Chapter 517 A Common Enemy

“Please, don’t do this, I beg you!” Ouyang Zhi covered his mouth, shaking his head frantically.

His tears flowed freely, and soon he was a drowned mess.

Mu Feng sighed, “I don’t want to do this either, but you are the one who made such a bizarre request to eat a table. I’m merely helping you fulfill your wish!”

“No, no, it’s better if you don’t wrong me like this, please don’t…”

Ouyang Zhi kept shaking his head, veins bulging on his forehead.

“Don’t worry, I won’t take your life!” Mu Feng said, breaking off several pieces from the table corner.

Before Ouyang Zhi could react, a piece of the table corner was stuffed into his mouth.

“Swallow it!” Mu Feng commanded.

Ouyang Zhi’s tears gushed out. Helplessly, he followed the order, forcing the table corner down his throat.

The foreign object was incredibly uncomfortable, and he clutched his stomach, his face ashen.

Mu Feng reminded him, “Also, if you vomit it out, I’ll just keep stuffing it down your throat. If you want to alleviate some of the pain, I suggest you don’t throw up for now!”

Ouyang Zhi covered his mouth, finally recovering somewhat.

However, Mu Feng had no intention of letting him off. Piece after piece of wood was unceremoniously shoved into his mouth.

“It hurts, it hurts so much!” Ouyang Zhi gasped for breath. The few pieces of wood in his stomach lodged in his intestines, the pain more agonizing than childbirth.

Mu Feng rubbed his nose, “Didn’t you finish eating it? That’s good, that’s good!”

Ouyang Zhi was too terrified to look up, fearing the man would demand he eat another piece.

Half his life was gone. It could be said that if even one more piece of wood were in his stomach, his life would be over.

“Do you want to eat more? I think you have a good appetite!” Mu Feng teased.

Ouyang Zhi’s face turned pale with fear, and he shook his head like a rattle.

“No, no, I’m full. I don’t want to eat anymore, please, I really don’t want to eat anymore…”

Mu Feng nodded, “Since that’s the case, then let it be. I hope you’ll conduct yourself properly!”

Ouyang Zhi, thoroughly terrified, gritted his teeth and fled the scene without looking back.

He didn’t want to stay another moment, desperately wanting to get to a hospital to have the foreign objects removed from his stomach.

Mu Feng didn’t stop him, letting him leave.

The conference room erupted in thunderous applause. Everyone felt a great sense of satisfaction.

Director Qu, beaming, walked over and led everyone in a deep bow.

“Mr. Mu, hello. Thank you so much for rescuing our children!” he said politely.

Mu Feng smiled courteously, “It was nothing. But you all really need to keep a close eye on your children, as there are still many bad people around!”

Director Qu nodded repeatedly, “Mr. Mu, you’re right. Oh, and this is for you, please accept it!”

Mu Feng took it and looked closer. It was a check.

But the amount was frankly astonishing; he couldn’t even count the number of zeros.

“This is?” Mu Feng asked.

Director Qu said respectfully, “Mr. Mu, this is your reward, twenty billion in total. You absolutely must accept it. Our custom is that misfortune is averted with wealth. After such a significant event, these funds must be spent, and they rightfully belong to you, our benefactor!”

The other family members also took out banknotes and stuffed them into Mu Feng’s arms.

Some families were well-off, while others were of average means, but all contributed what they felt was appropriate given their circumstances.

After accepting the check, Mu Feng smiled faintly, “Everyone, I’ll accept this check. If you wish to express your gratitude, please thank this gentleman. Consider it as if this gentleman is solely responsible for this contribution!”

Director Qu was overjoyed, and the other family members expressed their polite thanks.

His face was ruddy, and he was in an exceptionally good mood.

“President Mu, you are truly remarkable and so capable. I’m definitely going to be your friend!”

Director Qu laughed heartily and extended his hand.

Mu Feng coughed awkwardly but still shook his hand.

“Alright, it’s getting late. Everyone should take their children home quickly!”

Director Qu quickly said, “Mr. Mu, would you do us the honor of having dinner tonight? Let me properly thank you!”

Mu Feng shook his head without a second thought, “No need for dinner. I have many things to attend to tonight. Alright everyone, I’ll be leaving now!”

With that, he left the conference room. The others, after a moment’s consideration, did not follow.

After all, everyone shared the same thought: to quickly take their children home, for home was the safest harbor.

Meanwhile, Ouyang Zhi, having dejectedly left the newspaper office, headed to the hospital alone.

After a series of stomach lavages, the foreign objects were finally cleared from his stomach.

Lying on the hospital bed, he was receiving an IV drip, his complexion slightly improved.

However, every time he recalled the scene of Mu Feng forcibly feeding him the wooden planks, he felt a chill run down his spine.

“Kid, I will never let you get away with this. You humiliated me in front of so many people, and you will die a miserable death!”

His fists clenched, making cracking sounds, and his teeth gnashed together.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of the single room.

“Mr. Ouyang, someone outside wants to see you!” a nurse entered.

Ouyang Zhi, filled with anger, waved his hand, “I’m not seeing anyone. Lock the door, I don’t want to see anyone!”

As soon as he spoke, a man with a scar on his face, looking fierce and menacing, walked in.

“Who allowed you in? Didn’t I say I’m not seeing anyone?” Ouyang Zhi snapped.

The man walked over as if no one else was there, “Mr. Ouyang, there’s no need to be angry. You and I have a common enemy, so there’s no need for this!”

“A common enemy? What do you mean?” he frowned.

The man continued, “Of course, it’s Mu Feng. Don’t you want to take his life?”

Ouyang Zhi snorted, “I don’t know how you found me, nor do I know how you know I have a grudge against him. But killing him is child’s play for me. I haven’t sunk so low as to need to cooperate with anyone!”

“Is that so? Do you really think you can kill him on your own? That’s laughable!” the man chuckled.

“He just got lucky. Frankly, I could find a bunch of thugs and chop him to death!” Ouyang Zhi said dismissively.

The man took out his phone and tossed it onto the hospital bed, saying calmly, “Watch this video yourself, and you’ll realize how foolish your words are!”

Ouyang Zhi blinked. Though he didn’t believe it, he still grabbed the phone and clicked on the video the man had prepared.
