Chapter 565 The Missing Waiter

A black-clothed rabbit spirit, disguised as a waiter, walked to the table and looked down at Hong Yan, grinning.

Hong Yan’s body trembled and she asked, "What do you want?"

"We haven't eaten rabbit meat in a long time," said the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise.

Because the rabbit spirit had concealed her demonic energy, Hong Yan couldn't detect any of her scent. She said, "My meat doesn't taste good, and as she said, I have toxins in my body. If you eat me, you'll die."

"I don't believe that," the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise said with an evil smile.

Hong Yan's entire body began to tremble, and she said, "I am a rabbit from the Cultivation sect. If you eat me, they will definitely come after you for retribution."

"So you are indeed a rabbit from the Cultivation sect," the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise stopped smiling.

Hong Yan’s expression stiffened, and she asked, "What do you mean by that?"

"I'm sorry for injuring you today," said the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise, reaching out and grabbing Hong Yan’s ear.

"You are her," Hong Yan exclaimed in shock.

"You are just like us, only you haven't transformed into human form," the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise felt and said.

"I've never been able to transform..."

"As long as you absorb human souls like we do, you can achieve human form," the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise interrupted.

Hong Yan blinked and asked, "You want me to be like you?"

"We are rabbits; if we don't do this, we can never achieve human form. Think carefully, this is an opportunity." After speaking, the rabbit spirit in the waiter's disguise turned into black smoke and left.

Hong Yan lay on the table, contemplating the rabbit spirit's words, her heart wavering.

In the adjacent room, Mu Anxiao walked to the bathtub and bent down, dipping her hands into the water to rinse them. She took them out and said, "It's completely cold now."

At the table, Feng Qishi smiled at the green-clothed man and said, "Junior Brother, you can go and bathe and change."

"No need, Senior Brother," the green-clothed man replied with a forced smile.

Feng Qishi took the green-clothed man's arm and said, "Don't be polite, go and wash."

Mu Anxiao emerged from behind the screen, looking at the green-clothed man's reluctant expression. She said, "You hurry up and wash. I'm leaving."

"Goodbye," Feng Qishi raised one hand.

Mu Anxiao nodded slightly, turned, and paused at the door. "Oh, right, I'll speak to Hong Yan on your behalf. Remember to pay."

"Why should I pay you?" the green-clothed man asked unhappily.

Mu Anxiao ignored him, opened the door, and walked out of the room.

The green-clothed man frowned and looked at Feng Qishi, saying, "Be careful, or I'll reveal your secret."

"As long as you dare, I'll go back and tell Master," Feng Qishi smiled. "That you like demons."

"You..."

"Alright, go wash. I'm sleepy," Feng Qishi said, releasing his grip and standing up.

"I'm not washing," the green-clothed man said, looking up at Feng Qishi.

Feng Qishi shrugged. "If you don't wash, you're wasting your money, not mine." He then turned and walked towards the bed.

The green-clothed man hesitated and said, "That's true. The water is very expensive now."

A few minutes later, the green-clothed man, risking catching a cold, entered the icy bath.

Feng Qishi covered his ears.

Following that, the green-clothed man's screams echoed from behind the screen.

In the adjacent room, Mu Anxiao placed Hong Yan on the bed and said, "You can sleep here tonight."

"No need," Hong Yan said politely.

"That fellow said he was too unobservant and spoke without thinking. He said that to apologize, you should sleep on the bed, and I'll sleep on the floor." Mu Anxiao pointed to the blanket on the floor.

"No need," Hong Yan said.

"It's fine, you sleep. I'll sleep too," Mu Anxiao said, draping the thin blanket over Hong Yan.

Hong Yan said shyly, "This is the first time I've slept on a bed."

"Is it? Then sleep well," Mu Anxiao said, looking down at her dirty clothes and muttering, "That's strange, did that fellow forget about sending the water? No, I have to go check."

"Where are you going?" Hong Yan asked urgently.

"I must wash up. You rest," Mu Anxiao said hurriedly and left the room.

Hong Yan lay on the bed, thinking about the rabbit spirit who had transformed into the waiter. She wondered, "Won't she do something to the waiter?" As she thought this, her heart tightened.

Soon, Mu Anxiao arrived at the counter. The proprietress saw Mu Anxiao and asked, "Oh, why are you still so dirty?"

"Where is the waiter?" Mu Anxiao asked.

The proprietress looked around and said, "Perhaps he went to boil water for you."

"Where is the place to boil water?" Mu Anxiao asked again.

The proprietress smiled and pointed to the small door leading to the backyard. "There, but you can't go."

Seeing the proprietress's demeanor, Mu Anxiao thought about the shop's rules and said, "Then please hurry him up. I want to wash and sleep."

"Alright," the proprietress nodded.

Mu Anxiao said finally, "Don't forget."

"I won't," the proprietress winked.

Mu Anxiao yawned, turned, and walked away.

Thus, Mu Anxiao waited all night, but the waiter never came. The next morning, news of the waiter's disappearance spread throughout the inn.

In the main hall, several bored guests were sitting at a table, discussing and speculating about the waiter's whereabouts.

"Could he have been captured by the rabbit spirit?" an old man guessed.

"I heard someone brought a rabbit into this inn yesterday. Perhaps it has something to do with that rabbit," a young man suggested.

"Whose rabbit was it?" the second old man asked.

"I don't know. I suspect that rabbit ate the waiter," the young man added.

"You people are really good at making up stories." Mu Anxiao, still wearing her dirty clothes from the previous day, walked down the stairs and approached the discussing guests.

"That rabbit belongs to you, doesn't it?" the young man said, looking upstairs and pointing at Mu Anxiao.

"My rabbit has no habit of eating people. Don't make baseless accusations," Mu Anxiao said, pointing at the young man and admitting.

"Then tell us, where did the waiter go?" the young man asked, wanting to provoke Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao looked at the young man's intentionally provoking expression and said, "If I knew, do you think I'd be like this?" She tugged at her stained clothes.

"Ugh, you're too dirty," a young lady said, looking at Mu Anxiao with disgust.

Mu Anxiao glanced at the young lady and said, "I waited for the waiter all night yesterday, and he never brought me water. I'm already annoyed. You'd better not splash dirty water on me." As she spoke, she looked at the man standing at the counter and asked, "Where is your proprietress?"

The man looked up at Mu Anxiao and said, "The proprietress has been standing here all night. She went to sleep."

"Where is the waiter?" Mu Anxiao asked.

The young man glanced at the man and said, "That guy said he doesn't know. Even if you ask him, he'll definitely just say he doesn't know."

Immediately after, the man, as the young man had predicted, said, "I don't know," and continued looking at the accounts.
