Chapter 297 Worse Than Beasts

Mu Feng's lips curved into a faint smile, making no move to stop them, not even uttering a word.

However, Old Man Zhang, kneeling at the doorway, suddenly slapped Madam Du's face fiercely.

"Slap!"

The crisp sound of the slap was exceptionally loud.

Madam Du reeled from the blow, her head buzzing. Yet, the extreme fear of death forced her to stay conscious.

She struggled to her feet from the ground.

Her eyes were now filled with only pleading and terror: "Mu Feng, I'm kneeling to you. Please spare me."

"As long as you spare me, I'll do anything you want from now on."

Mu Feng raised an eyebrow: "Anything at all?"

Seeing a glimmer of hope for survival, Madam Du nodded like a pecking chick: "Yes, as long as you spare me, even if you ask me to do the dirtiest things in the world, I will do so without hesitation."

"There's no need for such trouble. Today, only one of you, mother and son, can walk out of this hospital room."

"I'm giving you this chance to choose your own fate."

"For the mistakes you've made, you should both have died directly. But I feel it would be too cruel to let you both die, so I'm sparing one of you. Let's see who is more willing to make the sacrifice."

After speaking, Mu Feng turned and left without even a second glance.

Old Man Zhang's eyes were filled with surprise. Being a man of vast experience, he had guessed Mu Feng's intention.

This matter would likely end here. Mu Feng wouldn't bother seeking further trouble from the Zhang family, and the Zhang family wasn't worthy of Mu Feng's constant attention. They were like ants; as long as Mu Feng didn't trouble them, they would remain hidden and barely survive.

Watching Mu Feng's retreating back disappear, Old Man Zhang stood up, his eyes burning with immense fury.

"You despicable pair! Our Zhang family suffered so much humiliation because of you back then, and we were mocked for years."

"Now that the matter had finally settled down, you actually provoked Mr. Mu again."

"Do you have any idea that for Mr. Mu to kill our entire Zhang family would be as easy as killing chickens and dogs?"

Madam Du's body trembled incessantly. Her eyes also showed remorse: "Second Uncle, I didn't know Mu Feng was so powerful, nor do I know what strong forces he has behind him."

"I truly regret it now. Mu Feng has already left. Can you please spare our mother and son?"

"Spare you?" Old Man Zhang's face was full of mockery. "Then who will spare our entire Zhang family?"

"This is all your own doing. Don't think I don't know what happened. I arrived long ago and heard everything clearly from outside."

"However, if you had shown a little kindness, when Mu Feng cured that little bastard, you should have chosen to coexist peacefully with Mu Feng. If you had let that matter pass, you wouldn't be in this predicament now, nor would you have plunged our entire Zhang family into eternal damnation."

As he spoke, Old Man Zhang's anger seemed to manifest physically: "But you have a heart of a viper."

"Listen to the words you spoke, even this old man feels like killing you all directly."

"Especially that little bastard, who actually dared to covet Miss Su. Are you trying to reach the heavens?"

The more he spoke, the angrier he became. He took out a sword from his person, his eyes filled with chilling killing intent.

However, he did not act himself. Instead, he threw the sword directly onto the ground.

"As Mr. Mu said when he left, only one of you can leave this hospital room alive."

"Choose yourselves. I don't care who dies, but one of you must die here."

Upon hearing this, Du Chao suddenly jumped up, picked up the sword without hesitation, and plunged it into Madam Du's heart.

His eyes were filled with manic madness: "Mom, you've lived for so many years, and I am still young. I don't want to die."

"I know that with your personality, you would never easily let me off and would want to kill me. And I am just a little bastard. Since I've already fallen into such a state, I will only be able to find a corner to live out my days."

"I will burn offerings for you in the future. Rest in peace!"

With that, he pulled the sword out, blood splattering onto his face.

Madam Du's eyes widened, her mouth opening to say something, but blood had already choked her throat.

Her eyes, gradually losing their luster, were filled with unwillingness and disbelief.

Du Chao's gaze was ferocious and twisted, yet his eyes held a crazed joy as he turned to look at Old Man Zhang.

Old Man Zhang was also greatly shocked.

He clearly hadn't expected Du Chao to act so quickly, and to so mercilessly kill his own mother.

"As expected of a bastard," he sneered when he recovered.

Du Chao said with a trembling voice, "I have fulfilled Mr. Mu's instructions. Can I leave now?"

Old Man Zhang said nothing. He walked out of the hospital room.

Mu Feng had told him earlier that only one person could leave.

But he hadn't said what fate awaited the one who walked out.

Du Chao's face was filled with excitement. He threw the sword to the ground and rushed out quickly.

The hope of survival was before him.

However, as soon as he stepped out of the hospital room, he saw Old Man Zhang's killing intent-filled gaze: "I remember Mr. Mu said earlier that one person could live. Now that my mother is dead, the one who survived is me."

"You can't kill me, or the entire Zhang family will never forgive you."

Old Man Zhang's face revealed a cold sneer: "You little bastard, I don't know what Mr. Mu meant by his words."

"Now that you have walked out of this hospital room, your life and death are no longer in your own hands."

"Mr. Mu might be too lazy to bother with the likes of you, not even considering you important. But our Zhang family will not let you off easily."

"You've committed such an outrageous act. I absolutely cannot let this matter spread, nor can I let you live."

"Otherwise, our Zhang family will become a laughingstock again, having produced a beast like you."

Upon hearing this, Du Chao felt a wave of dread. He turned to rush back into the hospital room, but as soon as he turned, he felt a hand grab the back of his neck.

He struggled and shouted, "Good sir, let go of me quickly. Don't do anything rash, or Mu Feng won't..."

Before his words could finish, the icy killing intent enveloped him.

"Mr. Mu won't bother with the likes of you. If I don't kill you, my heart will never be at peace."
