Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Have a Taste
The restaurant is located in the bustling area of the new district.
The new district is not as crowded and dilapidated as the old one, with high-rise buildings everywhere, and even the trees lining the roads are lush and green, their leaves creating a canopy in the winter.
The restaurant is on the top floor of a high-rise building.
The car stopped at the entrance, Gu Shiting got out first and then opened the door for Sheng Tang. The driver drove the car to the basement, and the two of them took the elevator.
There were people in the elevator.
Sheng Tang was afraid Gu Shiting might be uncomfortable, so she pushed him into the corner and stood in front of him, creating a distance between him and the crowd.
Gu Shiting felt fine because his gaze and attention were all focused on Sheng Tang.
Her hair was thick, black, and had a faint sheen, like a piece of fine ink silk.
At the restaurant, Gu Shiting mentioned their reservation, and the waiter, with a courteous attitude, led them inside.
The restaurant was quite large, and there was a slight gap between each seat, although the tables were not big.
This setup somewhat resembled a western restaurant, yet the cuisine was authentically local.
The restaurant was newly opened with high pricing. There were many wealthy people in S City, and quite a number wanted to try something new. Even at midday, there were seven or eight occupied tables.
Next to their table, there was a couple.
"The environment is really nice," Sheng Tang said to Gu Shiting.
Gu Shiting nodded, "Song Chen mentioned that the crab meat roe fried rice here is a must-try, my sister also said it’s delicious."
Sheng Tang: "Have they tried it before?"
"Probably," Gu Shiting wasn’t very sure, nor was he interested.
Sheng Tang: "..."
The waiter presented the menu, Gu Shiting handed it to Sheng Tang, he didn’t care much.
Sheng Tang ordered a few dishes and handed the menu back to the waiter.
The food arrived quite quickly, among them the red braised abalone was particularly delicious. There were four pieces in total, Sheng Tang ate one and gave the remaining three to Gu Shiting, "This is tasty."
Gu Shiting didn’t eat.
He called the waiter over and ordered another serving of the dish.
From the nearby table, the voices of the couple grew louder, seeming like they were about to argue.
Gu Shiting glanced in their direction, his brows furrowing slightly.
Sheng Tang held his hand gently and smiled, "It’s a public place, they’re entitled to argue, don’t be angry!"
Gu Shiting, like an agitated cat, was instantly soothed.
He held Sheng Tang’s hand in return and scooped a spoonful of the fish roe fried rice that his sister and Song Chen strongly recommended, "Try a bite."
Following his hand, Sheng Tang ate a mouthful.
The crab meat was tender, the fish roe was springy, and the rice was crystal clear and hearty, delivering the greatest comfort to the taste buds.
Sheng Tang nodded, "It’s indeed delicious, Song Chen and Sister Feifei have good taste."
"Next time we’ll have the cook at home make it, he does it even better than here," Gu Shiting said.
He wasn’t bragging at all.
The chef at his home earned a monthly salary higher than the head chef here and was exceptionally skilled. Any ordinary ingredient met with his hands would turn incredibly delicious.
Sheng Tang loved visiting the Gu Family, largely for the good food there.
No sooner had he finished speaking, the man at the nearby table gave him a glance, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes, as if saying, "Young man bragging to impress a girl, your family’s chef is better? What’s your background?"
Sheng Tang, however, joyfully laughed, "That’s wonderful."
The man thought indifferently, young girls are so easily pleased, and withdrew his eavesdropping ear.
Turning his gaze, he realized the woman across from him, Zheng Weiwei, was frowning at him.
The woman named Zheng Weiwei, twenty-seven years old, graduated from the scriptwriting class at Beijing’s most renowned Drama Academy. She had a distinguished father, and right after stepping out of school, her scripts were being scrambled for by top directors and major companies.
The reason being nothing else but the benefits of getting on Miss Zheng’s good side, making their films easier to pass censorship in the future.
However, Miss Zheng was quite capable.
