Tang Nannan changed her shoes and walked over to him, feeling a little surprised.
Although Hu Jiasheng had told her he could cook, this was the first time he had done so in the time they had known each other.
And he was the president of Greyd Electric.
She, a nobody who got yelled at incessantly at work, was actually going to eat food cooked by him.
"Is there something good happening today? Why are you cooking yourself?"
Hu Jiasheng, looking good, turned his head and raised an eyebrow.
"You never give me a chance to show off, so I can't cook. Didn't you say you went to work? Isn't that a good thing? We must celebrate."
Tang Nannan's郁闷 mood was largely relieved. She walked in, looked at the dishes he had stir-fried, and turned on the faucet to wash her hands.
"It smells so good. If I had known there would be such treatment at work, I would have gone to work earlier."
"So, are you complaining about me in a roundabout way?"
She smiled, "How could I? Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Hu. Then I'll go out and wait."
"Go ahead. I'll call you when it's ready."
She hadn't slept well for several consecutive days, and today she had run around all day with nervous energy. Leaning back on the sofa, Tang Nannan unconsciously felt sleepy.
She drifted off, unsure how long she had been asleep, when she felt her wrist being grasped. Opening her eyes, she saw Hu Jiasheng sitting on the coffee table in front of her, looking at her with a serious expression.
"Why are you so tired? Didn't you say you were going to be an assistant at a friend's company? Did they give you so much work on your first day?"
His hands might have just been washed, as they were wet and cool, feeling very comfortable against her warm wrist.
This was the first time he had proactively held Tang Nannan's hand. Tang Nannan's heart raced, and she instinctively didn't want to appear fragile in front of him, feeling useless.
She shook her head, "No, they didn't assign me much work. It's all menial tasks that don't require any skill. I don't know why, but I just feel sleepy."
Hu Jiasheng looked at her with a half-believing expression and lifted her hand.
"What's this? Scratched by a cat, or did you get into a fight with someone?"
His eyes were sharp; he had seen this.
Tang Nannan looked at her hand, seeing three slender scratches where the blood had already clotted.
"I accidentally got scratched by a cat. How could I possibly fight with someone?"
Hu Jiasheng frowned, "Were you playing with the stray cats outside?"
Tang Nannan found it difficult to admit that she had spent half the day running errands to administer medication to her boss's cat. She nodded.
"It looked cute, so I petted it. I didn't expect it to be so fierce."
"You don't even have this common sense? Stray cats have too many bacteria. You need to get a rabies shot."
Tang Nannan was a little surprised, "It's not that serious, is it? Such a small wound requires a rabies shot?"
"If you don't care about your life, then maybe not."
Hu Jiasheng said, taking out his phone and tapping rapidly, then handing her the search results.
"Look for yourself. If you don't get the shot, the consequences could be severe."
Tang Nannan felt like an idiot, and a sense of frustration spread through her again.
She wondered if the transportation costs would be reimbursed. On her first day of work, she had spent so much money and hadn't received a single compliment, and now she had to get a shot.
What if President Ma continued to treat her this way tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that? The salary she earned at Greyd Electric wouldn't even last her half a month.
But what could she do?
She would take it one step at a time.
Giving up at the slightest difficulty was really not her style.
"It's getting late. Let's eat when we get back. Come with me now."
Hu Jiasheng pulled her out without argument, not even having time to change her shoes.
Sitting in his comfortable leather seat, looking at his young and handsome face, and the firm, strong arms holding the steering wheel, Tang Nannan wished he would hug her.
Life was too bitter; she really wanted a romance to balance it out.
Mr. Hu, when will you finally look at me a little more?
After getting the shot and returning, the dishes had gone cold. Tang Nannan was about to reheat them when Hu Jiasheng stopped her.
"As I said, we are equals."
"When it comes to housework, if you have time, you do it. If I have time, I do it. It's not assigned to anyone, and it's not like you're supposed to do more just because you're a woman. Don't be so hard on yourself."
"Just stay put. It'll be ready soon."
While eating, seeing Tang Nannan looking tired, he uncharacteristically picked up a piece of food for her and then asked her about the company's name and what she had been asked to do today.
Tang Nannan told him the company name but not the details of her work.
Hu Jiasheng said, "You don't have much experience in the workplace, so you might not know that in the same position or between the same genders, there can be natural psychological expectations. So, it's normal to feel stressed; men feel this way too."
"Whether it's at this company or another, whether you're the client or the vendor, getting upset is unavoidable."
"Don't always compare yourself to your experiences in Greyd Electric's technical department; not many companies have such work environments. And you can't rely on your female advantage forever."
"So, the only thing you can do is adjust your mindset."
His words were very pertinent, and Tang Nannan sighed with relief, comforting herself.
Indeed, people pay employees to help solve problems, not to be pampered. Why should anyone yield to her?
"I understand, Mr. Hu. I will adjust my mindset as soon as possible."
With her mindset adjusted, Tang Nannan was personally driven to the company entrance by Hu Jiasheng the next day.
Hu Jiasheng looked at the scale and decoration of the company.
"It's not bad. If you have any problems or don't understand anything, you can message me anytime. You can also call; I'll reply when I see it."
"If nothing unexpected happens, I should be home before you. What do you want to eat?"
It felt as if her boyfriend had sent her to work. No, perhaps more like a husband.
After all, they were discussing what to eat every day.
Tang Nannan was in a great mood and ordered two dishes. Hu Jiasheng said it was fine.
"Then I'll be going. Good luck."
However, this send-off by Hu Jiasheng led to President Ma taking pictures and sending them to Mrs. Gao.
Her forbearance and perseverance not only failed to earn any sympathy but instead made the other party even more aggressive.
As soon as she entered the office, a pile of documents as tall as half a person was thrown at her.
"The department just installed a new system yesterday, and some of the data was not transferred. To avoid delaying its use, you must input it all before the end of the workday."
"It's all simple work that doesn't require any technical skill. You should be able to handle it, right?"
It was indeed simple work, but the sheer volume was overwhelming.
Inputting so much in one day, seeing the dense numbers, made Tang Nannan's head spin.
She couldn't say she couldn't do it, so she had no choice but to grit her teeth and agree.
She didn't leave her seat all morning. By lunchtime, she had only managed to input less than a tenth of the data.
Anxious, she didn't even go to lunch and didn't rest during the break. She worked non-stop until the afternoon, finally inputting one-third of the data.
One-third.
After working for a full ten hours, she had only completed one-third.
President Ma said it was needed tomorrow, so it seemed she wouldn't be sleeping tonight.
