Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Seeking Sympathy
Bai Shaolin’s mother was slightly taken aback: "What kind of background could she possibly have?"
"She’s Mrs. Gu from the Huishi Gu Family, and she’s asked me on several occasions to look out for her," the class teacher replied.
By saying this, she erased her own shame and elevated herself as if it were Mrs. Gu begging her for favors.
Bai Shaolin’s mother was stunned.
This Mrs. Bai was known for being the most opportunistic, always stepping on the weak and currying favor with the strong. Upon hearing that Sheng Tang had the Gu Family as backing, she instantly understood why Sheng Tang was so popular at school.
If a lawsuit were to ensue, it wouldn’t just be against Sheng Tang but the entire Gu Family.
Bai Shaolin didn’t stand a chance.
She was terrified, not of Sheng Tang, but of the powerful backing behind her.
Early in the morning, Mrs. Bai brought Bai Shaolin and some gifts to the class teacher, asking the teacher to mediate the issue.
The class teacher received the generous gifts and, wanting to return the favor, agreed.
She called Sheng Tang to the door.
"Disputes among classmates are natural; these minor issues shouldn’t lead to lawsuits. You’re both very busy, and studying is most important. So, I’ll make the decision—Bai Shaolin will apologize to you, and you’ll delete the recording. Deal?" the class teacher asked.
Sheng Tang replied, "Sure!"
Her prompt agreement surprised both the class teacher and Bai Shaolin.
With a smile, Sheng Tang looked at them with a hint of cunning in her eyes: "I want her to apologize to me in front of the whole class, not privately."
Bai Shaolin’s face turned pale.
The class teacher also felt that Sheng Tang was pushing her limits.
"Because when she insulted me, it was in front of the whole class," Sheng Tang said. "If she doesn’t apologize publicly, I’ll call my lawyer tomorrow."
Bai Shaolin quickly glanced at the class teacher.
Her mother had repeatedly told her to follow the class teacher’s arrangements.
The class teacher looked at Bai Shaolin and hesitated: "Bai Shaolin, what do you say?"
"I don’t agree!"
"Then forget it," Sheng Tang said. "Teacher, this isn’t my problem."
With that, she returned to the classroom.
The class teacher, a bit angry, took Bai Shaolin back to the office where Mrs. Bai was still waiting.
After hearing Sheng Tang’s demand, Mrs. Bai didn’t think it was a big deal. She said to her daughter, "You’re so beautiful, have good grades, and come from a good family. Saying a few soft words in public will only make others sympathize with you more and think Sheng Tang is spiteful. It’s nothing to worry about."
Bai Shaolin stamped her foot: "What about my dignity?"
"Gaining sympathy is also a way of gaining face," the class teacher reminded from the side.
After much persuasion from the class teacher and Mrs. Bai, Bai Shaolin finally agreed.
The class teacher took Bai Shaolin back to the classroom.
The morning reading session was nearly over, and the students were not in the mood for studying. Some were talking while others were napping on their desks.
The class teacher knocked on the lectern and said a few words to the students.
"I believe everyone knows about what happened yesterday. As for who was spreading false rumors, the school has already reported it to the police, and the police will investigate.
Bai Shaolin was misled by rumors and said some things that were harmful to Sheng Tang. She has the courage to admit her mistakes and wants to apologize to Sheng Tang in front of the class. Let’s give Bai Shaolin a round of applause," the class teacher said.
Her words were smooth and convincing.
However, the students, no longer naive children, were not easily swayed by the class teacher’s narrative.
They all knew that Sheng Tang had recorded what happened yesterday and threatened to sue Bai Shaolin.
Bai Shaolin was there today to put the matter to rest.
Given her misdeeds, why should they applaud her?
Bai Shaolin’s few close friends clapped desperately, but the others were indifferent.
