"As expected... another Tier 14."
Ethan’s eyes lit up as he scanned the stats. "No surprise there—Namyanna’s a Tier 14 Crimson Ultimate Hero too. And honestly... she might even be stronger than Ataneya."
Which meant...
If he could somehow recruit her too...
He’d have not one, but two Tier 14 Crimson Ultimate Heroes under his command. That would be a massive power spike. Just the thought of it made his heart race—because it meant he finally had a real shot.
A shot at clearing the Citadel of Shadows dungeon.
If he had two S-Class Crimson Ultimate Heroes on his side...
He could bulldoze through that place.
"Big sis!" Ataneya leaned in close to Namyanna, her tone affectionate. "Can you help us take down Klorvax?"
Namyanna didn’t answer right away.
Instead, she turned her head and gave Ethan a long, scrutinizing look.
"So... this is the master you chose?"
She tilted her head slightly, unimpressed.
"He doesn’t seem all that special..."
"Why him, Ataneya?"
"Feel it for yourself," Ataneya said, pointing at Ethan’s abdomen. "The Darkheart Orb fused with his body. That’s why I chose him."
"Darkheart Orb?" Namyanna’s gaze sharpened as she looked at Ethan again.
Then, without a word, she stood and walked toward the shoreline.
Namyanna’s voice was calm, but carried the weight of the sea itself.
"If you want my help... it’s not impossible. But he has to go to the ocean floor and earn the recognition of the Deepcore Orb. If he succeeds, I’ll join you—and from that moment on, I’ll serve under him, just like you do."
"The Deepcore Orb?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow. "What’s that?"
"One of the Primordial Force relics," Namyanna replied, her tone reverent.
"It’s on the same level as the Darkheart Orb that’s already fused with your body."
"That so?" Ethan nodded without hesitation. "Alright then. I’ll go check it out."
And with that, he dove straight into the sea.
"Hey—wait!" Ataneya blinked, startled, then quickly swam after him. "Be careful! That thing’s not something you just pick up off the seabed!"
But Ethan was already gone, plunging deep into the ocean.
Wooooom... wooooom...
The deeper he went, the thicker the darkness became. It wasn’t just the absence of light—it was a suffocating, living force. The moment he hit the depths, he felt like the sea itself was trying to swallow him whole.
In seconds, he was pulled all the way to the ocean floor.
Whoosh!
Ataneya caught up, her expression tense.
"My Lord, this place is dangerous. That pearl’s been down here for who knows how many centuries. No one’s ever managed to claim it. My sister probably just wanted to test you."
Ethan didn’t even slow down. "Well, I’m already here. Might as well see what all the fuss is about."
He swam forward, cutting through the water with practiced ease. Before long, he spotted it—a massive clamshell, wide open, resting on the seabed. Nestled inside was a glowing orange pearl.
Unlike the blood-red orb from before, this one radiated a softer, more ethereal energy—less raw power, more... mental, spiritual.
Ethan didn’t hesitate. He reached out and grabbed it.
The moment his fingers touched the pearl, it began to melt—just like the Darkheart Orb had. It liquefied instantly and surged into his body.
"What the—?"
Ethan’s eyes widened. Before he could even react, a surge of energy exploded inside him, flooding his mind and settling in his forehead like a brand of power.
But just as he was starting to process it—
BOOM!
A massive sea serpent burst from the ocean floor, its body coiling in the water like a living mountain.
"Who dares touch the sacred relic of the sea?" it hissed, voice echoing through the depths. "Hand it over, human—or die."
As it spoke, dozens—no, hundreds—of sea serpents slithered in from every direction, surrounding Ethan in a tightening ring of scales and fangs.
"He... he actually did it?" Ataneya gasped, stunned. She hadn’t expected this. No one had ever succeeded before. But Ethan had.
Which meant... she’d made the right choice.
Maybe he really was the one from the legends.
"Get out of my sight!" she roared suddenly, her voice booming like a tidal wave.
Power erupted from her body, and the surrounding water instantly began to boil—literally. The sea turned into a vortex of searing flame, and in the blink of an eye, the swarm of serpents was incinerated, reduced to ash and bubbles.
Total annihilation.
"Let’s go, my Lord!" Ataneya said, grinning with excitement. "There’s no way my sister can say no now!"
Ethan didn’t stick around. With a flick of his body, he shot upward, breaking through the water like a missile.
When he surfaced, he was met with a surprising sight.
Namyanna was kneeling on the shore, hands clasped in a prayer-like gesture, her head bowed low.
"Oh great Thal’Zuur, Ancient Sea God... I never imagined someone would actually absorb the Deepcore Orb in my lifetime. From this moment on, he is my master. I will follow him, and offer him everything I have."
Ethan blinked, stunned. He hadn’t expected that.
Before he could say anything, Namyanna opened her eyes—and then, without warning, she leaned forward and spat out a crystal-clear pearl.
The energy radiating from it was pure, almost divine. The moment Ethan saw it, his body reacted instinctively. He felt something inside him pull—like a magnet locking onto its other half.
Hummmm...
The pearl shimmered once, then shot into Ethan’s chest and vanished.
A strange, powerful energy surged through him, intertwining with the force already inside him—and with Namyanna’s own power.
Ethan’s breath caught in his throat.
Ding!
