Chapter 85 Let's Dig In

Xie Xue watched the two students deftly toss and catch the jellyfish carcass. The jellyfish then disappeared, clearly having been placed in storage.

A man beside Xie Xue whistled subconsciously at the sight. "That's some efficient work!"

Xie Xue's expression shifted slightly upon hearing the man's comment. He responded with a rather helpless tone, "Master Wen, you're… joking again."

Xie Xue thought about Wen Bo, a genius mecha technician. He had retired but was only persuaded to come because their situation was dire and they were short on mecha technicians. Yet, this genius mecha technician was really as unfocused as the rumors suggested!

Was this the time to be concerned about such things? Moreover, as a renowned mecha technician, was whistling at students appropriate?

Wen Bo clearly ignored Xie Xue's words and instead said to him, "Don't be so boring. All your princes are like this. Don't all be like Xie You, so incredibly dull!"

Xie Xue waved his hands repeatedly upon hearing Wen Bo's words. "I'm not a prince, please don't say that."

Wen Bo no longer engaged him in further conversation. Instead, he shouted to Meng Huai, "Girl, amazing!"

This jellyfish had troubled them for many days. Meng Huai had resolved it in a few moves upon arrival. He just didn't know what Meng Huai had used to deal with the tentacles.

Meng Huai heard the voice and found it somewhat familiar. She turned her head to look and was somewhat surprised.

"Uncle, why are you here?"

Xie Xue heard Meng Huai call him "Uncle" and asked curiously, "Master Wen, do you two know each other?"

Meng Huai had already walked over and happened to overhear Xie Xue's question. She asked Wen Bo, "Master Wen? Uncle, aren't you supposed to be minding your shop? Why are you here?"

It turned out that Wen Bo was the middle-aged shop owner who sold mecha materials. Wen Bo said to Meng Huai, "Girl, you're even more impressive than you were during the freshman assessment!"

Meng Huai was surprised. "Uncle, you watched the freshman assessment live broadcast?"

"Yes. Knowing that a few of you were participating, I was bored and decided to watch."

"You're bored? You sleep all day and don't even look after the shop properly."

Xie Xue listened to the back-and-forth between the two and felt they were kindred spirits. However, he still said to Meng Huai, "This is Master Wen Bo, a renowned mecha technician who achieved fame at a young age and then retired! It's just that he came out of seclusion because this place needed him, as Master Wen has the world in his heart!"

Xie Xue introduced Wen Bo's identity to Meng Huai, thinking this would make Meng Huai respect Wen Bo more and not be so presumptuous.

However, Wen Bo felt goosebumps from Xie Xue's flattering words. He directly undermined Xie Xue and said to Meng Huai, "Don't listen to him. Those grand pronouncements are just him trying to sound important. The truth is, I was just extremely bored and came to take a look."

Meng Huai put on an understanding expression and said to Wen Bo, "Uncle, you're in luck. We're having a feast tonight, you must come!"

Wen Bo's eyes lit up at the mention of food. "What feast?"

Now that the star beasts were dealt with, everyone was chatting here. Xie Xue felt the two of them had plenty to talk about and went to arrange other matters.

The poisoned guards had recovered somewhat. Xie Xue had people take them to the medical bay for further treatment but still inquired, "Are they confirmed to have been poisoned by the jellyfish?"

Xie Xue felt that the condition of these people was different from those poisoned before. Today, both their complexions and mental states were much better!

At this moment, a guard explained to Xie Xue, "It was that student who gave them two bottles of black pills. After taking them, they felt much better."

"Pills? What pills?"

Xie Xue murmured, pondering, but still ordered some people to guard this sea area. "You constantly observe the situation and notify me immediately if anything happens!"

Since the most formidable jellyfish in this sea area had been captured, the lesser sea creatures dared not approach, resulting in a rare moment of quiet.

Meanwhile, Meng Huai was conversing with Wen Bo about the feast. Meng Huai said to Wen Bo, "Did you see that jellyfish just now? It was umbrella-shaped, forty to fifty meters across. If we stir-fry it, it should be enough for many of us to eat, right?"

"That thing was indeed massive. It's certainly enough for many people! But is having only one dish a bit too plain?"

Wen Bo clearly felt that a feast consisting only of stir-fried jellyfish was a bit of an exaggeration. Meng Huai, however, said, "Relying on the sea, are we worried about not having food? Aren't shrimp and fish all ingredients! It all depends on how you want to eat them! Uncle!"

Wen Bo actually started thinking about what he wanted to eat. "We definitely need some steamed shrimp and crab! And then simmer some fish soup!"

A soldier standing beside Wen Bo heard him and said, "It's probably best not to eat the star beasts from the sea, Master Wen. We don't know if they're safe."

Before Meng Huai could explain, Wen Bo directly pointed at Meng Huai and said, "Do you know who this little girl is?"

The soldier, hearing Wen Bo's question, scratched his head and awkwardly said, "No, isn't she a student from the Imperial Military Academy?"

The soldier thought that was all he knew, but Wen Bo waved his hand and continued to enlighten the soldier.

"She's not just a student at the Imperial Military Academy. Do you know about the antidote pills that were circulating a while ago?"

The soldier shook his head, looking bewildered. "I don't know about any antidote pills."

They hardly had time to watch the news or trending topics. With all the recent battles, they had even less time!

Knowing that there were still people who didn't know about the antidote pills, he spoke with great interest. "These antidote pills can neutralize star beast toxins, which means star beasts can be consumed. Moreover, an antidote serum has now been developed. Although it's more expensive, isn't the effect even better?"

He asked Meng Huai uncertainly about the last sentence. Meng Huai nodded and told them, "Indeed. Not only is it more targeted, but the dosage is also very economical. Just a drop is enough for an ordinary-sized star beast to be edible."

However, for giant star beasts, like the jellyfish, more would be needed.

"I see, that is indeed very convenient!"

Wen Bo nodded and continued to say to Meng Huai, "Then there's no better day than today! Let's have a pot right here! Why wait until evening? Enjoying the seaside scenery while eating delicious food, how relaxing!"

"Look at the movement on the sea now. No star beasts dare to approach. We finally have some leisure time, why not enjoy it?!"

Hearing Wen Bo's words, the soldier thought: Here he goes again, this mecha technician really doesn't follow the usual path!

But encountering Meng Huai and the others, he had truly met a fellow traveler!
