Chapter 2 The Black Cat

Seeing Yu Zhibo turn and leave, the black cat immediately looked arrogant. Although the expressions of humans and cats are not the same, its expression gave off an inexplicable sense of pride, as if it was satisfied with its strength and disdained the cowardly and foolish human.

Then it began to lick the wound on its chest, which was a deep gash, but not obvious because it was too dark.

Clearly, it had paid a price for defeating a black dog that was dozens of times larger than itself.

Meanwhile, Yu Zhibo wasn't running away. He was actually coveting the black dog's blood that had spilled all over the ground.

The dog was killed by the cat, so there was no need to consider whether it was cruel to take blood from a dog. He could just take the blood.

Yu Zhibo went to a nearby convenience store, bought a can of eight-treasure porridge, hesitated for a moment, and then bought a sausage. After quickly finishing the eight-treasure porridge, he threw out the residue, holding the can in his left hand and the sausage with a spoon in his right, and rushed towards the alley.

Footsteps approached from a distance. Seeing him return, the black cat, which was licking its wound, bristled, let out a low growl from its throat, and watched him vigilantly.

"Brother Cat, don't be angry. I'm here to get the black dog's blood. Could you please let me? I'll buy you cat food later." Yu Zhibo said with a fawning smile. The claw that had cut his throat left an indelible impression on him.

The black cat seemed to understand human language and didn't react aggressively. It just glanced at him, jumped off the dog's head, and walked with a feline gait to the shadow by the trash can to continue licking its wound.

Seeing the black cat move aside, Yu Zhibo couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Then he peeled the sausage he had just bought and placed it in front of the black cat.

The black cat tilted its head, looked at him, and then began to eat.

Yu Zhibo chuckled and then turned his gaze to the dead dog, his expression unchanged.

Everyone came from the stage of being a troublesome and universally disliked child. Yu Zhibo was a little scared of the mysterious black cat, but he wasn't afraid of a dead dog at all.

When he visited his grandfather in the countryside during Chinese New Year, Yu Zhibo had seen his grandfather kill chickens many times. He immediately treated the black dog like a chicken. He grabbed the dead dog by its tail with one hand and its head with the other, bent it upwards, and positioned the wound over the eight-treasure porridge can on the ground. Immediately, the black dog's blood flowed into the can, quickly filling it halfway.

While draining the dog's blood, Yu Zhibo also saw the black dog's testicles. It was a male dog, and male dog blood was considered more potent. He gave it a thumbs up.

Unfortunately, it had taken him a while to buy the eight-treasure porridge, and a lot of the black dog's blood had spilled on the ground and gone to waste. The dog's blood only filled two-thirds of the eight-treasure porridge can, and then it went from flowing to dripping into the can.

His hands holding the dog's head and tail trembled again. After he could no longer squeeze out any blood, he put the black dog back on the ground, used the plastic spoon to dig into the wound, and found no new blood flowing out. Then he put the black dog aside and squatted down to scoop up the blood flowing on the ground. Gradually, the black dog's blood in the can rose from two-thirds to three-quarters full.

Yu Zhibo nodded with satisfaction, stood up, took the plastic lid from his back pocket to cover the can, and was about to leave to continue eating wontons at the wonton shop.

The can of eight-treasure porridge he had eaten in a hurry would be considered a pre-meal dessert.

His special ability was the Sharingan, and the Uchiha bloodline was delivered with the Sharingan. Since he obtained the Uchiha bloodline, he had clearly felt his appetite increase significantly.

As he turned to leave, he saw that the black cat by the trash can had its eyelids drooping, its head lowered, and it had lost all its energy, a stark contrast to its arrogance just a moment ago.

Seeing Yu Zhibo approach, it didn't react aggressively, just looked at him weakly.

"Are you injured?" Yu Zhibo walked to the trash can and squatted down. Upon closer inspection, he indeed found a bleeding wound near the black cat's armpit.

"Brother Cat, do you need help?" Yu Zhibo asked, standing up and rummaging through the trash can for a relatively clean black plastic bag. "If you need help, just get in yourself, and I'll take you to a pet hospital to get it checked."

The black cat glanced at the plastic bag, then stared at him for a while, walked to the opening of the bag, hesitated for a moment, rubbed against his hand, and then got in.

Yu Zhibo's lips curled up. He took a couple of steps with the plastic bag, then thought about it, cradled the plastic bag containing the black cat, and ran towards the pet hospital.

In his arms, the black cat inside the black plastic bag looked at him with its big, dark eyes, blinking.

The pet hospital was located at the end of a commercial street, around a corner. After Yu Zhibo pushed open the glass door with the cat and the can, he found that there were quite a few animals here, mostly stray cats and dogs. Some of them were covered in wounds and had their fur shaved off, making the entire place look like a military hospital.

Yu Zhibo's good mood vanished instantly. He actually liked pets very much. When he was in elementary school, his family had a very fat orange cat, and he had a deep affection for it. However, it died later, and he and his sister cried their hearts out, so his family never kept pets again.

Yu Zhibo could see that among these injured cats and dogs, a minority were injured from fighting with their own kind, while the majority were harmed by humans. He also saw many cats and dogs huddled in corners, with timid eyes and burn marks from cigarette butts on their bodies.

A female store employee wearing a mask and thick-rimmed glasses, and a white apron with a Hello Kitty cat print, approached. While putting on gloves, she looked at the plastic bag in Yu Zhibo's arms. Good heavens, a black cat was nestled inside, and she almost couldn't see it.

Seeing Yu Zhibo carrying a pet in such a manner, she became displeased and asked with a frown, "What's the situation?"

"Fought with a dog, the wound is a bit deep," Yu Zhibo replied.

Hearing this, the female employee carefully took the plastic bag and said reproachfully, "Don't you have a pet carrier? Why use a plastic bag? Also, why don't you look after your own cat? I heard there's a rabid dog in the neighborhood that has killed many stray cats and dogs. You need to be careful next time and not let it go out freely."

Yu Zhibo could tell that the employee was a very kind person and didn't get angry, but he didn't indulge her either. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Why are you being so fierce? This is a stray cat. I found it injured after fighting with a dog, so I brought it here."

"A stray cat?" The employee was a little surprised. She looked at the black cat in her hands. The cat's fur was black, shiny, and lustrous, not at all like a stray cat.

Perhaps sensing that the female employee was there to help it, the black cat didn't resist at all. Feeling the employee looking at it, it blinked its big, black pearl-like eyes, its pupils almost filling its entire eyes, making it incredibly adorable. The employee's heart melted, and she reached out a finger to gently stroke its forehead.

Yu Zhibo replied, "I found it at the corner of Alley 7 in Nanbian Village." He also felt that this cat was extraordinary.

"Nonsense, what normal cat can take down a black dog dozens of times its size?"

Sensing that Yu Zhibo wasn't lying, the female employee's gaze towards him softened considerably. "What a kindhearted young man who loves cats!"

"Do you plan to take this cat home and raise it?" the female employee asked casually as she placed the cat on the table and began to examine it.

Yu Zhibo said, "My family used to have one, but then we stopped. Because when you raise a pet, it becomes like family. But as you know, pets don't live as long as humans..."

As he spoke, Yu Zhibo's expression became less calm. He was reminded of his family's fat orange cat greeting him with its round body after school when he was in elementary school.

"I understand completely, but it really depends on fate between people and cats. The fact that this cat is willing to let you bring it here means it has already begun to trust you. Unlike ordinary cats, most stray cats are much more wary of humans than you can imagine. If you give up on it, it will be difficult to find a cat with more fate with you next time."

Yu Zhibo was somewhat moved and hesitated, making an excuse: "I heard black cats are unlucky."

Before he could finish, his voice was interrupted by a meow.

"Meow~" The black cat suddenly raised its head, placed a paw on the female employee's hand, opened its mouth to meow, dragging out a long sound, and stared at him with its dark, lustrous eyes, its ears pressed back like airplane wings, looking very angry.

The female employee chuckled, stroked the cat's head to calm it down, and said, "That's a Western superstition. They even say black cats are transformed witches! It's different in the East. You should know that black cats are also called Xuanmao, and they can ward off evil spirits. Look how intelligent it is. I won't say more; you can look it up on Baidu yourself."

Seeing that he remained silent, the female employee shook her head slightly and continued, "The cat's injuries aren't serious. Its ribs also have varying degrees of damage, and it has lost quite a bit of blood. After it's treated, it will need to stay here for a few days to recuperate. I'll give you a week. If you don't come to pick up the cat after a week, I'll keep it."

The female employee was very skilled at treating animal wounds. After the examination, she shaved the fur, disinfected the wound, applied medication, and stitched it up, all in one go. Throughout the entire process, the black cat cooperated obediently.

"That will be one hundred and sixty."

Yu Zhibo scanned and paid, then turned to leave. When he reached the door, he turned back and glanced at the black cat, finding that it was also looking at him.

Its pair of clear, bright black eyes seemed to hold a certain expectation.

Yu Zhibo sighed and walked back to stroke the black cat's head. "I'll pick you up in a few days."

"Meow~" The meow was exceptionally clear.

Seeing this, the female employee's eyes also curved slightly.
