The Xuan Clan Old House
Granny Xuan, with her temples streaked with white, lay on the bed. She had merely felt a bit dizzy, yet these people had caused such a fuss, calling for Mo Han.
"How is she?" Xuan Mo Han immediately asked, watching Mu Jingxuan put away his stethoscope.
"She's fine. Granny Xuan is just a bit upset, with some liver qi stagnation. A couple of days of medication should do the trick," Mu Jingxuan said gently while tidying up.
"Granny Xuan, you need to relax and not overthink things," Mu Jingxuan added with a reminder as he turned.
"Thank you for making the trip, Jingxuan. These people are just prone to worrying. I'm perfectly fine. You should stay for dinner, and let Mo Han host you properly."
Indeed, Granny Xuan had always been in good health.
With a smile, Mu Jingxuan left the medicine and gave some instructions to a maid.
Ji Anlan, who had just entered, saw this scene and a sarcastic curve formed on her lips.
This old woman was so kind to an outsider, yet she had never given her a pleasant look.
However, thinking of Lan Qianqian's frightened appearance just now, she felt a surge of satisfaction.
She hadn't intended to do anything drastic to Lan Qianqian; a beating, a scare, to teach her a lesson about the consequences of fighting over a man.
Did she really think it was over?
How could it be?
Her Mo Han, who never let anyone get close, had held Lan Qianqian that day, kissing her passionately, his expression of desire something she hadn't seen in over ten years.
He belonged only to her…
"I heard you have a girlfriend?"
Mu Jingxuan, dressed in a blue suit, asked Xuan Mo Han, who was lost in thought, from the sofa.
Lu Haoran, that big-mouthed gossip, had let it slip, but only to their circle of brothers.
"Mhm." Aside from Lan Qianqian, and their family and brothers, he wouldn't say another word to anyone else.
Mu Jingxuan smiled faintly. "Congratulations! So you've finally found someone. Should you bring her to meet us brothers sometime?"
Xuan Mo Han raised an eyebrow. "Let's find a time to get together."
"Then you arrange the time and place, and notify us." With that, Mu Jingxuan left.
He was also very curious about what kind of person could capture his brother's notoriously cold heart.
It wasn't just him; he figured none of their brothers were any less curious. Lu Haoran had even summoned the person in question.
After Mu Jingxuan left, Xuan Mo Han stared at his phone, waiting for a new message.
He had told her he had something to do when he left, but she hadn't replied. Was she busy?
"Bzz bzz~" Lan Qianqian, who was drying her hair, heard her phone vibrate on the table. She walked over and saw the caller ID: Mo Han.
She pursed her lips and answered just as the call was about to end. She remained silent.
"What are you doing? Why didn't you reply to my message?"
His tone was as doting as ever, as if the person on the other end was his entire world.
"I was taking a bath just now." Lan Qianqian, with mixed feelings, avoided the latter part of his question.
"Grandma wasn't feeling well earlier, which is why I left."
Although Xuan Mo Han felt it was unnecessary, he still felt compelled to explain.
The fact that someone at the pinnacle of society would explain himself repeatedly likely indicated deep affection.
"Mhm." She let out a muffled sound from her nose.
If he couldn't sense it this time, he wouldn't be Xuan Mo Han.
"Are you unhappy? Or are you angry with me?" Xuan Mo Han felt that this wasn't the real reason, however.
"It's nothing, I've just lost inspiration for my designs." Lan Qianqian replied perfunctorily.
The little one was truly terrible at making excuses; it was obvious she was lying.
"You wait, I'm coming to find you."
With that, Xuan Mo Han grabbed his car keys and strode out.
On the second floor, Ji Anlan, standing at the top of the stairs, watched Xuan Mo Han's receding figure, her clothes almost ripped from her hands.
The car soon arrived downstairs at the old residential complex.
"I'm here. Come down."
Xuan Mo Han gazed at the words "An Ya Ju" at the entrance of the complex, his mind trying to decipher the reason for the little one's unhappiness.
But he couldn't for the life of him figure it out.
Soon, a silhouette appeared in his sight. Dressed in a white dress, she looked pure and ethereal, like a fairy.
Xuan Mo Han's gaze locked onto the young woman, now utterly certain that something was amiss.
Lan Qianqian, who had come downstairs, looked at the man who appeared even more handsome in the moonlight. She didn't rush towards him immediately.
She stood still, but Xuan Mo Han couldn't wait. He strode towards her, his movements gentle.
He cupped her small face in his hands, his thumbs caressing her cheeks. "What's wrong? If something's bothering you, tell me. I'm here for you, okay?"
Listening to his gentle words, his tone akin to coaxing a child, Lan Qianqian struggled for a moment before deciding she needed to get to the bottom of this.
She looked up at him stubbornly. "You have a fiancée, so why are you bothering me?"
"Fiancée? When did I ever have a fiancée?"
Xuan Mo Han was completely taken aback by this. But how could he have a fiancée? The woman in front of him was the only one.
"You still won't admit it? I heard everything. Ji Anlan was raised in your house since she was little, she's your child bride."
Lan Qianqian's tone worsened as she spoke.
Everything that had happened today had caught her off guard, and coupled with the earlier fright, she felt overwhelmed with grievance.
Xuan Mo Han found it rather amusing. He stepped forward and embraced Lan Qianqian's delicate form, his magnetic voice whispering in her ear,
"So, are you jealous?"
"Xuan Mo Han!!"
Lan Qianqian, furious, pushed his tall frame away and immediately turned to leave.
But a strong hand grabbed her and pulled her back into his embrace.
Before she could react, seeing the unprecedented seriousness in Lan Qianqian's eyes, he said,
"I don't have a fiancée, and I will never marry any woman other than you."
"Trust me, okay?"
Perhaps it was the conviction in his eyes that swayed her, but Lan Qianqian gradually calmed down.
She knew Xuan Mo Han never lied. If he said he didn't have one, then he didn't.
Her trust in Xuan Mo Han was so absolute that it would later catch her completely off guard when he did lie.
"Leave this matter to me. Don't think about anything, okay?"
