Chapter 1038 Delicious Noodles

“Why aren’t you speaking?” Di Mingjue jiggled his arm.

Ye Ziyu heard him and reached out to stroke Xingxing’s cheek. “Don’t be nervous.”

“I’m sorry.” Xingxing lowered his head, filled with guilt.

The better they treated him, the harder it was for him to accept.

Di Mingjue, worried his stern demeanor might frighten Xingxing, quickly changed his attitude. “Seeing that you know you’ve made a mistake and are willing to correct it, I forgive you. However, you can’t try to divorce us again in the future, or I won’t be so polite.”

He shook his fist in front of him.

“Don’t scare him!” Ye Ziyu, worried Xingxing might take his words to heart, took him from Di Mingjue’s embrace. “He’s just teasing you; he won’t hit you.”

Watching Ye Ziyu’s gentle care for Xingxing, Di Mingjue felt a little less worried. If he could divert her attention, she wouldn’t have time to dwell on the children. Everything seemed smooth and wonderful, yet he still had his reservations.

Was Ye Ziyu’s love for Xingxing a pure concern for him, or did she see him as their lost fourth child?

Seeing the intense affection they shared for each other, Di Mingjue didn’t know if it was a good thing or a bad thing for him.

“Xingxing, are you hungry?” Ye Ziyu suddenly asked. “The breakfast they brought up must be cold by now. How about I cook you a bowl of noodles? Xiaoran and the others love my noodles the most.”

Noodles? Xingxing personally preferred rice. Si Jiucheng was in the south, where rice was the staple food, and noodles were rarely eaten.

“You don’t like it?” Ye Ziyu’s tone immediately dropped.

Sensing her disappointment, Xingxing quickly shook his head. “No, I do. I’ll eat it.”

“I’ll go make it for you now.” Ye Ziyu put Xingxing down and hurried out.

Di Mingjue and Xingxing simultaneously turned to watch her receding back, both lost in their own thoughts.

A bowl of noodles was soon ready. Ye Ziyu smiled as she carried the bowl from the kitchen, looking at Xingxing, who was already seated at the dining table.

“It’s a bit hot,” she said, releasing the bowl and pinching her ear.

Two fried eggs lay on top of the noodles, adorned with a few small green vegetables. The edge of the bowl was wiped clean, so exquisite that Xingxing hesitated to pick up his chopsticks.

“Why aren’t you eating?” Ye Ziyu pulled out the chair opposite him and sat down.

Xingxing held his chopsticks, carefully stirring the noodles. He glanced at Ye Ziyu, then at Di Mingjue standing opposite, and cautiously picked up a noodle, bringing it to his mouth.

Delicious! The noodles bloomed on his tongue like fireworks.

“Don’t rush; eat slowly.” Ye Ziyu poured him a glass of water and placed it in front of him.

Xingxing wasn’t hungry; he wanted to prove his liking for Ye Ziyu through the speed of his eating.

The bowl of noodles was finished in no time, and even the soup was drained to the last drop. Xingxing felt his stomach swell, and a satisfied burp escaped his lips.

Ye Ziyu smiled and wiped his lips with a tissue. “Stand up and digest a bit, or you’ll feel uncomfortable later.”

Xingxing listened to everything she said. After standing up, his gaze followed Ye Ziyu.

Just then, Xiaoran, who had been playing outside, came in for a drink.

“Xingxing.” Xiaoran called out in surprise upon seeing Xingxing in the living room. “Are you feeling better?”

“Mmm,” Xingxing nodded.

Xiaoran’s sharp eyes noticed the bandage on his wrist. “You’re injured?”

Xingxing shyly hid his wrist behind his back.

“I saw it all,” Xiaoran went up and pulled out his hidden hand. “Does it hurt?”

Xingxing looked at him, stunned.

Why was he asking if it hurt, instead of the reason for the injury?

The people he had been guarding against were all sincere and friendly, and he was only realizing it now.

Thinking that he had selfishly tried to destroy their happy family, he felt like a bad person.
