Chapter 523 Health Supplements

"Did she give you a hard time?"

After Shen Meixiu left, Di Mingjue became serious.

From the moment he entered the room, he felt that the atmosphere was wrong. She rarely spoke, but today she had taken the initiative to greet him. The suddenness of it all meant there was something fishy.

Di Mingjue checked Ye Ziyu's body, afraid that Shen Meixiu might have harmed her in his absence.

"She gave me expired medicine," Ye Ziyu supported Di Mingjue's arm and, before he could speak, immediately calmed him. "I heard her conversation with the servant; I didn't take it."

No wonder!

The door opened, and a servant holding medicine stood by the bed in a stalemate.

Di Mingjue never imagined that Shen Meixiu would dare to tamper with medication, especially considering the kindness she had displayed.

"Do you need to go to the hospital?" Di Mingjue asked.

Ye Ziyu glanced at him, patting her chest with confidence, "With my skills, do you think I need other doctors?"

It was just a common cold. Even without acupuncture, a good night's sleep would have made it eighty to ninety percent better.

Seeing that her body was indeed fine, Di Mingjue was no longer tense.

He went downstairs to cook something himself, brought it upstairs, and stayed by Ye Ziyu's side until she finished eating before leaving.

Di Mingjue's mid-return had disrupted Shen Meixiu's plan, and she dared not make any rash moves. Her scheme to harm Ye Ziyu was thus put on hold.

The afternoon passed peacefully with nothing out of the ordinary.

At night, everyone gathered around the dining table.

Upon returning and learning that Ye Ziyu was ill, Ye Qianzhi was very concerned and specifically asked the kitchen staff to prepare some of her favorite dishes.

Looking at the large table full of food, Shen Meixiu was consumed by jealousy.

After many years of marriage, and even bearing him four sons, Ye Qianzhi had never once cared about her favorite or disliked foods.

She picked up her chopsticks, gazing at the food with no appetite.

"Auntie," Di Mingjue presented a box.

His action drew everyone's attention.

Shen Meixiu put down her chopsticks, looking at Di Mingjue in disbelief. Her gaze fell on the box in his hand, and with trepidation, she asked, "Me?"

"Ziyu was sick today, thank you for taking care of her." Di Mingjue rose from his chair, holding the box as he walked towards her.

As the box was placed before her, Shen Meixiu, feeling guilty, showed no joy.

"Mom, open it and see," Ye Chenhan urged curiously.

Under everyone's gaze, Shen Meixiu untied the ribbon on the outside of the box.

Opening the lid revealed a plastic bottle.

"What is this?" Shen Meixiu picked up the box, and as she read the words on it, her hand went limp, and she dropped it.

The bottle slid to her feet, and Ye Shaoting bent down to pick it up.

Di Mingjue explained, "It's a health supplement. I saw that Auntie likes to nourish her spirit, so when I went to the hospital to get medicine for Ziyu this afternoon, I specifically bought this for Auntie."

Why would he buy her a health supplement?

Shen Meixiu looked at the bottle in Ye Shaoting's hand, her gaze wary, and she dared not reach for it.

"Auntie doesn't like it?" Di Mingjue feigned slight sadness.

Seeing Shen Meixiu standing motionless, Ye Qianzhi immediately said, "Meixiu."

"I like it, thank you." Shen Meixiu took the bottle from Ye Shaoting.

Shen Meixiu was distracted throughout the meal. After eating, she immediately took the bottle upstairs.

Back in her room, she hastily opened the bottle and poured out the pills.

It was indeed a health supplement, but she felt that Di Mingjue's sudden purchase of it for her had some ulterior motive.

She pushed aside the scattered pills and picked up the bottle, examining it closely. From the brand name to the ingredients, Shen Meixiu scanned the entire bottle. Her gaze landed on the numbers on the cap.

The date was wrong; it was expired!

She stood up from the bed excitedly, wanting to question him, but after taking two steps, she stopped, her mind catching up.

Expired medicine... Did she know?

Shen Meixiu paced nervously, racking her brain to recall the events of the day.
