Braised Eggplant with Minced Pork
In the hospital…
Well, I'm not really one to put everything in a book. If something's up, I'll mostly just chat about it in the group.
Before, we moved from Lishui to Fuyang, to my mother-in-law's house, so that my wife would have more people to take care of her when she gave birth.
Because my own mother's health is also very poor, we didn't go to my house, and my wife doesn't like my mother's cooking anyway.
Moving definitely isn't something one person can do; my wife had to help pack and carry things.
Back then, when we were busy, she usually drank pure milk, but she stopped for a few days. I thought there wouldn't be any problems in the later stages of pregnancy, so I didn't pay attention.
Later, we went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said her amniotic fluid was low.
At first, I didn't understand what it meant for the amniotic fluid to be low, but later I learned that if the amniotic fluid is low, the baby might suffocate and would need to have a premature cesarean section.
If a natural birth is possible, that's definitely the way to go; it's better for the mother.
Later, the doctor told her to go back and drink water for three days, then come back for a check-up. If it was still low, she might have to have a C-section immediately.
That day was November 27th, a Tuesday. Three days later was Friday, which happened to be November 30th. The next day, my book was supposed to be released, and I was especially flustered.
Because if my wife really went into labor, I wouldn't have time to deal with the release.
I was worried the whole time during that check-up, because I'd said before that I'd put a lot of effort into this book.
But honestly, no matter how much effort I put in, if my wife really went into labor, I would definitely take care of her.
That day passed with a lot of anxiety. Luckily, the amniotic fluid index increased by 0.5 that day. I don't know what that meant exactly, but the doctor said to go back, drink more water, and rest for a week before coming back.
I breathed a sigh of relief then. Thankfully, the release wasn't affected.
Some people in the group know about this, but most people probably don't.
The backlog of chapters, yes, the reason I said before that I wanted to have 100 chapters saved up before the release wasn't to show off, but just to give everyone confidence that I wouldn't stop updating, even if my wife went into labor.
But in reality, going to the hospital for check-ups again and again, moving, and then driving my brother-in-law around—all these miscellaneous things—I don't know why there were so many things happening here.
And then the release came with a massive update, a minimum of five chapters a day, and I didn't have much time to write, plus I deleted a lot of chapters that seemed like filler, like the Drew League stuff. You have no idea how fast that stockpile was used up.
A lot of people said that I had a stockpile and didn't do any big releases or anything. If you knew about all this, you wouldn't say that, but I can't talk about this every day.
This is my job, and I have to overcome these things, so I can only try to keep updating.
The six chapters I updated today are actually the last of my stockpile.
I'm waiting outside the delivery room now, hoping that my wife and child are safe.
Then, tomorrow, I'll have my mother-in-law stay with her, and I'll go back and write.
Ten chapters, ten hours, I'll definitely get them out.
A child is born, it should be celebrated.
Making you all happy means updating more.
I hope, mother and child are safe.
