Chapter 399: Chapter 399: Utmost Satisfaction
The servants quickly brought over the outerwear for Sheng Sidong’s family and fetched umbrellas.
Sheng Tang and her younger brother shared one umbrella and walked behind the old master, with Sheng Sidong and his wife bringing up the rear.
The house was left in a complete mess.
Once they stepped out of the villa and stood under the banyan tree at the gate, Sheng Sidong spoke up, "Sir, it’s already very late. We should head back now."
The old master looked somewhat tired, "I’ve moved to a house in the suburbs. I never invited anyone over; it was just the servants and me, very quiet and lonely. From now on, I plan to live there permanently and not return here. Why don’t you all come over and have dinner with me tonight? Consider it a housewarming."
Sheng Sidong and Fang Mengying were taken aback.
Then they thought about it; with the old master moving from the old house, visiting him during the holidays would be much less troublesome. They were quite pleased with the prospect.
"We’d be happy to," Fang Mengying said.
The car stopped at the gate.
The old master got into the car and said to Sheng Tang and her brother, "You two come over and sit with grandpa."
Sheng Tang agreed.
Sheng Zong sat in the front passenger seat while Sheng Tang sat beside the old master.
The old master, once inside the car, showed a hint of a smile. Intentionally hiding it, he put on a stern face and asked Sheng Tang, "Today’s trouble, was that your doing?"
Sheng Zong, in the front seat, became very nervous and immediately turned around, wanting to speak on behalf of his sister.
Sheng Tang laughed and replied, "No, I was just giving them a taste of their own medicine."
The old master chuckled, "Good, you certainly don’t let yourself be taken advantage of! When I was your age, I didn’t have such composure. How have you become so resilient?"
Sheng Tang gave a bitter smile.
Hadn’t she been through stormy seas?
The entertainment industry is no simpler than the business world. A single role can trigger immense financial stakes, immeasurable really.
And capital can devour people.
"You’re a natural-born fighter, Tangtang!" the old master marveled, "After you graduate, come intern at the company. I will personally instruct you!"
Sheng Tang was slightly stunned.
"Grandpa, I..."
She could guess that the old master knew her true background; she wasn’t a child of the Sheng Family, nor his granddaughter.
Yet he still intended for her to be his successor?
"You’re talented. I hope you can support the company in the future," the old master said. "In this family, you’re the only one I trust."
Sheng Tang’s actions today completely changed the old master’s opinion.
So what if she wasn’t biological? Her loyalty to the Sheng Family was indisputable.
What use is blood relation? Some biological children aren’t as loyal as adopted ones.
Many wealthy families end up with fathers and sons at odds, losing all familial bonds.
Sheng Tang’s capabilities were rare to find in the world. The old master didn’t want to miss out on such talent because of bloodlines.
She was truly formidable!
She was steady, yet her methods were ruthless; she was intelligent, but wouldn’t be recklessly kind.
In the future, with her in charge and Sheng Zong assisting her, she would never harm her own brother.
"Grandpa, everyone has their own aspirations," Sheng Tang said. "I want to be an actress."
The old master frowned, "Actresses are in a weak position, especially female actors, who have to follow the whims of capital. Do you understand?"
"I understand, but it’s my dream," Sheng Tang replied with a smile. "I don’t just want to be an actress; I want to build an entertainment empire, to take our films to the world."
She wanted to create an Eastern Hollywood.
In her past life, she had earned plenty of fame and money; this life, she aimed for greater ambitions.
"Then you need to teach Zong," the old master responded. "Don’t keep your skills hidden."
Sheng Tang laughed, "Zong doesn’t need me to teach him. He has you, grandpa. You have so much to teach him, much more than I ever could."
Flattery never fails.
The old master’s mood completely lifted.
