Lin Hai Ting Tao

Chapter 1 Prologue There is Such a Story

Legend has it...this is just a legend, of course...

The legend goes that in a deep mountain, there was a Bodhisattva temple. The Bodhisattva in the temple was incredibly effective; despite the long and arduous journey, pious men and women still flocked there to pray and seek guidance.

One day, three special guests arrived at the temple. They belonged to three different countries, but they shared the same dream. Having heard that the Bodhisattva here was very efficacious, they had painstakingly found their way to this place. How difficult the journey had been could be seen from their tattered clothes and disheveled appearance.

The Bodhisattva was moved by the three men's perseverance and passion. Although none of them were her followers, she still agreed to answer one question from each of them. The three men were overjoyed.

The Korean man rushed to ask, "Respected Bodhisattva, I am Korean, and a loyal fan of the Korean national football team. I would like to ask, when will the Korean team be able to win the World Cup, the highest honor in the world of football?"

The Korean man heard this, and knowing that he would still be fortunate enough to witness it himself in forty years, he happily thanked the Bodhisattva and stepped aside.

The Japanese man saw that the Korean team would win in just forty years, and thought that Japan was now considered a first-class team in Asia, so they should win even sooner than the Korean team. So, full of hope, he asked, "Bodhisattva, I am a loyal supporter of the Japanese team. Please tell me, when will the Japanese team be able to win the World Cup?"

The Bodhisattva thought for a moment and still replied calmly, "One hundred years."

Upon hearing this, the Japanese man felt like he had been struck by lightning. One hundred years meant he would already be dead. It seemed there was no hope for him in this lifetime. He began to cry sadly in the temple.

The Bodhisattva ignored the grieving Japanese man and asked the last person, "And you?"

The Chinese man thought for a moment and then asked, "Well, I am Chinese. I would like to ask the all-knowing Bodhisattva, when will our Chinese team be able to win the World Cup?"

After asking, he lowered his head and waited for an answer, but he didn't hear the Bodhisattva speak. He looked up to see that the Bodhisattva was crying...
