The four of them, mother and children, had a happy and joyous meal, while Di Mingjue beside them wept tears of woe. His distended stomach held nothing but water, no food to be seen.
Patting his rumbling stomach, Jiang Ziyu leaned back contentedly against the chair.
Comfortable!
During this period, apart from the time she lived alone with Di Mingjue, she hadn't felt as satisfied and happy as she did today.
Jiang Ziyu turned to look at Di Mingjue’s red mouth, flushed from the spice. "Are you okay?"
His lips were swollen like two sausages suspended in mid-air. He parted his mouth slightly, drawing in air. "I, I'm fine."
This was the first time he felt so miserable, defeated by spicy food.
Jiang Ziyu laughed all the way from the restaurant to the hotel, watching Di Mingjue’s progressively swelling lips. Feeling a pang of guilt, she went to the front desk downstairs.
"Hi!"
Jiang Ziyu turned around.
Gu Xiuyu wiggled his fingers, pointing to the mobile phone in his hand. "The beach this afternoon, remember?"
"Yes, Mr. Gu." Jiang Ziyu recognized him immediately.
She hadn't expected him to be staying at the same hotel.
Gu Xiuyu sized her up from head to toe, his gaze landing on the hotel slippers on Jiang Ziyu's feet. Suddenly, he chuckled. "I said we'd meet again, and I didn't expect it to be so soon. For the sake of fate, could you tell me your name?"
"Jiang Ziyu."
"Hello, allow me to formally introduce myself, Gu Xiuyu. I'm very happy to become friends with you." Gu Xiuyu fiddled with his phone, the WeChat page already open as he spoke.
Before he could even raise his arm, Jiang Ziyu sensed what he was about to do. She offered a polite smile and turned to the staff at the counter. "Excuse me, is there a pharmacy nearby?"
"I know, I'll take you," Gu Xiuyu offered.
The intentions he harbored were practically overflowing, so evident that they could be felt without him saying a word.
Jiang Ziyu politely declined. "No trouble, I'll go with my husband later."
"You're married?" Gu Xiuyu looked astonished.
How could she be married?
Jiang Ziyu looked like a college student fresh out of school, not at all like a married woman.
"Yes, thank you for your kindness." Jiang Ziyu finished, took the address written down by the front desk staff, and turned towards the elevator.
The elevator doors closed, cutting off their gazes.
Jiang Ziyu sighed. She detested being hit on. It seemed she would have to wear their wedding rings when she went out next time to ward off unwanted attention.
Returning to the room empty-handed, Di Mingjue's pained groans could be heard from the bathroom.
The three children, holding tissues to their noses in exaggerated fashion, immediately rushed to hug Jiang Ziyu's legs upon seeing her.
"Mommy, you're finally back. Daddy's poop smells so bad!"
"Daddy's been in there for so long, will he faint?"
The children chattered incessantly, one after another, making Jiang Ziyu’s head spin.
Placing a finger to her lips, the clamor in front of her instantly vanished.
"You need to be quiet. Making noise will disturb Daddy, and it will also disturb the guests next door." Jiang Ziyu sternly educated her children.
As the saying goes, without rules, there can be no order. After stating her expectations, the children became much quieter.
Jiang Ziyu walked to the bathroom door and knocked. "Are you okay?"
"I might need medicine," Di Mingjue said painfully.
He had no tolerance for spice, and he was truly risking his life to accompany her and eat spicy food to make her happy.
Jiang Ziyu said with concern, "Hold on a little longer, I'll go buy you medicine now."
"Mmm~" Di Mingjue drew out his voice.
In less than ten minutes, Jiang Ziyu reappeared in the hotel lobby.
Gu Xiuyu was waiting. He happened to glance at the revolving door and saw Jiang Ziyu hurrying out of the hotel.
Was she really married?
Seeing her alone, Gu Xiuyu put down his magazine and got up to follow her.
