Chapter 93 I Want to Stay

Ye Yuzhe couldn't help but gasp. He finally understood what his so-called friends truly were!

These people had deliberately approached him to harm him and his elder sister!

Ye Yuzhe was now extremely grateful that it was dark and there was no light, so they couldn't see the expression on his face.

His gaze swept over them. There were five of them, and he was alone. He couldn't fight them head-on.

"Okay, I'll take you there," Ye Yuzhe said in a deep voice.

The group, giggling and carrying the fireworks, followed Ye Yuzhe.

Ye Yuzhe led them to the vicinity of the dormitories.

Seeing the rows of temporary shelters, Qin Shou immediately became wary. "Yuzhe, this doesn't look like the warehouse."

"Of course not," Ye Yuzhe suppressed the frantic beating of his heart, trying his best to remain calm. "This is where the migrant workers live. It's a shortcut to go through here. Be careful, everyone, don't wake anyone up!"

Hearing his considerate reminder, Qin Shou was immediately put at ease. He turned and berated the others, telling them to be quiet, which they did, becoming much more subdued.

As they approached the dormitories, Ye Yuzhe suddenly bolted! Following a route he had mentally rehearsed countless times, he ran directly to the alarm near the dormitories and pulled it!

The deafening sound instantly echoed across the construction site. Qin Shou and the others' faces changed as they immediately sensed something was wrong.

"Damn it! Ye Yuzhe, you dared to set a trap for us!" Qin Shou was furious. The group dropped the fireworks and chased after Ye Yuzhe!

Ye Yuzhe didn't slow his pace. He quickly ran to his dormitory and efficiently closed the door.

The people inside the dormitory had been woken up by the alarm, but they were all somewhat confused.

"Uncle Zhang, there's a thief!" Ye Yuzhe shouted loudly.

Old Zhang and the others immediately woke up. Without even time to put on their clothes, they jumped out of bed. "A thief? Where's the thief?"

Ye Yuzhe felt a surge of relief. This sudden feeling of safety almost brought him to tears.

"He's just outside the door..." he said, his voice catching.

The group opened the door and ran directly into Qin Shou and his companions who were giving chase.

Qin Shou and the others looked at the bare-chested burly men, their faces growing even more grim.

They turned to run, only to find a group of even sturdier security personnel who had appeared at some point and were now surrounding them.

"Beat them!"

Someone, it's unclear who, shouted, and fists the size of sandbags immediately landed on Qin Shou's face.

Before long, Yu Ji arrived. He had already called the police, and after the police arrived, they took the howling group away. xxs a

Yu Ji handled the aftermath and then went to Ye Yuzhe's dormitory. He informed Old Zhang and the others that because of their act of bravery, the company intended to give them a bonus, which made Old Zhang and the others extremely happy.

Afterward, Yu Ji took Ye Yuzhe to his office.

Seeing Ye Yuzhe somewhat flustered, Yu Ji poured him a glass of water and said with a smile, "Don't be nervous. I called you here because President Ye wants to see you."

"Pres... President Ye?" Ye Yuzhe was extremely surprised.

Yu Ji directly ignored his peculiar address and nodded. "President Ye will be here shortly."

Ye Yuzhe, like a child who had made a mistake, became even more nervous. Yet, as if remembering something, he gritted his teeth and waited in the office with a look of resignation.

Yu Ji found it somewhat amusing but said nothing further.

Soon, Ye Zhi arrived at the office, and Yu Ji tactfully left.

Ye Yuzhe stood up uneasily. Ye Zhi nodded at him. "Sit down."

"You did well this time," Ye Zhi continued calmly. "Director Yu told me that you led them to the dormitory area and used your numerical advantage to capture them all in one go. Your performance was very brave and also very intelligent..."

Listening to Ye Zhi's praise, Ye Yuzhe felt as if he were sitting on pins and needles.

"Sister," he said abruptly, standing up, "I led them here. Punish me!"

Seeing his determined, almost suicidal demeanor, Ye Zhi couldn't help but chuckle softly.

She reached out and patted Ye Yuzhe on the shoulder, saying with some relief, "Good, you've truly grown up. You know how to take responsibility for your mistakes, you're responsible and dependable. It seems your time at the construction site wasn't in vain."

"Sister, please stop praising me..." Ye Yuzhe was filled with regret and said with lingering fear, "I really can't imagine what would have happened if something had gone wrong today..."

"Nothing would have happened," Ye Zhi smiled faintly. "Those people were discovered the moment they slipped in."

"Ah?!" Ye Yuzhe's eyes widened in surprise. He suddenly remembered the security personnel who had appeared so abruptly. They had arrived so promptly, had they actually been following them all along?

So, even if he had failed, there wouldn't have been any serious consequences? Ye Yuzhe finally relaxed. He sat back down in the chair and stared blankly at Ye Zhi.

Now, he admired his elder sister with all his heart.

"Actually, today I mostly wanted to see your choice," Ye Zhi smiled faintly. "Ye Yuzhe, this bet is void. You can go home now."

Ye Yuzhe looked at her in astonishment. "Really?"

"Yes," Ye Zhi nodded. "Let's go, I'll take you back."

Her purpose in bringing Ye Yuzhe to the construction site was for him to mature. Now that her goal had been achieved, letting him return early would also put their parents at ease. Ye Zhi believed that after this lesson, Ye Yuzhe would no longer be easily deceived.

Ye Yuzhe got up in a daze and followed Ye Zhi. However, when he reached the door, he suddenly stopped.

"Sister, I've made up my mind. I want to stay. I want to continue the bet and stay for the full month," Ye Yuzhe said firmly.

Ye Zhi turned back, somewhat surprised. "Why?"

"Because there are some things I haven't figured out yet..." Ye Yuzhe said with some distress. "I want to stay here, I want to sort things out!"

Ye Zhi was truly surprised. She was already very happy that Ye Yuzhe had matured, but she hadn't expected him to have learned to think as well.

"Okay," Ye Zhi smiled faintly. "Then stay. The bet continues."

Ye Yuzhe breathed a sigh of relief and said gratefully, "Thank you, Sister! Sister, why are you still awake so late?"

"I'm home. Little Orange gave birth tonight, and I was with her during the delivery," Ye Zhi said with a gentle smile.

"Really? Really?" Ye Yuzhe asked excitedly. "How many did Little Orange have? What colors are they? Oh, Sister, can you take me home? I want to see Little Orange!"

"No!" Ye Zhi said with a smile. "Ye Yuzhe, don't forget, you're still in the bet period. You can't leave the construction site within a month."

Ye Yuzhe's expression became conflicted. He couldn't help but whine, "Sister, please be lenient..."
