Silently Writing
99/00 Season Storyline Design Summary
For basketball novels, which are generally between 500,000 and 800,000 words per season, just like the 98/99 season, in my layout, this season can still only be considered a "medium-short story."
First of all, I am very happy that I successfully received the 10,000-subscriber badge not long ago. Here, I would like to thank all the handsome readers for their strong support again. After all, I didn't expect to be able to reach 10,000 subscribers when I have been in a constant state of disrepair throughout the second half of the year.
Secondly, let's talk about the current progress of this book.
Because everyone knows that I am going to write a total of 20 seasons for this book, from Su Feng's career perspective, including my layout, and the rhythm of traditional online novels, it is obvious that the plot and story of this season are relatively bland and lack ups and downs.
And this is also the information that many readers have given me in their feedback.
Of course, in fact, I had already anticipated this dilemma when I started writing this book.
Because I know even if I use my brain, continuous climaxes of millions of words would probably make even myself tired of writing before you get tired of reading.
A period of calm is inevitable in any novel.
Especially for basketball novels with natural outlines.
Because I discussed with you when I started writing the book that because basketball novels have natural outlines, readers can easily guess your next plot. Therefore, in this book, I added a lot of character descriptions to drive the plot with characters.
As the 99/00 season, which connects the past and the future in my entire layout, its position and significance are very special.
Because from the known plot, after Yao joins the NBA and McGrady leaves next season, the NBA world pattern in my universe will definitely undergo earth-shaking changes.
In particular, in the next few seasons, as Su Feng's five-year plan in Toronto is completed, his next stop will gradually be revealed, and new climaxes will arrive unexpectedly.
Therefore, how to write the 99/00 season well and let it fulfill its due responsibility in my entire book has always been a headache and a concern for me.
Originally, the best way to get through the calm period would be to speed up the updates and use the updates to get through it.
But as we all know, because of my current physical condition, I can't speed up, so I can only put more thought into how to make this season more complete, and use completeness to replace speed.
From the current subscription situation, there are still thousands of loyal readers who have not abandoned me despite the torment of stoppages and repeated stoppages, so at least what I have written should be satisfactory to you.
So, let's talk about a topic here.
That is what is called: "Forcibly adding scenes."
First of all, I have emphasized to you more than once that Su Feng will grow, Su Feng will explode, and his opponents will also grow and explode... Because in my opinion, this is a reasonable world, a reasonable universe.
Otherwise, after 20 seasons, it will all be stories of Su Feng playing tricks on his opponents... Seriously, is it really reasonable?
And you really don't keep telling me that you will subscribe to everything if I write like this, because there are many people who write like this on Qidian, but there is really no one who can achieve better results than me.
Because that kind of story, to put it bluntly, after you read too much, and then compare it with reality, maybe you don't watch the NBA now, but you will always watch the old highlights when you are bored, right? Then once you compare, your psychological gap will appear.
After all, that kind of story, in the words of Zhang Zhidao, is unreasonable!
Without blood and flesh enemies, will there really be pleasure in defeating them?
In fact, from Chapter 385 to Chapter 388, I have listed a lot of data. However, because I am afraid of being called a "water chapter" by you, I am too lazy to list some of the data that I have listed before.
So what is the significance of these 4 chapters for the entire 99/00 season?
The answer is that as Su Feng's next opponent, and also as the main characters in the book, the Celtics' image, and the character settings of Duncan, Artest, Ray Allen, and Marbury need to be further designed.
Because I said, the responsibility of the entire 99/00 season is to complete the character settings and fill in the previously unfilled pits, so as to prepare for the new pits.
Therefore, the inherent value of this series is to play a key role in breaking the situation, just like the previous game against the Bulls (which you said was a forced black eight).
You can even simply understand it as, the reason why I quickly skipped the games against the Pistons and the Knicks in 2-3 chapters is to put more effort into the plot behind.
Of course, it may be because I have run out of ideas, or it may be because of insufficient writing skills, which makes some partners feel: Ah, the Celtics can actually tie with the Raptors, isn't this forcibly strengthening the opponent?
However, please pay attention to the key points I mentioned in the book.
With the Celtics' lineup, is it really strange to tie with the Raptors in some games in a series? Does the protagonist's team have to win every game to make it a forced plot? Davis and Su Feng's layouts are both to solve the Celtics more stably, not for the victory of one or two games, because the NBA series can never be viewed only one game, and I have mentioned this at least 3 times in the book, but there are still people who say, since this is the case, why not pull out the main force to play earlier? Wake up, aside from objective factors, isn't the real-life Mosaic team losing to the Warriors because of the 7-8-man rotation? (And if he doesn't overuse Su Feng, would Davis dare to play like this?)
Regarding the issue of Duncan being described as too strong. Alas... my friends, in my book, because the games with large scores are basically skipped, so it is rare for Duncan to have such a scene, just like Su Feng suddenly getting 60+, isn't this reasonable? And in reality, you can check the data of O'Neal and Ben Wallace against Duncan if you are interested. Therefore, has the current sports novel become a pure cool novel that only allows the protagonist to explode, only allows praising the protagonist, and does not allow opponents to fight the protagonist with tenacious willpower?
Try to think about it, if in reality, so many great games were not because the opponents resisted fiercely, then where would the so-called greatness come from?
As for Su Feng's final buzzer-beater... don't say I'm forcing it, because when I was setting the plot, Su Feng was going to make the buzzer-beater.
Therefore, I have buried a lot of plots in the book about Su Feng having a big heart, being shameless, and even using Kobe and Iverson's words to repeatedly pave the way, even including Artest's provocation against Su Feng.
Oh yes, since I mentioned Artest, I will also tell you why I wrote it like this.
Because Artest in reality is a small cockroach who is shameless and can't be killed, so would he surrender to Su Feng because of 1 out of 10 shots and being unable to defend Su Feng?
Wake up, if the young Artest could give in so easily, he wouldn't have left so many bad names back then.
As for the arrangement that Su Feng was successfully defended by Artest after his stamina declined, to put it bluntly, that position was deliberately designed by me.
Because only in this way does it conform to reality, instead of writing the novel as a superpower basketball.
After all, even Lao Liu Mang (Michael Jordan) and Kobe have been defended, so why should it become a 100% hit rate for our protagonist, and being defended is a "torturing the protagonist" plot?
And I have mentioned more than once in my book that the current Su Feng is in the process of advancing from frame-by-frame to smooth. And there is enough explanation in the book for the scene where Artest sees Su Feng's gap. After all, after being beaten by Su Feng countless times, it would be really unreasonable if Artest, a ruthless person, didn't fight back at all, right?
Now, after reading so much, do you feel more reasonable in your heart and more comfortable in your thinking?
Now let's go back to the 99/00 season.
At this stage when this season is about to end, to be honest, you really don't have to worry that I will "water it down," because one thing that I have been emphasizing is that a season will naturally end when it should end.
Therefore, even if my body is not in good condition, I am still seriously typing and revising each chapter, and finally choosing the most suitable part for it.
Note that it is the most suitable, not necessarily the best.
Why is this?
Because the best part is not necessarily suitable for my next part.
Maintaining the continuity of the novel's rhythm, choosing the most suitable and stable transition, and using the most complete ending to welcome the new "sky pit" (unforeseen challenge), this is the story that I want to present to you.
From the perspective of connecting, the 99/00 season will inevitably have some sacrifices in the plot.
Because I must complete the strength description and characterization of the various main characters and teams in the book through some games.
And if I could do it again, I feel like I could write the dunk contest scene better, but some things, once they are gone, they are gone.
In short, my original intention will not change.
The strength of the important characters in my book will definitely become stronger and weaker over time.
In addition, while Su Feng is exploding, his opponents will still have many highlight moments.
I said it as early as when I was describing Su Feng's early losing scenes that I don't want my basketball novel to be too detached from reality.
Because that will really lead to a decline in the sense of substitution in the later stage, and for a novel that is going to write 20 seasons, a decline in the sense of substitution is a truly devastating blow.
In order to attract the reader's attention in this one season and give up more of the future, I have done such a thing with "the cheat" once, so I will never do it again, even if some readers choose to "raise the book" (read later) and give up following, I will still insist on writing like this.
Because the reason why legendary stories are so amazing is precisely because many legendary lives have wins and losses.
As for the so-called "forced"... that may really be because my writing skills are not good enough, because in fact, reality is really much more "forced" than my book. (Think about it, which of those amazing buzzer-beaters ranked in the top 100 in the NBA could have predicted the ending of the story?)
Anyway, it's still the same sentence... if you have confidence in me, then I will try my best to present to you a novel of 20 seasons that I want to write.
In a long story, I can't spoil everything one by one. Many foreshadowings will only have their value when they are revealed. And many preparations will only resonate when they trigger a linkage in the future.
(Finally, finally, can I ask for monthly votes? Considering how hard I have been working recently? Meow meow meow! Continue to code! Awoo!)
