Chapter 194: Aura

James turned to look at the young woman in front of him and spoke to her. "𐏀𐎤𐎽 (I am)."

This one didn't seem to react at first, but then began to approach him.

James decided to observe and not take any actions that could be misleading, so he just waited.

The woman seemed to be as curious about James as he was about her.

"𐎭𐎠𐎬𐎤." She said something to him while tilting her head.

"What is she saying?" Bella couldn't understand a single word. She was good at Latin, but Sumerian sounded completely alien to her.

"She is asking for a name," James responded. "I haven't really thought about having to name anyone today…"

"Maybe something about gold? She definitely likes that color." Bella pointed out. Given that the young woman was surrounded by a golden aura and wearing golden robes.

"I don't think it's about likes, but…you do have a point." James glanced at the golden goddess in front of him. "Aurum means gold in Latin, so what about…Aura?"

"Aura…" The young girl seemed to react. "𐎨𐎽 𐏂𐎧𐎠𐏂 𐎬𐏀 𐎭𐎠𐎬𐎤."

James nodded. "Yes, that is your name…and you are going to have to learn English somehow. My Sumerian is very basic to keep a conversation."

He wasn't sure if the young girl understood anything other than her name, but she suddenly smiled.

"Aura." She kept repeating the name.

"Looks like she likes it," Bella said.

The golden energy around Aura began to change.

James could tell that she was doing something, but could not guess what it was. "What are you…hold on, what is the word I'm looking

for?...𐎯𐎸𐎱𐎯𐎮𐎽𐎤 (Purpose)?" He was trying to find out what she was trying to do.

Aura did not answer with words, but by lunging at him, moving at a tremendous speed, just as fast as the witch he had fought the other day.

James had not anticipated any form of attack and was not ready for this. However, he felt no aggression or danger from the other party. If anything, it was the opposite.

Aura wrapped her arms around his neck, and her body began to shine like a beacon.

"Oi! What are you doing?!" Bella shouted at her, but didn't know what else to do, as using her magic on the newly born entity could have unwanted results. Not to mention that she was too close to James to shoot at her.

None of that mattered because just a moment later, Aura seemed to completely disappear in a flash of golden light, leaving them both very confused.

James, however, only needed a few seconds to understand what had happened. He could still feel her powerful magic, and it was now inside him, being fused with his own.

He glanced down at his hands and noticed that his skin had a golden luster to it.

"Okay…I didn't think it was going to work like this. It really goes beyond my expectations."

"James, are you okay?" Bella rushed to his side, now that the danger seemed to have disappeared.

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" James tried to reassure her.

"Because…she…she jumped at you and then vanished. What was that about?" Bella felt extremely confused. "Where is she?"

"She didn't go anywhere." James extended his arms. "Aura!"

The instant he called, golden energy surrounded his body, enveloping him in a shiny protective cocoon. Once the light dissipated a bit, it left behind a set of golden robes that seemed to have supplanted the ones James had been wearing before.

They were kind of similar to the ones the young girl was wearing when they first saw her, but had been changed slightly to fit James's body better.

The golden robes covered him from head to toe and were still emitting a divine luster, giving James an aura of nobility that could not be ignored.

"What the…" Bella looked baffled. "Those are the robes she was wearing…but where is the girl?"

"Bella, don't you see it?" James asked. "There was never an actual girl here. It was just a metaphysical manifestation created by the robes. They are the real artifact." He pointed at the golden clothes.

"The robes are the artifact you made?" Bella took a closer look. "What are they made of?...it doesn't look like fabric."

"They are made of a mixture of the Divine Leather I found at the tomb and a special magical alloy I created to combine it with the leather. The resulting material is something that even I don't really understand yet."

James had to admit that even he was a bit lost when it came to his last creation, because he used a material he didn't truly comprehend in the first place.

Others would have called his actions reckless or idiotic, but James was confident that he was doing the right thing. And no one could argue against these results.

"Okay, so you made some sentient robes, is that what they are?" Bella ran her fingers across the surface of the robes. "Feels cold…like metal."

"Maybe on the outside. I actually feel very warm," James commented.

Bella frowned at this. For some reason, she didn't like to hear that. Even if the robes weren't a real girl, it was still unpleasant to see them wrapped around James's body. "And what do these magical robes do? You almost died to create them, so I imagine they must have a powerful enchantment on them."

"Mmm…I'm afraid that is going to require some testing." James glanced at Bella. "It is good that you came here today."

"??..." Bella tilted her head.

"I can't use Nyxaris yet. She needs to rest for a few more weeks at least." James opened his arms. "Tell me, Bella…what is the deadliest curse you know?"

"The deadliest?" she asked.

A confident grin appeared on James's face. "I want you to hit me with the best you have."
