Chapter 842 The Cropped Photograph

Ye Ziyu stepped on the accelerator, her mind filled only with the panicked faces of Xiao Ran and Xingxing. She couldn't hear or see Di Mingjue outside the car window.

Ignoring Di Mingjue’s attempts to stop her, Ye Ziyu drove off. As she pulled away, Di Mingjue turned to Shen Lin, demanding the car keys.

The two cars sped down the road, Di Mingjue continuously calling Ye Ziyu’s car ahead.

Seeing the car in front accelerating, he tossed his phone aside and slammed on the gas pedal.

The car surged forward, slowly closing in on Ye Ziyu’s vehicle.

“Ziyu, stop! You can’t possibly drive to find them in this state!”

As their cars drew near, Di Mingjue rolled down his window and shouted to Ye Ziyu.

Ye Ziyu looked back at Di Mingjue, but a car suddenly appeared at the bend ahead. Di Mingjue caught a glimpse of it.

“There’s a car ahead, turn the steering wheel to the left!” Ye Ziyu had no time to react. Seeing the car hurtling towards her, she closed her eyes, her hands gripping the steering wheel and twisting it wildly.

*Bang!*

Three cars collided!

Di Mingjue, ignoring the gash on his forehead, unbuckled his seatbelt and rushed to Ye Ziyu’s car like a whirlwind. He smashed the window with his elbow and then reached around to open the door.

“Don’t be afraid, I’m here!” Di Mingjue unbuckled her seatbelt, shielding her with his body against the shattering glass as he pulled Ye Ziyu out of the car.

When the other car collided with them, Di Mingjue had no choice but to join the impact to absorb some of the force, minimizing the collision’s effect on Ye Ziyu.

Fortunately, apart from the vehicles, no one was seriously injured.

Di Mingjue held Ye Ziyu, patting her back. “Don’t be afraid, I’m here, it’s okay, you’re safe now.”

Shen Lin caught up and, seeing the scene, his heart leaped into his throat. “Mr. Di, do we need to call an ambulance?”

“No,” Di Mingjue refused.

The driver of the other vehicle had already called the police. Without any injuries, an ambulance was unnecessary.

Di Mingjue picked up the dazed Ye Ziyu from the ground and carried her to Shen Lin’s car that had followed. He took off his jacket and draped it over her chest. “Rest here for a while, I’ll be just outside.”

The car accident needed to be handled, and Ye Ziyu could use this time to calm her anxious state.

After closing the car door, Shen Lin glanced at the distracted Ye Ziyu inside and pulled out his phone to call Di Mingjue. “Mr. Di, we’ve found it. This car took the young masters.”

Shen Lin hadn’t just arranged for people to check surveillance videos; he had also had someone review footage from every road section.

Di Mingjue zoomed in on the picture, looking at the man in the driver’s seat. He looked familiar. “Is this the only photo?”

“There’s another one, but it only captured the license plate at the back of the car. However, this car didn’t come out onto the main road; it turned onto a side road midway,” Shen Lin explained.

The main road had surveillance, but the side roads all led to surrounding villages. These remote areas had underdeveloped internet and even more unstable power, so no surveillance had been installed.

Di Mingjue glanced back at Ye Ziyu, closed his phone, and returned it to Shen Lin. “Don’t let her know about any updates yet. You should dispatch people to search the area around the intersection shown in the photo.”

“Alright.” Shen Lin left the accident scene.

When the police arrived, they determined the responsibilities. Di Mingjue handed all matters over to the insurance company, who would handle the follow-up.

After arranging everything, he drove Ye Ziyu back to the city center.

At Ye Ziyu’s request, they went to the Ye Corporation to meet Ye Shaoting. After all, Xingxing was also in danger, and as Xingxing’s current guardian, Ye Shaoting had the right to make any decisions.

Ye Shaoting looked at Ye Ziyu, who was clearly worried, and placed a cup of water in front of her.

“Thank you.” Ye Ziyu looked up, then reached out and took the cup.
