Chapter 10 My Brothers Are All Unreliable

Luoluo wanted to stop her, but Su Siqi had the people following him stop her. He carried the person out of the mansion.

Outside the main gate was a carriage.

Su Siqi knocked on the carriage wall, "The person is here."

The curtain was lifted from inside, revealing the face of a fair-faced boy of about seven years old, brimming with joy. On his palm-sized face, a pair of bright eyes held a hint of cunning.

"Quickly, bring her up so I can see her."

Su Siqi, holding the little person in his arms, prevented him from seeing and reached out his hand, "The goods."

What else could the third brat do but steal answers? And he was caught red-handed, forcing him into a deal with this kid Chen Xiucheng.

"Don't pull a long face, it's a mutually beneficial exchange." Chen Xiucheng threw a letter over.

If it weren't for Xiao Mo constantly wanting a sister, he wouldn't have set his sights on this little girl.

It's tough being a brother these days.

Su Siqi took the letter and then placed Su Yunmo onto the carriage. With this, he could save that third brat.

Su Yunmo didn't understand. What was wrong with the children in the General's mansion? Why did everyone try to kidnap her as soon as they saw her?

"Second Brother, are you selling Momo?" Su Yunmo pouted, her eyes welling up with tears, looking wronged.

Su Siqi folded the paper and tucked it into his sleeve, then took a box of pastries from a servant and stuffed it into her arms. "Second Brother has enough pocket money. We'll talk about it next time."

He turned to Chen Xiucheng, "Bring her back before dinner."

It wouldn't be good if Mother caught him too late. He had to play the part of a good brother in front of Mother.

"Got it, you're so naggy." Chen Xiucheng eagerly picked up Su Yunmo and held her, rubbing her face. "So cute, Xiao Mo will definitely like her."

So it was a resale?

The carriage curtain fell, and Chen Xiucheng carried Su Yunmo to a soft cushion. "Good child, don't be scared, I'm your brother's friend, I won't do anything to you."

Su Yunmo felt that even if he wanted to do something, he probably wouldn't have the ability. "What's your father's name?"

His father's identity would determine whether she beat him to death or crippled him.

Chen Xiucheng looked at her in surprise, thinking that the children of the General's mansion were indeed different, their questions were so unique.

"My father is Chen Guoxing. Little one, don't you want to know my name?"

Su Yunmo narrowed her eyes, withdrew her hand that was about to emerge from her sleeve, and said, "No."

Chen Guoxing, the Minister of Personnel, was deeply trusted by the Emperor, and more importantly, he was one of Ye Jingcheng's men.

Seeing her throw out two words and then lean back to rest her eyes without speaking, Chen Xiucheng raised an eyebrow slightly.

Siqi's sister is not simple.

The carriage went all the way to the Chen mansion. Su Siqi carried the little person down from the carriage and led her into the mansion to a courtyard.

The scenery in the courtyard was different from other places. It was exquisite yet a little messy, as if the owner wanted to decorate it lively but was afraid of ruining the original tranquility.

Under the courtyard wall, two people were talking, surrounded by several servants. They seemed to be discussing a difficult matter, both frowning.

Chen Xiucheng avoided them, pulled Su Yunmo, and sneaked into one of the rooms. As soon as they entered, a weak cough came from inside.

A boy lay on the bed, thin and weak, with sunken eyes and a pale face. He had to sit up with effort after a couple of coughs, and his breathing was also difficult.

"Xiao Mo, are you feeling any better today? Look what I brought for you!" Chen Xiucheng pushed Su Yunmo forward like presenting a treasure.

The boy on the bed froze for a moment when he saw Su Yunmo. A flicker of surprise flashed in his round eyes, and then, almost instinctively, he covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve.

"Brother, why did you bring such a small child here? Hurry and let her out, don't let her get close to me."

Chen Xiucheng walked to the bedside with concern and helped him pat his back to calm him. "It's okay, the doctor said your illness is not contagious."

Chen Mingmo hesitated for a moment, but his hand covering his mouth and nose did not drop. However, he soon couldn't breathe and coughed violently.

Su Yunmo observed his complexion and condition, guessing that it was most likely asthma.

"Don't get so agitated, it's really okay. The doctor Mother just found is said to be very skilled, and you'll get better soon. Haven't you always wanted a sister?"

Chen Xiucheng pointed at Su Yunmo, "This is Siqi's sister, Su Yunmo. She's very fun to play with. You can play with her all day today."

Su Yunmo felt a little helpless. Did they have to say such things in front of her?

She was young, not stupid.

Chen Mingmo finally lowered his hand, bit his lower lip, and looked at Su Yunmo carefully. After a moment, his ears turned slightly red. "She's so cute."

Chen Xiucheng immediately beckoned to Su Yunmo, "Little one, come closer."

Before Su Yunmo could move, Chen Mingmo retreated a few steps to the foot of the bed. "No, no, it's fine if she stands far away. I just want to look."

Su Yunmo sighed inwardly, walked over, and took out a pill from her sleeve.

She had treated asthma patients before and had a few pills left. It should help him for a while if he took them now.

Although it couldn't cure him immediately, it would at least make him feel better than he did now.

His father was his father, but such a young child shouldn't suffer like this.

"Little brother, here's some candy for you."

Chen Xiucheng laughed, "Where did you get this candy? It's all rolled into black balls. If you eat it, you'll get diarrhea!"

Chen Mingmo didn't care. He carefully took the pill and said with joy, "Can I touch you?"

Su Yunmo didn't speak, just moved closer.

She thought Chen Mingmo would pinch her face like others, but Chen Mingmo just extended a finger and gently touched the back of her hand. Then, a brilliant light bloomed in his eyes.

Even Su Yunmo felt a warmth from this joy and gentleness.

Chen Xiucheng crossed his arms, feeling a little jealous. "Xiao Mo, you're really going to eat it? Last time, your brother stayed up all night to make duck soup for you, and you only smelled it before telling someone to throw it away." xxs壹贰

Is he being too good to this little girl? It's better to be a girl these days.

"Momo gave it to me, I want to eat it." Chen Mingmo was very envious, envious of others having such a cute sister. If only she were part of his family.

"Wait!" An old man with a white beard came in from outside and immediately saw what Chen Mingmo was holding.

He strode over and snatched it, narrowly wiping his sweat. "Children are really messing around, eating medicine indiscriminately!"

A young noblewoman followed him in. Su Yunmo recognized them as the people who were talking by the wall earlier.

She tiptoed, raised her hand, snatched the medicine back from the old man's hand, and put it back into Chen Mingmo's hand. "This is candy. After eating it, you'll get better."

This old man must be the doctor they hired. He could recognize it as medicine but not its efficacy. He was most likely a mediocre person.

"Nonsense! I've been practicing medicine for decades, and I've never heard of eating candy to cure illness!" The old man puffed out his beard and glared, losing his temper at the noblewoman who had just entered.

"Didn't I tell you to keep a close eye on things? During treatment, it's most important to avoid eating random things, let alone unknown medicine."
