despise Jane Quinlan so much I could scream, but I have no reason to do such childish things.
If doing this would indeed make Jane Quinlan leave Kay Forrest.
I would have done it a hundred and eighty years ago, why wait until now?"
Evie Larkin’s face flushed with emotion, she reached out and closed the box: "Is my name written on this?"
She closed it and glanced at it, somewhat puzzled: "Wendy Yeager?
So, you concluded that I sent the package just based on this name?
So that’s what you think of me."
"Kay Forrest said that this is his assistant’s name."
"Isn’t his assistant Wendy?"
"Don’t you know Wendy’s Chinese name?"
Evie Larkin paused, "I didn’t know. In the office, everybody calls her Wendy.
I thought her name was Wendy.
But then, why would Wendy’s name be on this parcel box?"
Evie Larkin’s brow furrowed, and she suddenly looked somewhat dazed.
"Was this package sent to you by Kay Forrest?"
"Yes."
"The malicious package Jane Quinlan received, the sender is Wendy..."
She bit her lip, her eyes distant: "Wendy has always liked Kay Forrest, and she really dislikes Jane Quinlan.
But she definitely wouldn’t do such a foolish thing.
The person who wrote Wendy’s name wants others to think it was sent by someone else. Kay isn’t stupid, he would’ve know immediately it wasn’t sent by Wendy when he saw that name.
Then they would think, who on earth is exploiting Wendy to harm Jane Quinlan.
Speaking of harming Jane Quinlan, they would first think of me."
Evie Larkin breathed out, "The real target of this person isn’t Jane Quinlan, nor Wendy, it’s me."
Nolan Moore looked at her, initially he thought she was making excuses, but as her face turned increasingly pale, Nolan realized the package indeed wasn’t simple.
Evie Larkin’s eyes flickered, who was targeting her? Wendy?
No, impossible, the person Wendy wants to deal with most is Jane Quinlan.
Even if she really wanted to deal with her, it should be after driving Jane Quinlan away.
If it wasn’t Wendy, then it could only be her, Jane Quinlan, it was Jane Quinlan who was targeting her.
She suddenly smiled coldly, feeling some things had become clear to her.
It seems she had truly underestimated Jane Quinlan as an opponent.
Looks are deceptive, this saying really isn’t false at all.
