Feng Qishi said nothing, turned, and walked towards the desk.
Seeing Mu Anxiao’s silence, Zhao Xiang grew angry. “Why did you crush it?” he glared at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao, enduring the pain, stared at Zhao Xiang and said coldly, “You know yourself why.” She then closed her eyes, letting the blood seep and drip.
Zhao Xiang froze.
Immediately, Feng Qishi rushed to Mu Anxiao’s side with a medicine box. “Bear with it,” he said, squatting down and opening the box, taking out a pair of wooden tweezers.
Mu Anxiao was startled. “What are you doing?”
“Give me your hand,” Feng Qishi extended a hand.
Mu Anxiao paused, then looked at her injured hand. She complied, offering her hand to Feng Qishi. “Be careful, it hurts,” she said, exhaling.
Feng Qishi murmured, “I know.” As he spoke, he cupped the back of Mu Anxiao’s hand with his palm and began to carefully pick out the shattered fragments embedded in her skin.
Mu Anxiao turned her face away in pain, clenching her teeth.
Watching Mu Anxiao’s pained expression, Zhao Xiang let out a soft hmph, thinking, ‘Serves you right.’ Then he stood up.
‘Serves you right.’ Mu Anxiao heard Zhao Xiang’s inner thought through her pain. She immediately opened her eyes and looked up at him.
Zhao Xiang felt uneasy under Mu Anxiao’s sudden stare. ‘What are you looking at? Stare again and I’ll gouge your eyes out.’
‘Gouge my eyes out.’ Mu Anxiao was astonished. She could actually hear Zhao Xiang’s malicious thoughts. Her eyes widened in surprise.
Zhao Xiang turned his body away.
After staring at Zhao Xiang incredulously for a few seconds, Mu Anxiao looked down at the spilled medicine on the ground, wondering why she could hear his thoughts.
In an instant, Feng Qishi finished applying medicine and bandaging Mu Anxiao’s wound. Her pain had subsided. She then turned to Feng Qishi and said, “Thank you.”
Feng Qishi packed the medicine box while saying, “I hope you won’t get hurt anymore.” He then picked up the medicine box and stood up.
Just as Mu Anxiao was about to get up, her legs went numb, and she sat down on the ground.
Feng Qishi saw this and quickly asked, “Are you alright?”
Mu Anxiao stared straight ahead and waved her hand. “I’m fine. Don’t move me, my legs are numb.” She took a deep breath.
Zhao Xiang scoffed, ‘What a drama queen.’
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao endured the lingering numbness, then looked up at Zhao Xiang. “Are you done?”
Zhao Xiang blinked in confusion. “Are you crazy?”
“You’ve been cursing me in your mind, what do you mean by that?”
“You…” Zhao Xiang looked embarrassed, his gaze darting around, unable to settle. He glanced at Feng Qishi, then back at Mu Anxiao. “If you’re not crazy, I wouldn’t believe it.”
“I’m crazy, and you’re the one who’s crazy,” Mu Anxiao retorted, gasping as she endured the last wave of numbness.
Seeing Mu Anxiao like this, and thinking about her words, Zhao Xiang deliberately thought, ‘I hope you can’t stand up.’
“…” Mu Anxiao couldn’t be bothered with Zhao Xiang. She clenched her fist and, after the numbness completely subsided, she stood up.
Zhao Xiang breathed a sigh of relief seeing that Mu Anxiao ignored him.
Feng Qishi put away the medicine box and returned to Mu Anxiao’s side, asking, “Are you okay now?”
“I’m fine,” Mu Anxiao replied, then looked up at Zhao Xiang. “Do you have any more?”
“More what?” Zhao Xiang hadn’t grasped her meaning.
Mu Anxiao: “Antidote.”
“Anti…” Zhao Xiang was angry. “How dare you mention it? You crushed it all.”
Knowing Zhao Xiang would shift the blame, Mu Anxiao played along. “How dare you! You said it lost its efficacy once it hit the ground. I picked it up for your own good. Who knew,” she twisted her lips, “that thing was so fragile.”
“You…”
“What about me? I admitted it, what else do you want? Besides,” Mu Anxiao interrupted, her tone turning serious, “I guarantee you have more than one bottle, right?”
“I don’t.”
“You’re lying,” Mu Anxiao stated firmly.
Zhao Xiang looked helpless. “It’s my stuff, of course I know if I have any. You’re so sure,” he said, “what do you mean by that?”
“Whatever you think I mean, that’s what I mean. In any case, you must give her the antidote,” Mu Anxiao said earnestly, pointing to Amei.
“How dare you! If it weren’t for you, she…”
“The aphrodisiac was yours.”
“Mine? You demon! You have poisonous mist on your hands.”
“Poisonous mist?” Mu Anxiao repeated, looking down at the hand Feng Qishi had bandaged. “I’m injured, and you’re still trying to frame me? You’ve really gone too far.”
“I’m telling the truth.”
“The truth?” Mu Anxiao turned to Feng Qishi. “General Shen, he says I have poisonous mist on my hand. Did you see any?”
“No,” Feng Qishi said coldly.
Zhao Xiang’s expression stiffened. “Mo Yun, you don’t believe me.”
“I’m not saying I don’t believe you, I’m saying I genuinely didn’t see any,” Feng Qishi stated firmly.
Seeing Feng Qishi’s resolute stance, Zhao Xiang was rendered speechless.
Mu Anxiao looked at Zhao Xiang’s speechless expression and said coldly, “You’ve falsely accused me repeatedly, what’s your intention? Do you really want to put me to death?”
“You…”
“What about you? You’re quite ruthless, constantly framing me from beginning to end.” Mu Anxiao wanted to discuss some issues with Feng Qishi, so she deliberately provoked Zhao Xiang. “What do you mean? Even if you dislike me, you can’t harm me like this. This is too much.”
Zhao Xiang was completely taken aback by Mu Anxiao’s volubility. Looking at her, he was utterly speechless. He glanced at Amei again and said, “Mo Yun, I’ll go think of a solution. You take care of her for me.” He then cast a sideways glance at Mu Anxiao and left.
Mu Anxiao watched Zhao Xiang’s retreating back and deliberately said, “He fled in disarray.”
Hearing this, Zhao Xiang immediately stopped at the doorstep, then turned to Mu Anxiao and said, “You just wait.” With that, he flicked his sleeve and left the room.
Mu Anxiao stared at the door. After sensing Zhao Xiang’s demonic energy recede, she squatted down again and focused on the medicine spilled on the ground, blending with the carpet. “Shen Mo Yun, I didn’t realize you were actually helping me.”
“I said I believed you,” Feng Qishi said calmly, glancing at Mu Anxiao’s hand. “Is your hand alright?”
“It’s fine,” Mu Anxiao replied, observing the medicine. “It’s quite miraculous. That guy, to avoid leaving evidence for his enemies, deliberately optimized the poisonous mist. As soon as it comes into contact with his demonic energy, it disperses on its own. That’s quite a peculiar mechanism.”
“That’s precisely why the bottle exploded,” Feng Qishi stated calmly.
Mu Anxiao nodded. “Logically, the bottle shouldn’t have exploded. It is indeed miraculous.” As she spoke, she extended a finger and poked the spilled medicine on the carpet.
