Chapter 1578 Omen (5)

Mu Anxiao appeared sullen, having seen something she shouldn't have, and her mood was immediately noticed by Piao.

“What’s wrong?” Piao asked, tilting his head up at Mu Anxiao, who had stopped by the table.

Mu Anxiao picked up a teacup, “Nothing.” She took a sip of water.

“Nothing,” Piao didn’t believe her but didn’t dare ask further. He looked towards Feng Qishi, who was gracefully walking towards them, and asked, “What’s wrong with her?”

“Her…”

“Why are you asking him?” Mu Anxiao said impatiently, setting down the teacup.

Hearing Mu Anxiao’s tone, Piao recalled her earlier words about Feng Qishi’s bad temper. He smiled faintly, guessing, “I know.”

Mu Anxiao frowned, “Know what?” She looked down at Piao.

Piao smiled, “He lost his temper with you.” He pointed at Feng Qishi.

Following Piao’s gaze, Mu Anxiao glanced sideways at Feng Qishi, who stood frozen in place, then looked behind and around him. She wondered, where was Zhao Meier?

Feng Qishi said, “She and I really have no connection.” As he spoke, he walked forward.

“Whether you have a connection with her or not has nothing to do with me,” Mu Anxiao said, glaring at Feng Qishi. She then unintentionally looked at the waiter who was smiling foolishly at her and said, “I know, we’re leaving.”

The waiter said, “I wasn’t trying to rush you, I was just…”

“I know, you’re just a handyman. If people stop coming here because of you, your boss will deal with you. Of course,” Mu Anxiao continued, “dealing with you is minor, making you pay is major, right?”

The waiter smiled and nodded, “You are indeed smart, customer.” He gave a thumbs-up.

Mu Anxiao sneered, “Stop flattering me.” She glanced at Feng Qishi, who had stopped behind her, then at the first man standing in place and the second man still lying on the ground. She said, “Shen Fengzi, their memories cannot remain.”

Feng Qishi’s eyes lit up at Mu Anxiao’s words, and he said excitedly, “What do you want me to do?”

Mu Anxiao thought for a moment and said, “If too much memory can’t be erased, just let them forget,” she then glanced at the waiter, “that they were here.”

The waiter smiled.

Feng Qishi nodded, “Alright, no problem.”

“Good, you do it,” Mu Anxiao said, turning to look at Lin Yan and the others who were ready to watch the drama unfold, and frowning, “What are you guys looking at?”

Piao raised an eyebrow, “What’s going on, disciple?”

“Who’s your disciple?” Mu Anxiao said disdainfully.

Piao replied, “It’s not good to hide things, you two.” He completely abandoned his earlier seriousness and looked at Feng Qishi, who had started to cast a spell, asking, “What’s happening?”

“Yeah,” Xie Xin took a sip of water, “what did you see?”

Lin Yan said, “How did my master offend you?”

The wolf demon asked, “You two, what’s going on? What did he mean by ‘no connection’? By the way, is ‘it’ a female or male?”

“Definitely female,” Xie Xin finished the wolf demon’s question.

Upon hearing this, the wolf demon put aside all his defenses against Xie Xin and shifted his gaze to Xie Xin’s face, “Are you sure she’s female?”

“Definitely. Otherwise,” Xie Xin inexplicably found herself on the same side as the wolf demon, pointing at Feng Qishi and Mu Anxiao, “she wouldn’t be angry, and he wouldn’t have to explain.”

“That makes sense.” The wolf demon was completely engrossed in the gossip.

Seeing the wolf demon cooperate, Xie Xin smiled, “Am I smart?” As she spoke, she began to reach out.

“Smart…” the wolf demon nodded. Seeing Xie Xin’s actions were not right, he intentionally stood up and took two steps back, remaining silent.

Seeing the wolf demon stand up, Xie Xin pouted unhappily and said, “How can you treat me like this?”

“…” The wolf demon cleared his throat, intending to turn and face Mu Anxiao, who was glaring at him. He was startled, “Why are you glaring at me?”

“You really talk nonsense.”

“I…”

“If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll give you two,” Mu Anxiao interrupted, pointing at the wolf demon and then at Xie Xin, “a chance to be together.”

The wolf demon froze.

Xie Xin, on the other hand, liked Mu Anxiao’s words and said with a smile, “That would be best.”

Mu Anxiao ignored Xie Xin and continued to glare at the wolf demon.

Xiao Zeng couldn’t understand what was happening and looked at Lin Yan in confusion, asking, “Brother, what does it mean?”

Lin Yan looked at Xiao Zeng, paused for a moment, and perfunctorily replied, “When you grow up, you’ll understand.”

“Can you tell me now?” Xiao Zeng was curious.

Lin Yan said, “No.”

Xiao Zeng didn’t dare to offend Lin Yan and pursed his lips tightly.

Mu Anxiao didn’t want to become their ‘gossip’ object. She looked at the confused and puzzled Xiao Zeng and said, “Xiao Zeng, don’t learn from them. If you do, you’ll only be disliked.”

“You dislike them?” Xiao Zeng followed Mu Anxiao’s lead.

Mu Anxiao nodded, “Yes, dislike.” She glared at them, then turned to the first man who was staring at her and asked, “Why are you looking at me?” She could sense the first man’s fear.

Feng Qishi stood beside the second man, casting a spell.

The first man responded with two muffled grunts.

Seeing the first man like this, Mu Anxiao chuckled, “You were quite arrogant just now, why are you chicken now?”

The first man’s eyes held a hint of a smile.

Mu Anxiao gave the first man no chance to speak, “Beg me, and I still won’t let you go. Of course,” she walked forward, locking eyes with the first man, “you can harm me too, but not now.”

“…” The first man’s eyes widened.

Mu Anxiao glared fiercely at the first man, then looked at Feng Qishi, who had stopped casting, “Done.”

Feng Qishi nodded.

“It’s his turn. Remember,” Mu Anxiao instructed, “make him suffer.” She said this deliberately.

“I know.” Feng Qishi complied, stepping past Mu Anxiao and standing before the first man.

Seeing Feng Qishi approach, the first man closed his eyes in fear.

Mu Anxiao sneered at the first man’s submissive expression, turned back to Piao and the others sitting at the table, and said, “What are you still sitting around for? Let’s go.” She then turned and walked ahead.

The waiter breathed a sigh of relief as they left.

Subsequently, Feng Qishi and Piao followed Mu Anxiao, escorting the first and second men to an alley far from the inn.

Mu Anxiao looked down at the first and second men, who were leaning against the ground, and said, “Isn’t this too obvious?” She put one hand on her hip and looked at Feng Qishi and Piao.

Piao and Feng Qishi exchanged glances, then both looked at Mu Anxiao. Piao said, “I don’t think it’s obvious at all.” He looked at the second man, whom he had carried over.

Feng Qishi also said, “I don’t think it’s obvious at all either, because,” he looked down at the first man he had brought over, continuing, “they smell strongly of alcohol.”

“Alcohol,” Mu Anxiao uttered the word, bent down to sniff, then quickly straightened up, fanning her face with her hand, “Indeed, there’s alcohol on them.”

“Since you’ve smelled it, let’s go. When they wake up, they’ll only think they got drunk and lay down on the roadside,” Feng Qishi said calmly.

Mu Anxiao found Feng Qishi’s words reasonable and nodded. She then deliberately walked to Piao’s side, saying, “Let’s go.” She deliberately ignored Feng Qishi and looked up at Piao.

Piao, thinking that Mu Anxiao was in a bad mood, said nothing more and left with her.

Feng Qishi stood frozen in place, his eyes darkening. He turned to look at the red and white light floating in the air and clenched his fist.

Zhao Meier, who had transformed into the red and white light, did not dare to reveal herself upon seeing this and left.

Feng Qishi glared at ‘Zhao Meier’ and quickly turned to follow Mu Anxiao.

Before long, Feng Qishi and the others rendezvoused with Lin Yan and the group hiding around the corner.

“Where are we going?” Lin Yan asked.

Xiao Zeng, recalling the experience of being chased out of the dilapidated temple by beggars with Xie Xin, said, “We can’t go back to the dilapidated temple. They’ll definitely chase us away.”

Xie Xin glanced at Xiao Zeng and agreed, “Yes, we can’t go back.”

“I know,” Mu Anxiao said faintly. She looked left and right, finally shifting her gaze back to Piao’s face, “Is anyone at your house right now?”

“My house?” Piao pointed at himself, considered the current situation, and gave a dry laugh, “This, I can’t say for sure.”

“What do you mean you can’t say for sure? That’s your home.”

“I haven’t been back much since going to the demon realm. Moreover, they know I’m with you, so they might already be waiting for us with people. I,” Piao said with difficulty, “can’t deal with those people in front of you, can I?”

“If you can’t, then just say so. Stop talking so much nonsense.”

Piao replied, “I just want to explain clearly, so you don’t misunderstand.”

“…” Mu Anxiao slanted a look at Piao and lowered her head, contemplating where they should go.

Initially, Mu Anxiao thought the waiter was a bold person who could solve all problems with a little money. However… the reality of the waiter was completely opposite to her imagination.

Thinking about it, she truly had no idea what to do.

Piao looked down at Mu Anxiao as she was thinking. Just as he was about to speak, Feng Qishi suddenly said, “Mu Shazi, why don’t we go look for Wan Sha? I think they might be at that milk tea shop opened by the vine spirit.”

Milk tea shop?

Mu Anxiao had thought of that before. But the problem was, it was opened by a vine spirit. It would be fine for Wan Sha to go, but if she went, and the vine spirit found out, wouldn’t she fall into the vine spirit’s trap?

“No,” she shook her head.

Feng Qishi frowned, “It’s the safest place right now. You…”

“Can you stop talking nonsense?” Mu Anxiao interrupted, her gaze sharp as she looked at Feng Qishi.

Feng Qishi was bewildered, “…” He didn’t know what nonsense he was talking.

Lin Yan, seeing Mu Anxiao’s attitude towards Feng Qishi, was also angry. “Mu Anxiao, my master is kindly giving you advice, and you’re acting like this. It’s not very good, is it?”

Hearing this, Mu Anxiao glared at Feng Qishi and looked at Lin Yan, “What do you know?” After speaking, she suddenly realized… she seemed a little off, but she couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong.

Feng Qishi knitted his brows.

Lin Yan, hearing Mu Anxiao’s words and considering his own abilities, fell silent.

“Let me think,” Mu Anxiao said again.

Subsequently, the wolf demon and the others exchanged glances and also fell silent.

Immediately after, a cry of “Help!” came from not far away.

Hearing the voice, Mu Anxiao was the first to stop thinking and turned her head towards the direction of the sound, mumbling, “Yuan Ye.”

Feng Qishi heard Mu Anxiao’s voice and asked, “Are you sure?”

“..” Mu Anxiao shook her head slightly as she looked at Feng Qishi and said, “It should be him.”

“That’s towards the city gate,” Feng Qishi said calmly.

There were many people at the city gate. Mu Anxiao thought that if she went there, she would definitely be exposed, and the result would be… she would continue to be driven away, and moreover, they would be implicated.

Furthermore, from Yuan Ye’s heart-wrenching cries for help, she could hear that Yuan Ye was very scared. If they didn’t go, and Yuan Ye died, it would be too late for anything.

Following this, she hesitated with various thoughts and said to Lin Yan, Xie Xin, and the wolf demon, “Don’t follow me.” As she spoke, she didn’t forget to glance at Xiao Zeng.

The wolf demon frowned, “What are you going to do?”

“What else can I do? I’m going to take a look. If you follow me, you’ll definitely be implicated,” Mu Anxiao said, glancing at Feng Qishi and Piao, “You two take them.”

“You don’t want me to follow you?” Feng Qishi asked, surprised.

Mu Anxiao’s eyes flickered, “Following me will only be dangerous. Besides, I’m the jinx, not you.”

“They know I’m your accomplice,” Feng Qishi said, agitated.

“So what?” Mu Anxiao stared intently at Feng Qishi’s face, “If I can make you not follow me, I can naturally find a way to distance you from me.”

“Mu Shazi, you’re crazy,” Feng Qishi said in a low growl.

Mu Anxiao growled back, “I’m not crazy. Shen Fengzi, I’m your boss, you have to listen to me.” Her gaze was firm.

Feng Qishi replied, “You want to abandon me again, Mu Shazi, I really…”

“I want to abandon you. Following me will only lead to trouble and chaos. After this,” Mu Anxiao said, “we won’t have any contact anymore.”

“Mu Shazi, you’ve taken the wrong medicine.”

However, Mu Anxiao didn’t know what was wrong with her either. But for some reason, whenever she spoke to Feng Qishi, various scenes of him and Zhao Meier together would flash through her mind.

In short, whenever Mu Anxiao thought of these scenes, she felt unhappy, and when she felt unhappy, she couldn’t control her emotions.

“It’s none of your business,” she said coldly, lowering her head, losing the courage to meet Feng Qishi’s gaze.

Feng Qishi looked down at Mu Anxiao’s strange demeanor, his eyes darkening. He then looked at them and said with resolve, “Mu Shazi, she was the one who hugged me, and I didn’t want you to catch her because…” He stopped halfway, then suddenly bent down and whispered into Mu Anxiao’s ear, “I feel like she’s a ghost.”

Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao’s eyes widened. She grabbed Feng Qishi’s arm and whispered, “You have no connection?”

Feng Qishi heard Mu Anxiao’s words and said firmly, “No.” He glanced at Mu Anxiao’s profile, “What? You’re not jealous, are you?”

“I’m not jealous, I just don’t want you to delay the mission with this sort of thing,” Mu Anxiao said, letting go of his hand and pushing Feng Qishi away.
