Chapter 148: A dangerous fall

Chapter 148: A dangerous fall

It will be edited soon.

Then he witnessed the bullet’s final bounce, which hit that magic in one of the corners and began to descend.

Since it bounced off a place not meant to bounce, the bullet lost quite a bit of force.

But it managed to fall onto the meteorite with precision.

Now, could that force alter the meteorite’s speed?

It was very difficult.

The speed of that thing was too much, and it hadn’t slowed down even a little, so it was difficult to tell at a glance.

Therefore, Louis focused on looking at the system. It would give him the answer, sooner or later.

He didn’t realize that this was the most dangerous thing.

Soon...

[Accelerate the process of a meteorite falling: complete.]

A happy smile formed on his face, and he felt incredibly good. He hadn’t accelerated it much, but at least he had accomplished the mission.

The one he thought would be the most difficult and perhaps the one that would take away his mission was finally complete.

But then, he felt something dragging him to one side, and the heat hit him full force.

His body was dragged to the bottom of the mountain by Hardrial, and they both witnessed the meteorite’s immediate fall right next to where they were, on the huge magnetic rock.

After witnessing this, they saw a terrifying explosion of fire that spread in all directions across the mountain, but they were saved by the skin of their teeth.

Although being saved was perhaps not a reality, as they fell down the mountain, hitting all kinds of magic-fortified rocks and trees that looked like iron stakes. In addition, powerful wind and earth magic below, due to the explosion, began to move huge rocks.

Louis knew about him, until several trees were stuck in his body like iron stakes and a huge rock hit him on the head, knocking him unconscious.

--

After an unknown period of time, Louis slowly opened his eyes. His body ached, but something seemed to be wiping him down with wet cloths and some kind of ointment all over his body.

He was in shock.

"What happened?" he thought.

The last thing he remembered was having to speed up the process of a meteorite falling...

"I did it, right?" he thought.

Then he remembered something else. He fell off a cliff, with numerous iron stakes piercing his body and a rock hitting him on the head until he lost consciousness.

All of that could have killed him, but was he alive?

He opened his eyes with difficulty and saw a beautiful face looking at him with some concern.

"Why are the potions having so little effect on him?" Laura asked strangely.

Hardrial had already recovered, even though he hadn’t been hurt as badly as Louis, but they used the same potions, didn’t they? Shouldn’t it heal everyone equally?

Those most in need, most!

But no, the world didn’t seem that easy.

Hardrial smiled. "He was hit by wind and earth magic continuously, after a fire explosion almost completely charred him. In addition, he fell down the mountain, I’m afraid he has so many wounds that even the potions will take a long time to heal."

"Louis!" Laura cried out with strange joy when she saw him open his eyes.

He stared at her for a moment. He hadn’t expected to see such beauty in front of him when he opened his eyes. What’s more, that beauty was Laura, which meant she hadn’t died.

Then he looked further away and saw Hardrial staring at him. He also looked worried.

"Thank you, Professor," he said.

Then he looked at Laura. "How long has it been?" he asked.

"One day. Are you feeling okay?" she asked as she watched him try to sit up, so she helped him do so very carefully.

Louis nodded. "Fine, I don’t think so, but at least I’m not dead," he said, smiling. He grabbed her hand and thanked her. "Thank you, it seems I’ve worried you," he said.

She shook her head to tell him not to worry, but that’s when they both realized they were very close to each other. They could practically feel each other’s breath without any problem.

Laura immediately blushed and quickly moved away. "Don’t worry," she said, feeling embarrassed.

Louis sighed. ’What a pity,’ he thought. He found her breath very enjoyable and it stirred up some rather exciting feelings in him.

But he didn’t dwell on the matter.

He looked at his own body. He was injured inside. Several broken bones and organs that seemed to have shifted out of place.

"Sigh. Nothing to be done." He thought and searched the system store for something to heal him.

There were many healing items in this place. From potions to ointments and from ointments to very strange and horrible things that supposedly healed.

He didn’t focus on anything weird, he just looked at some strange pills he had seen before. It said:

[2 Tablets of 3 Pills. Each with the ability to heal your body from almost any injury, even if it has magic that prevents recovery. Recover bones and repair organs. If you take all three, you will either die of an overdose or rise again like a phoenix.]

[Price: 200 System Coins.]

"Sigh. This shit is really expensive," he thought.

It cost practically 20 billion Jens!

If it weren’t for the fact that his current injuries could take months to heal, due to the presence of magic that impeded his recovery, he wouldn’t even consider buying it.

But he had to buy it. Soon, 200 coins disappeared from his total balance and the pills appeared in his inventory.

He took one out and, without thinking twice, swallowed it.

The moment it was in his mouth and going down his throat, he closed his eyes and clenched his teeth.

It tasted terrible.

Never in his life had he tasted anything so disgusting that it made him want to vomit about 10 times in less than 5 seconds. Fortunately, the moment it reached his stomach, it began to work and disintegrated it in no time.

Then, the effects began to emerge.

"AHHH!" A loud scream came out of his mouth at that moment, and he fell backward, writhing in pain.

Hardrial and Laura were alarmed. "Louis?! What’s wrong?!"

They both rushed to help him, but all they could do was watch him writhe in pain.

That pain was difficult to describe. To begin with, he could feel his bones being moved firmly and stuck together. When they were stuck together, with ligaments, veins, arteries, nerves, and everything else, it was too painful.

It was as if, instead of healing him, they were crushing him.

His screams were so loud that even the beasts in the river came up to see what the hell was going on and stared in bewilderment at the rascal who had previously thrown a meteorite at them, now writhing in pain.

Many of those beasts felt joy. If they were human, they might have thought: karma.

But since they weren’t, they just rejoiced in his pain.

That pain continued in him and intensified, until it stopped, about two hours later.

Hardrial looked at him unconscious and frowned.

"Pain that heals..." he said. He put his hand to his chin.

He felt like he remembered something like that, but he didn’t know where from.

"Pain that can heal is not something of this era," he thought, but he couldn’t understand where that treasure he had swallowed came from either.

"It looked like a pill..." he thought and tried to remember.

Even though he felt like he remembered something, his mind wandered among memories and he couldn’t grasp any of them to scrutinize them. Basically, his mind didn’t want to remember.

Those memories seemed to be fading from his memory, perhaps because of the stress levels he had been dealing with lately.

He ended up ignoring his own thoughts. If it was important, he would surely remember it later or investigate it again when he returned to the Academy.

For now, he focused on helping Laura keep Louis in the right place until he woke up, about 15 minutes later.

He got up carefully. Every time he remembered that previous pain, his whole body trembled.

"Damn it, I’ll never take that crap again," he thought.

Even though he now realized that he had no injuries, which meant that the pill had worked perfectly, he had no interest in seeing them again.

In fact, he felt that all his money had been wasted, even though he enjoyed its benefits.

He was even afraid to move his wrists or legs, as he felt that the pain would return, so it took him more than 15 minutes to start moving normally.

Finally, Laura looked at him. "Are you really okay? You looked like you were going to die a few hours ago," she said, looking at him as if he were some kind of monster.

He laughed, trying to avoid moving as much as possible (he seemed traumatized). "Physically, I’m fine now," he said.

"You don’t look like it. You’re pale and you move like one of those industrial robots," she said.

"Haha..." He didn’t know what to say, so he had to remain silent. He didn’t want to remember that pain, so he looked at Hardrial, who was standing silently, watching them from the side.

"Did the meteorite fall here?" he asked.

"Yes." Hardrial looked up. "The fire is over, it’s safe to go up, but the question is, do you want to go up?" he asked.

When people go through that kind of situation, they tend to be traumatized. So that question was well-founded.

Louis smiled. "Of course. I still have to destroy a meteorite," he said.
