Luo Qi’s whole body stiffened. He touched the sunglasses and mask on his face, both still firmly in place. Who was this person? How could they recognize him?
This person was definitely trying to trick him. He couldn't admit anything. Luo Qi started walking forward, completely ignoring the words behind him.
Mo Jue, who had been leaning against a wall with his arms crossed, ready to watch Luo Qi panic, was surprised when Luo Qi simply started walking away after hearing him.
His eyebrows shot up in anger. He reached out and grabbed Luo Qi's shoulder, shouting:
"Luo Qi! I'm calling you, didn't you hear me?"
Luo Qi turned around with a frown, seeing a face that was both familiar and unfamiliar.
"You are..."
Mo Jue snorted, "What, you don't even recognize people after a few years? Why are you running when I call you? Scared?"
Luo Qi thought hard, "Hmm, you are... who again?"
Mo Jue's face turned ashen. "What do you mean? Are you pretending not to know me?"
Luo Qi scratched his head. He genuinely found the person in front of him familiar yet strange. He and Mo Jue hadn't seen each other in two full years, only that one meeting.
Children changed daily. Luo Qi was also someone who didn't pay much attention to people or things he didn't like. It was no wonder he didn't remember him.
Mo Jue was furious, his face turning red. "You dare to really forget me? Luo Qi!"
For some reason, Mo Jue even felt a little wronged. The person he had resented for two years, the person he thought about day and night, wanting to regain his dignity, didn't even remember who he was.
It felt like punching into empty air.
Mo Jue took two deep breaths and suddenly shouted, "Everyone, quickly look who this is! Isn't this Luo Qi, the last one on the leaderboard?
Oh, quickly tell us how you managed it, how you made those spiders and bugs obey you?"
Actually, Mo Jue could probably guess the reason. It was definitely because he was of the Insect Race, and his father must have given him some powerful treasure to defeat the insects.
But others wouldn't know. Mo Jue grew up in the Mo Clan and knew best what intense competitiveness could bring.
As Mo Jue expected, the surrounding people were indeed attracted and began to gather around them.
Luo Qi cursed. Ye Mu had already told him not to come and watch the commotion, but he had snuck out behind their backs to see.
He thought he was fine dressed like this, but then he ran into this little brat, Mo Jue.
Mo Jue was still shouting loudly, spewing every word to frame Luo Qi's ranking as a bug, saying he either got in through the back door or cheated.
Luo Qi really wanted to walk over and knock some sense into him.
Putting aside the back door issue, weren't all these people still in the assessment period? What was the problem with a back door? Besides, the cabins were randomly selected, how could one cheat?
Even though the facts were completely different, many people who didn't understand were still attracted by Mo Jue's words.
The surrounding people walked towards Luo Qi with great interest, adopting the attitude of watching monkeys in a zoo.
Mo Jue smiled with satisfaction and continued, "Look, this person is wearing a mask and sunglasses, he must have something to hide. Who knows what method he used to pass the assessment?
So many of us couldn't climb the leaderboard, but he did it easily without doing anything. This is unfair!"
Luo Qi looked around. Many people were already starting to whisper.
Human nature was like this. If someone was much better than you, like He Yuan, the first on the leaderboard, others wouldn't even feel jealous.
But Luo Qi was much more unlikable. Not only was he last, but he also seemed to have done nothing. Tsk, Luo Qi himself found himself annoying.
"Yes, what this student said makes sense."
"Hey, quickly take off your sunglasses, are you really feeling guilty?"
"Yeah, why are you being so sneaky?"
After so many years, Luo Qi was still half a head shorter than Ye Mu. Here, he looked shorter than most of the classmates from all over the galaxy.
Surrounded like this, he looked like a lamb that had strayed into a wolf pack.
It seemed he had to use his last resort.
Luo Qi sighed, slowly raised his hand to his sunglasses, and lifted them slightly. With his other hand, he removed his mask.
Mo Jue sneered inwardly. If Luo Qi couldn't explain himself clearly today, even if he got away unscathed, there would surely be many people challenging him in the future.
As long as Luo Qi and Ye Mu were in trouble, he would be happy. He had to avenge his hardworking father.
Luo Qi slowly took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of round, watery eyes. A few tears had inexplicably welled up, making him look pitiful.
"But I don't know what happened either. I was startled when I was brought in."
Luo Qi pointed to the large screen in the distance. The footage of Luo Qi being transmitted into the consciousness world and taking a half-step back was being played.
The child standing in the crowd looked smaller and shorter than most of the people around him.
His face was round, his eyes were red, and he looked very wronged, completely not understanding why he was being accused by everyone when he hadn't done anything. He raised his hand and wiped his eyes, saying bravely, "It's okay. If everyone thinks I'm not worthy, then come and challenge me then."
"Although I don't know how to do anything and might just get beaten all the time, it's okay, I have very good healing medicine."
"Although I have no idea why everyone wants to beat me, it's okay. I believe everyone is my good classmate and will go easy on me."
"Although this leaderboard is not something I wanted to be on, it's okay. Since this is the case, I will take responsibility!"
Mo Jue was stunned. This wasn't the direction things were supposed to go.
Who, facing such a brave and innocent little cub, so cute and well-behaved, wouldn't their conscience ache!
Who could withstand this!
The older students, especially the female students, immediately felt maternal love, wishing they could go back and slap themselves for the sarcastic remarks they had just made.
Even those in the same grade began to condemn themselves, wondering if they had been too harsh. This classmate didn't seem like someone with ulterior motives as Mo Jue described.
Mo Jue gritted his teeth, "Are you shameless! You know what happened yourself, and you're still pretending to be pitiful here? Do you think I'll believe you?"
Luo Qi sneered inwardly, "You little scoundrel, I'll deal with you later."
"This classmate, although I stopped you two years ago when you were bullying classmates, you don't have to slander me like this."
