Chapter 1208: Guerilla tactics

Chapter 1208: Guerilla tactics

"Do you want to see why I chose the title of Flame Witch?" Haku was asking Rokuko this as she raised her hand and gathered a fireball in it.

Rokuko didn’t really seem to care, but for the sake of keeping Haku happy, she gave a nod.

When Haku saw this, there was a wide smile that appeared on her face before she flicked her hand out.

The fireball that she released didn’t seem that big or special, but anyone that could sense the aura coming from it would be able to tell that this fireball wasn’t simple.

Even the tree that she was throwing this fireball at could sense the danger that came from it as it began to shake. The problem was that the tree wasn’t able to do anything about it since it was firmly rooted to the ground.

The price of setting up a large net like it did was that it wasn’t able to move at all.

So even if it wanted to run from this fireball, the tree just wasn’t able to do anything as it was firmly stuck in place.

The only thing that the tree could do was reach its branches out to protect the trunk that represented its main body. But the moment that these branches came out, there were slashes that suddenly cut through them.

This was done by Agnus and the others in Haku’s party.

When the slashes came out, there wasn’t a single movement that was wasted as they cut right through the branches. At the same time, there were cocoons that were also dropped from those branches.

With the branches cleared out of the way, there was nothing that was protecting the tree from the fireball.

The only thing that the tree could do was take the fireball with its trunk.

Once the fireball hit the trunk of the tree, it immediately scattered apart into flames. This fireball didn’t remain together for a single second, almost as if it had been scattered apart from the impact of hitting the tree.

But this wasn’t the case.

It wasn’t that the fireball was weak enough that it was scattered with a single collision.

Rather, it was because Haku chose to allow the fireball to scatter like this when it hit the tree.

It was all because Haku was controlling the flames to wrap around the trunk of the tree, not leaving a single gap.

Once the trunk was surrounded, there really wasn’t a single place for it to escape even if it could have escaped.

It seemed like Haku wanted to force the tree into showing its final cards, which was exactly what the tree did in the end.

There were more branches that suddenly came out of the tree, all of which had cocoons that were hanging from them. It seemed that this tree had been able to keep these branches inside of itself, hiding them from view.

Only the moment that these branches came out, the same thing happened where there were slashes that cut through the flames. Or it was better to say that the flames moved out of the way for these slashes so that they could hit the tree without it noticing until it was too late.

There was no resistance that came from the tree at all.

It wasn’t that the tree was too weak, it was just that Agnus and the other members of Haku’s group were too strong.

She had chosen from her first followers because Rokuko came along. That meant that Haku had brought some of her strongest people with her.

Since they were the strongest people that followed Haku, they were also among the strongest people that were in the Laver Empire. And since they were among the strongest people of the Laver Empire, it meant that they were also among the strongest people on the continent.

That was just how powerful these members of Haku’s group were.

Of course there was no way that this tree would be able to resist it.

Once all of the branches had been pruned from the tree, there was no need for Haku to wait any longer.

She just simply waved her hand and the flames completely consumed the tree. When the flames consumed the tree, it wasn’t able to resist at all as it was turned to ashes by the power of these flames.

After the tree had been turned to ashes by the flames that Haku released, she turned back to look at Rokuko with a smug look on her face.

Rokuko just shook her head at first, but then she looked at Haku with a smile and clapped for her performance.

The look on Haku’s face became even more smug even though it was very clear that Rokuko was just doing this to make her happy.

Haku was just that much of a fool when it came to Rokuko.

After she finished enjoying the feeling of Rokuko cheering her, she said, "Let’s keep going."

She didn’t waste any time as she turned to Lin Fan and said, "Hurry up and find the next place to hit."

Lin Fan shook his head with a wry smile, but he pointed in a direction for her before saying, "It’s over there."

Haku just gave a simple nod before leading the way.

This was just the beginning of her rampage through these Mist Lands.

...

"How are the victims doing? Are they still alright?" Haku asked as she stood in front of the burning field.

This was the third burning field of bulb plants that she had attacked.

Other than this, there were two villages of mist people, three trees, and several other locations that were left in flames after she had passed through them.

Once Haku arrived in these locations, she didn’t waste any time in spreading her flames across these places. The flames burned those that were supposed to be burnt and ignored those that they weren’t supposed to burn.

Haku showed precise control when it came to her flames, which didn’t affect the power that she demonstrated with the flames as well.

When she used her flames, those that were on the receiving end didn’t last a single second before being consumed by her flames.

That was the power that Haku possessed.

As for the victims that she mentioned, they were all of the people that had been trapped in the various methods that the Mist Lord was using to gather faith.

The cocoons, the bulb plants, the mist people jails, and the other methods that trapped these people.

These were all shattered by Haku with her flames and she rescued those that were trapped.

Though as she was doing this, she wasn’t actually able to save the people that were inside of the illusion from them. So the only thing that she could do was send them into this special space that she created where nothing would happen to them.

Even if they wanted to cause trouble, they wouldn’t be able to as they were isolated inside of a separate space.

But to create this space wasn’t that simple since this was a space that living people could enter.

Normally, this wouldn’t be possible with spatial magic since there wasn’t a way to create a living environment with normal grade spatial magic. Any space that was created with spatial magic would lack the oxygen and warmth that was needed for living things to survive.

But Haku didn’t hesitate to use the magic artifact that she brought along to put these victims in.

This was clearly a very special spatial magic artifact that it was able to keep all of these people.

When Lin Fan asked about it, Haku just tossed him in without a single word to let him experience it for himself.

Once he was in the spatial magic artifact, Lin Fan couldn’t help being surprised by what he saw.

That was because the inside of the spatial magic artifact was like a completely separate world. It was as if there was some kind of space that had been ripped out and a small world had been created.

It was almost as if Haku carried a Minor World around with her.

This kind of spatial magic artifact was without a doubt something that would be considered a state treasure for the Laver Empire.

Though when Rokuko took an interest in it, it seemed like Haku wanted to give it to her to play with.

None of Haku’s subordinates stopped her when she did this.

Perhaps it wasn’t as rare as Lin Fan had thought it had been if she was willing to do this.

In the end, there wasn’t the chance to continue playing around like this.

After all, everyone suddenly knitted their brows as they felt the shift in the air.

Even if Lin Fan was using the Clear Water to push back the mist that was around them, they could all sense the change that occurred in the mist around them.

It was clear that the one that created this mist had been incited by what they had done and was getting ready to make a move.

After a moment, Haku said with a faint smile, "Finally, we were able to draw it from its lair."

Everything that she had done this entire time was to draw out the Mist Lord.

After all, it wasn’t safe to attack it while it was hiding inside of its lair like that.

Attacking the Mist Lord in a place that it had fortified was giving it the advantage.

That was why she had done all of this to draw out the Mist Lord.
