Chapter 377 Future Son-in-law’s Filial Piety

Chapter 377: Chapter 377 Future Son-in-law’s Filial Piety

Gu Shiting picked up a yam and asked Grandma what it was.

Grandma laughed heartily.

"You silly child, you are too amusing," Grandma chuckled. "This is a yam. Haven’t you ever had yams before?"

Gu Shiting had eaten them.

He had had yam and pork ribs soup and stir-fried yam and mushrooms, both very delicious. He just didn’t know yams looked like this initially.

He thought the exterior of a yam was smooth and white.

"Grandma will make it for you at noon," Grandma said, feeling a bit sympathetic, as she weighed two yams.

It felt gratifying to make the elderly smile, even if only unintentionally.

He and Grandma strolled around the supermarket for a while, buying groceries and some random items—because he hadn’t seen them before and found them interesting.

After finishing grocery shopping, Gu Shiting walked with Grandma for another 300 meters to buy fried dough sticks.

"The breakfast sellers have gone home for New Year. Only this one is still open; they must not be going home this year," Grandma said.

After buying the fried dough sticks, the breakfast seller chatted with her, saying he wouldn’t be setting up stall from tomorrow and would only resume after the seventh day of the lunar new year.

"Are you going to wait until then too?" Grandma asked.

The seller said yes.

"Why? Isn’t it a waste of money?" For the first time, Gu Shiting joined in the conversation with a stranger.

The seller smiled and asked Grandma, "Your grandson?"

"No, my granddaughter’s husband," Grandma replied, smiling.

Gu Shiting felt warm at heart, feeling even the chilly wind was comforting.

The seller took a look at Gu Shiting, thinking he was young and very handsome, and then joked that Grandma’s granddaughter must be very beautiful.

Finally, he explained to Gu Shiting, "It’s New Year, there’s no one around."

Not only were there no breakfast sellers, but there were no buyers for breakfast either.

They returned home, and the family members started waking up one after another.

At noon, Gu Shiting was again in the kitchen, learning to make home-cooked dishes from Grandma.

One of them was stir-fried yam.

"...It’s really delicious." At the dining table, Sheng Tang couldn’t get enough of the stir-fried yam.

Grandma said with a smile, "Ting wanted to buy it."

Gu Shiting seized the chance to show his loyalty to Sheng Tang, "I can make it, I’ll make it for you next time."

Sheng Tang agreed.

Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve.

After dinner, Gu Shiting told the Sheng Family, "I’ll make dinner for you all tomorrow on New Year’s Eve. I’ve been here for so many days, troubling Uncle and Aunt, and Grandma."

Everyone looked at him.

Young Master Gu had shown great enthusiasm for cooking. During his stay, he indeed spent every day with Grandma in the kitchen.

Despite being a prestigious young master, it wasn’t surprising for him to have some hobby, but it happened to be cooking.

The Sheng Family didn’t really know what to say.

Sheng Tang laughed beside him, "We’re in for a treat. Ting’s cooking is especially delicious. His culinary skills were personally taught by his family’s chef, who is a famous chef."

Since Gu Shiting moved into the house, everyone in the family called him Ting, and Sheng Tang followed suit.

"It’s too much trouble for you." Mother said, "Cooking is tiring, let us do it."

"Mom, take a rest this year and let Ting do it," Sheng Tang said. "Otherwise, he’ll feel bad eating and living here for free."

Sheng Tang was straightforward.

Mother chuckled, "But when you go to his house, you also eat and stay for free. What did you do?"

"I helped Ting," Sheng Tang said matter-of-factly.

Grandma said, "Let’s taste Ting’s cooking."

Since their granddaughter’s husband wanted to show them filial respect, they should give him this chance.

Later in the afternoon, Sheng Tang and Gu Shiting went to the nearby large supermarket to buy groceries together.

The supermarket was not crowded, and Gu Shiting was always very responsive.

When they returned, each of them carried several large bags, nearly pulling their arms off.
