“Am I not alright here?” the young man asked with a smile.
Mu Anxiao looked at the young man’s smirking expression, took a deep breath, and said, “Fine, listen. Listen, and then you have to help.”
“Help?” the young man asked, puzzled.
“Yes, his rabbit was captured by a rabbit spirit, and you are a disciple of a cultivation sect,” Mu Anxiao said, moving behind the young man. “Go rescue his rabbit.”
The young man blinked, then said, “Since you want me to go out, I’ll go out.” Saying this, he stood up, walked around Mu Anxiao, and left the room on his own accord.
After hearing the door close, Mu Anxiao glanced at the green-clothed man who had stood up and said, “It’s your time to shine.”
“What do you mean?” the green-clothed man asked, confused.
“Are you an idiot?” Mu Anxiao suddenly asked.
The green-clothed man frowned.
“She means you should go save Hongyan. If you don’t, Hongyan might get brainwashed by that rabbit spirit,” Feng Qishi explained for Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao turned to look at Feng Qishi, who had voiced her thoughts, and nodded with satisfaction.
Feng Qishi glanced at Mu Anxiao without speaking.
The green-clothed man narrowed his eyes slightly and said, “I was worried that black-clothed rabbit spirit would come looking for Hongyan. It seems my worries have come to pass.”
“Also, I saw bloodstains on the counter downstairs just now, I’m worried,” Mu Anxiao took a deep breath, “that the waiter has met with trouble.”
“What about the proprietress?” Feng Qishi asked, recalling what the young man had said earlier.
Mu Anxiao lowered her gaze and said, “If I’m not mistaken, that man was a transformation of a rabbit spirit. Their goal is to lure us to that cultivation sect.”
“If it were really that simple, then these rabbit spirits would have very simple minds,” the green-clothed man said, staring blankly at a certain spot.
“If I hadn’t said anything,” Mu Anxiao tilted her head back, fixing her gaze on the green-clothed man, and gave a fake smile, “would you have figured it out?”
The green-clothed man came back to his senses, looked down, and exclaimed in shock, “Can you not look at me like that?”
“Answer,” Mu Anxiao continued to stare at the green-clothed man, uttering two words.
The green-clothed man looked up, then glanced at Mu Anxiao from time to time, and firmly said two words: “No.”
“No, and yet you’re still so arrogant,” Mu Anxiao said, standing on tiptoe and pushing the green-clothed man’s head forcefully.
The green-clothed man, who never expected Mu Anxiao to push him, stood there stunned and said, “Are we that familiar?”
“Not familiar,” Mu Anxiao said with self-awareness, then looked up at Feng Qishi and said, “Let’s go check the backyard.”
“Let’s go,” Feng Qishi replied.
Just as Mu Anxiao was about to step forward, there was a knock on the door. Mu Anxiao’s expression turned tense, and she took half a step back, saying, “It’s that man.”
The next moment, the young man’s voice came through: “It’s me, hurry and open the door.”
Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao looked at the two people staring at her with embarrassment and said, “I am very smart, but even smart people make mistakes sometimes.” With that, she turned and walked to the door, asking, “What are you here for?”
“I discovered something big,” the young man said, pressing his face against the door crack.
Mu Anxiao frowned, and without thinking, she reached out, unbolted the door, and opened it to face the young man outside, who was looking at her anxiously. “What did you discover? Just say it here.”
“I discovered that you are not right,” the young man said, pointing at Mu Anxiao’s face.
Mu Anxiao curled her lips. “This habit of yours of smearing others with mud is an illness that needs treatment.”
“I detect a demonic aura on you,” the young man said, leaning in to sniff Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao took half a step back and said, “You, a mortal, can detect a demonic aura? Who are you kidding? I think,” she narrowed her eyes, “you just can’t stand me, so you’re framing me everywhere.”
“There is a demonic aura,” the young man insisted, sniffing again.
Feng Qishi walked behind Mu Anxiao and looked at the young man pointing at Mu Anxiao and calling her a demon. “This is my buddy. If you say she’s a demon, you’re saying I’m a demon too.”
“You are an immortal, but she is indeed a demon,” the young man said, stepping over the threshold and stubbornly sticking to his words.
Mu Anxiao was speechless.
The green-clothed man also moved to Mu Anxiao’s side and smiled at the young man who was determined to expose Mu Anxiao. “You’re actually right. This guy, she is a demon.” Saying this, he turned and stepped back, standing beside the young man.
Mu Anxiao frowned and looked at the green-clothed man. “Are you sick?”
“You’re sick,” the young man said agitatedly.
Mu Anxiao, unable to defend herself, looked at the young man and the green-clothed man and took a few steps back.
Feng Qishi glanced at the green-clothed man and, remembering Hongyan being taken by the rabbit spirit, turned to Mu Anxiao and said, “It’s obvious you’re in cahoots with that rabbit spirit.”
Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao stared at Feng Qishi in disbelief for a few seconds and exclaimed, “Feng Qishi! Are you sick too?”
“See, see? Guilty conscience,” the young man said, suddenly agitated for no reason.
Mu Anxiao was speechless.
Then, the doorway was suddenly filled with people. Mu Anxiao glanced at the people outside and then at the expressions of certainty on the faces of the green-clothed man, the young man, and Feng Qishi. She clenched her fists and shouted, “If I don’t believe you’re sick, I’m lying.”
Seeing Mu Anxiao’s anger, Feng Qishi cautiously glanced at the young man and said, “If she’s not a demon, you’d better wait.”
“You already said so,” the young man said, looking at Feng Qishi.
Feng Qishi shrugged. “If you say so, I say so. If you say no, I say no. I’ll do as you say, just like,” he turned to look at the crowd gathered outside, “them.”
Hearing this, the young man turned halfway around to look at the crowd he had called out to witness, then turned back to look at Mu Anxiao opposite him and said, “I’m not sure, but there is indeed a demonic aura about her.”
“Then she’s a demon,” Feng Qishi chimed in.
“But…”
“But what?” Feng Qishi asked deliberately.
The young man’s mind was in a tangle because of Feng Qishi’s words. Uncertainty filled his eyes. He clenched his fists, his eyes darting around, then looked at Mu Anxiao and asked, “Why do you have a demonic aura?”
“I am a demon…”
“She admitted it,” the young man interrupted excitedly.
Mu Anxiao continued, “I am a demon, that’s what you said. I didn’t admit it.”
“You…”
“Is she really a demon or not?” an elder from outside asked, looking at the young man’s back with confusion.
The green-clothed man crossed his arms in front of him and said, “I don’t think that guy is like a demon.”
“Then is she or isn’t she?” the young man asked, trapped in a loop. He now wished for someone clearer-headed than himself to guide him out of it.
