Chapter 180: Pledges of Eternal Love

Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Pledges of Eternal Love

Gu Shiting felt that there was a seventy percent chance Sheng Tang wouldn’t go with her.

If he stayed in the country, with his grades, it wouldn’t be a problem for him to get into the best university.

But a few days ago, his grandfather talked to him about his studies again, still wanting him to go to Switzerland for his education.

Experiencing different cultures would only benefit him in the future; Huishi Group is a global enterprise, he couldn’t always confine himself to the same place.

The elder he respected the most was not his grandfather, but his maternal grandfather.

He seriously considered his maternal grandfather’s words.

In the past, he was completely unprepared, even seeing no future, and he had thought of enduring for a few more years before simply committing suicide to end it all.

Now, he felt that anywhere would be the same, as long as Sheng Tang was by his side.

He even thought about getting into S University.

S University is in the same city, and he wouldn’t be far from Sheng Tang next year.

Of course, it would be best if Sheng Tang could go to Switzerland with him.

He didn’t want to force her, though.

He opened the note Sheng Tang gave him.

Mentally prepared, no result would make him particularly sad.

But he saw that Sheng Tang had written him a poem.

"The water reaches knee-deep,

Submerges the belly,

Inches up to the throat;

The two eyes floating on the river surface,

Look towards a green stone path;

Two ears listen, as the dress brushes against the sow-thistle day after day;

Rising and falling hundreds of times within my swollen body;

The stone pillar is weathered and eroded,

Arms covered with oysters,

Hair entangled in the rapids like a nest of water snakes;

Holding tightly to the bridge pier,

I wait for you in the depths:

If the water comes,

I will wait for you in the water; if the fire comes,

I will wait for you in the ashes."

Gu Shiting studied science, and might not have much of a literary side, but he could always understand Sheng Tang’s poems.

This poem was about an unwavering commitment.

Having made a promise, I will wait for you forever, no matter what kind of suffering and hardships I endure.

You go abroad to study, I will wait for you here. In other words, I won’t go with you.

Gu Shiting didn’t feel disappointed.

He read the last few lines over and over: "If the water comes, I will wait for you in the water; if the fire comes, I will wait for you in the ashes."

This was Tangtang’s promise to him.

"I understand." He folded the paper carefully and kept it close to him, "You don’t need to wait for me, I won’t leave you."

Sheng Tang was eating.

She looked up at Gu Shiting: "You’re not planning to go to Switzerland either?"

"I want to get into S University, then go intern at the branch office in Switzerland for a year or so in a few years. What I learn in school is far less useful than the experience I gain on the job." Gu Shiting said.

Sheng Tang smiled: "What if your family doesn’t agree?"

Gu Shiting: "My family has never denied any of my decisions, they..."

They were afraid of him.

Because he struggled to adapt to this society, he was a fragile plant in a greenhouse, and they had to protect him carefully, fearing he’d be easily destroyed by the slightest wind and rain.

They would never force him to do anything he didn’t want to do.

"...I’m not a normal person, Tangtang." Gu Shiting said.

Sheng Tang walked over to him.

She had chopsticks in one hand, the other hand pinching his chin.

Gu Shiting was stunned.

Then, Sheng Tang stroked his face, pinched his nose, and finally tapped his forehead.

"You are the same, just flesh and blood, no three heads and six arms. And you dare to pretend you’re superhuman? Have some shame?" Sheng Tang asked.

Gu Shiting: "..."

Suddenly, he reached out and hugged her tightly. He was sitting on a chair, Sheng Tang was standing.

He was very strong, and with such a waist-tight hug, Sheng Tang lost her balance and fell onto him.
