Chapter 7 The Consequences of Stepping Forward

“Who are you? Let go of me,” Zhao Peng gritted out, enduring the pain as he glared at Mu Feng.

His bodyguards’ expressions instantly turned furious. Their fists clenched, and they fixed a menacing gaze on Mu Feng, ready to attack.

However, in the next second, Mu Feng exerted force on his palm. A crisp cracking sound echoed from Zhao Peng’s shoulder blade. Zhao Peng let out a pained cry, his body involuntarily buckling as he knelt before Mu Feng.

This scene terrified everyone in the Wang family.

“Are you out of your mind, daring to hit me?”

“All of you, attack! Rip off his arm and feed it to the dogs.”

Zhao Peng gritted his teeth, sweat beading on his forehead. He glared at Mu Feng and commanded his bodyguards.

The two bodyguards surged forward simultaneously. They were both professionally trained, with exceptional combat skills, capable of taking on ten opponents with ease.

*Slap, slap, slap!*

Unexpectedly, before they could even reach Mu Feng, he casually slapped them away, leaving them disoriented.

One of them, seizing an opportunity when Mu Feng wasn’t looking, suddenly produced a dagger and charged. A cold glint flashed in Mu Feng’s eyes. With speed imperceptible to the attacker, he appeared to his side and effortlessly disarmed him.

The dagger flashed. In Mu Feng’s hands, it swept back and forth like lightning, performing a dazzling display. When he stopped, the bodyguard’s clothes were riddled with hundreds of holes, yet not a single cut had broken his skin.

Such swordsmanship was beyond the capabilities of ordinary men.

The bodyguard’s legs trembled uncontrollably, his arrogant demeanor vanishing instantly.

“Get lost.”

Mu Feng hurled the dagger forcefully onto the ground and roared at the men before him.

Zhao Peng, stunned, quickly recovered and, along with his men, turned and fled in disarray.

The Wang family watched this scene, their jaws slack with astonishment.

“Shasha, are you alright?” Aunt Wang Yueqin rushed to Meng Sha’s side, anxiously examining her.

“I’m fine, Mom,” Meng Sha replied gently, looking at Mu Feng with surprise. “Who is he…”

“Are you scared silly? You don’t even recognize your cousin Mu Feng?” Wang Yueqin said, a smile appearing on her face as she glanced at her.

“Cousin? It really is you, cousin! You… I’ve missed you so much.”

Meng Sha’s beautiful eyes blinked. She threw herself into Mu Feng’s embrace, shouting with emotion. She had often played with Mu Feng in the past, and they had always been close. But ever since Mu Feng disappeared, she hadn’t seen him. In her momentary daze, she hadn't recognized him!

Mu Feng patted her head and smiled. “Alright Shasha, let’s go back and eat.”

“Okay.” Meng Sha happily agreed, turning to follow the others back to the private room for their meal.

Just then, Wang Guiqin let out a cold snort, glancing dismissively at Mu Feng. “What a troublemaker. All he does is cause trouble for the Wang family. Can you afford to provoke Zhao Peng? Even my son doesn’t dare to offend him, yet you dared to hit him. I say our Wang family won’t have good days ahead.”

“Hush,” Grandpa Wang’s brows furrowed sternly. He looked at her and said, “Your own son is useless, and you blame others for being outstanding? If it weren’t for Mu Feng just now, you and your son would have been beaten to death, and Yueqin’s family would have been dragged into it unnecessarily.”

“Dad, I…”

“Guiqin, just stop talking. Dad is absolutely right. If it weren’t for Mu Feng, our Wang family would have truly been in trouble. Mu Feng is our family’s benefactor.” Before Wang Guiqin could speak, Wang Yueqin spoke up in Mu Feng’s defense.

Meng Sha also snorted dismissively at Wang Guiqin, knowing full well the kind of people they were.

Back in the private room, Meng Sha sat beside Mu Feng, enthusiastically serving him dishes, appearing very affectionate. Mu Feng accepted and, in turn, served his maternal grandfather and his aunt’s family. Wang Guiqin and her son ate in silence, seething with unspoken resentment.

After the meal, Grandpa Wang, accompanied by his third daughter’s family and Mu Feng, descended the stairs, beaming. Arriving at the counter, Mu Feng smiled at Shen Weihao and said, “Didn’t you say you were treating? Then go and pay the bill.”

“Hmph, fine, I’ll pay,” Shen Weihao retorted dismissively. He walked to the counter, pulled out his wallet, and asked, “Let me settle the bill. How much did we consume?”

“Hello, your table’s total consumption is forty-eight thousand yuan,” the beautiful cashier replied with a smile.

“How much?” Shen Weihao’s mouth gaped open, his eyes nearly popping out. This meal cost nearly fifty thousand yuan? His monthly salary was only four thousand. This single meal had consumed his entire year’s earnings. He felt a pang of heartache!

Hearing the price, Wang Guiqin’s temper flared. She was picking her teeth and immediately rushed over, her eyes wide, arguing with the cashier. “You black-hearted establishment! What did we eat that you’re charging us fifty thousand?”

“Get me your manager! I want to complain about you.” Her outburst quickly drew the attention of surrounding customers and staff. Everyone looked at her with disdain. This was already the city’s most upscale restaurant, frequented by the wealthy and influential. For a family to dine here and spend forty to fifty thousand yuan was normal. Her outburst, however, made her appear as someone with no manners and no money.

“Hello madam, our menu prices are clearly marked, and we are not a black-hearted establishment as you claim. In your situation, complaining to me is useless. Moreover, your noisy behavior is disturbing other customers.” The cashier explained calmly with a smile. “Please be quiet, or we will have to call security.”

“What did you say? You mean I’m being unreasonable? I’ve dined in thousands of restaurants and never encountered one like yours. You say I’m disturbing them? What am I disturbing?” Wang Guiqin, being unreasonable, continued to shout, attracting even more onlookers.

Just as the staff were at a loss and about to call security, Shen Weihao rushed over and covered Wang Guiqin’s mouth. “Mom, stop making a scene. Look, so many people are here watching me make a fool of myself.”

“Eating in a place like this is indeed expensive. Don’t embarrass yourself further.” He then quickly apologized to the cashier and paid the bill himself. Although his heart ached as the money was swiped, it was better than his mother causing a scene and becoming a laughingstock. If she escalated the situation, it would ultimately affect him, possibly even jeopardizing his job.

“They are over there. Dad, you must get revenge for me. They were the ones who beat me just now,” a cold voice suddenly came from outside the restaurant.
