"What exactly did you do to me?" the girl snarled, glaring up at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao’s goal was to push the girl to her limit, and it seemed the time was ripe. “I merely sealed your demonic energy.” She then glanced down at her wound, thinking it was time to end things.
"Mu Anxiao, what do you want to do?" Ouyang Ye saw the danger immediately. However, due to Mu Anxiao's previous refusal, he dared not act rashly. In his helplessness, he could only stand by.
Following that, Mu Anxiao called out, "Ouyang Ye."
Ouyang Ye couldn't understand Mu Anxiao's intentions, but hearing her call, he had to respond. Frowning, he replied, "What is it?"
"I want to ask you a question," Mu Anxiao said, turning her head slightly towards Ouyang Ye.
Mu Anxiao’s face had begun to pale due to significant blood loss. Seeing her, Ouyang Ye’s heart ached. "Mu Anxiao, you can't die," he said, reaching out.
Seeing this, Mu Anxiao quickly said, "That's not the answer I want."
"You..."
"I want to ask you a question," Mu Anxiao repeated with intent.
This time, Ouyang Ye chose to cooperate. "Go ahead," he said, lowering his hand, his heart racing for Mu Anxiao.
A faint smile touched Mu Anxiao's lips. She asked in a low voice, "If I die, will you avenge me?"
"What?" Ouyang Ye didn't react immediately.
Mu Anxiao's gaze was firm. "Will you avenge me?" she asked, her eyes wide, enduring the pain.
"You won't die, you..."
"Let's not talk about that for now. Just tell me, will you avenge me?" Mu Anxiao only wanted a response from Ouyang Ye; she didn't want to hear anything else.
Seeing Mu Anxiao's determined look, Ouyang Ye lost the courage to continue his 'nonsense.' He took a deep breath and nodded, "I will."
"You won't lie?" Mu Anxiao sought confirmation.
Ouyang Ye couldn't manage a smile. With a somber expression, he said, "I won't lie."
"Alright, I'll trust you one more time," Mu Anxiao said. Turning back to the girl, she took a step back with a composed expression.
Immediately, before the girl could fully react, the dagger left Mu Anxiao’s body. As blood gushed out, Mu Anxiao gave the girl a dry laugh. "Just wait to be buried with me." With that, she clutched her stomach and collapsed.
In Ouyang Ye's memory, Mu Anxiao was always a coward who prioritized her own survival in any situation. Yet, at this moment, she was sacrificing her life for a stranger. It was then that he realized he didn't understand her at all.
"Mu Anxiao, you're completely insane," he said, stepping forward and crouching beside her.
Lying in her own blood, Mu Anxiao looked at Ouyang Ye, who was now beside her, her eyes unfocused. She softly called out, "Kill her." Her body then trembled uncontrollably twice.
"Stop talking," Ouyang Ye roared, ignoring the now immobile girl beside them. He held his palm above Mu Anxiao's wound, healing her while saying, "I won't let you die, you..."
"I don't need you to save me," Mu Anxiao interrupted in a low voice, quickly raising her hand to grip Ouyang Ye's wrist.
Ouyang Ye stiffened. Just as he was about to speak, Jia's voice reached his ears, "I'll do it. Quickly let us out."
"Can you really?" Ouyang Ye asked with all his heart.
Jia responded with an 'mm.'
The situation was tense. Ouyang Ye had reached this point entirely due to Mu Anxiao. If Mu Anxiao perished, he would lose everything. Naturally, Jia's words touched him. "I won't let you die," he said, meeting Mu Anxiao's eyes.
Mu Anxiao couldn't hear anything. The moment Ouyang Ye uttered those words, she became anxious. "Don't worry about me, you promised me, you..."
"I won't let you die," Ouyang Ye interrupted, pointing a single hand towards the wooden door. A red light shot from his fingertips, heading straight for the wood shed.
A wave of drowsiness washed over Mu Anxiao. After Ouyang Ye's words, she closed her eyes, though her grip did not loosen.
Inside the wood shed.
Jia and Lou Yi looked at the red light surrounding the lock, their hearts growing tense.
A few minutes later, as the red light dissipated, Lou Yi quickly opened the wooden door. He led Jia past the stunned girl and they stood beside Ouyang Ye.
Ouyang Ye immediately looked up at Jia. "You can save her," he said, his wrist, held by Mu Anxiao, already feeling numb.
"I'll try," Jia said, crouching down. He focused on Ouyang Ye's hand that Mu Anxiao was holding. "Your grip isn't actually very tight." He then gently pulled Mu Anxiao's hand away.
Following this, Ouyang Ye withdrew his hand and sighed. "If I had just pulled my hand away, her hand would have fallen onto the wound, causing her more pain," he said, reaching out to brush the hair from Mu Anxiao's forehead.
"You really do care for her," Jia commented, placing his hand gently on Mu Anxiao's wound.
Lou Yi looked down at Jia's back and couldn't help but smile. "I didn't realize you could heal."
"Her injuries are severe. All I can do now is stop the bleeding and replenish her blood. As for anything else..." Jia looked up at Ouyang Ye, "I can't do anything else." He then began his work.
Ouyang Ye's eyes darkened, and he remained silent.
At that moment, the girl fixed her gaze on Jia, asking, "So, she won't die, right?"
Hearing this, Lou Yi shifted his attention to the girl's face. "..." He began to wonder if Ouyang Ye would make a move against her.
The girl felt awkward under Lou Yi's stare. "What are you looking at me for?"
"You have quite a lot of fate lines on your hands," Lou Yi said, making conversation.
The girl's eyes darted away. Just as she was about to speak, Ouyang Ye stood up and spoke first. "Without you, Mu Anxiao wouldn't have been injured at all," he said, looking down at the dagger in the girl's hand.
Lou Yi saw this and dared not speak.
"She forced me," the girl stated defiantly.
Ouyang Ye let out a soft snort. "Even if she forced you, you shouldn't have acted," he said, narrowing his eyes. He then muttered, "Move."
Upon hearing this, the girl's expression froze. Before she could react, her hand involuntarily raised the dagger and pointed it at her own heart. "What are you doing?" she cried, fear creeping in.
"It's all your fault for making her suffer so much. You," Ouyang Ye said coldly, his gaze sharp, "you cannot live." With that, the girl forcefully plunged the dagger into her own heart.
Lou Yi was… stunned into stillness.
"Go to hell," Ouyang Ye said icily.
The next second, after Ouyang Ye's pronouncement, the girl pulled out the dagger, her soul leaving her body, and she vanished.
Lou Yi was completely frozen after Ouyang Ye's actions.
