Mu Anxiao looked at Piao’s smiling face and also felt relieved.
Yan also breathed a sigh of relief successively.
The red-clothed rabbit spirit looked at Piao’s gentle smile in astonishment. Looking at Mu Anxiao’s silly appearance, she thought: It seems the great demon treats this Mu Anxiao very well. With that thought, she swallowed a couple of times.
Beside her, Piao reached out and brushed away a stray strand of hair from Mu Anxiao’s forehead and asked, "Where did you go just now?"
"I went to see the Rabbit Queen," Mu Anxiao replied.
"What did you go there for?" Piao asked.
Mu Anxiao’s mouth twisted, and she said, "I thought you were there. I didn't expect you weren't."
"What did you want me for?" Piao asked again.
Mu Anxiao had thought Piao would be happy to hear she was looking for him, but he reacted this way.
"Aren't you happy?" she blurted out what she was thinking.
Piao frowned, "Why should I be happy?"
"I," Mu Anxiao pointed to herself, then to Piao, "was looking for you. Aren't you happy?"
Piao looked at Mu Anxiao's earnest expression and thought for a moment before saying, "If you're looking for me, I definitely won't be happy."
"Why?" Mu Anxiao looked confused.
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you're looking for me, it must be for something," Piao said directly.
Mu Anxiao was rendered speechless.
Piao looked at Mu Anxiao's stunned expression and couldn't help but smile, "How did I guess right? You came looking for me for a reason."
Mu Anxiao lowered her eyes, thought for a moment, then looked up and said, "I ran into Dog Head on the way."
"You met him?" Piao expressed surprise, furrowing his brow and asking, "He didn't say anything to you, did he?"
"He did," Mu Anxiao nodded.
"What?" Piao was curious.
Mu Anxiao thought of the dog-headed demon's insincere demeanor towards her, then considered her relationship with Dog Head, and said, "He asked me to put in a good word for him to you."
"Go ahead," Piao suddenly said.
Mu Anxiao was startled, then gave a couple of dry laughs and said, "That's a bit too sudden, isn't it?"
"Speak," Piao was serious.
Mu Anxiao was genuinely startled by Piao's sudden command. Looking at his face, she hesitated for a moment, then said, "Dog Head, he's... no, the dog isn't bad, he's just..." She closed her eyes halfway through and said, "I can't say it."
"You can't even say it?" Piao was surprised.
"To be honest," Mu Anxiao pursed her lips and smiled, "From the first day I met him, I've had a bad impression of this dog. If you ask me to say he's good, that would be going against my conscience." She patted her chest.
Piao glanced at the hand Mu Anxiao had placed on her chest and suddenly asked, "Does it hurt?"
"Hurt?" Mu Anxiao was taken aback.
"You hit yourself so hard, doesn't it hurt?" Piao added.
Mu Anxiao shook her head, "It doesn't hurt."
"Good, then," Piao responded, his words somewhat awkward.
Mu Anxiao looked at Piao's face and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Piao shook his head, then asked, "What did you want me for?"
"I came to find you..." Mu Anxiao scratched the back of her head, "Of course, I have something to tell you."
"What is it? Tell me," Piao gestured with his chin.
Mu Anxiao pursed her lips, "Um, I came to find you for a drink."
"A drink?" Piao repeated, asking, "Do you like to drink?"
"No," Mu Anxiao said eagerly, always worried that this might provoke Piao.
Piao nodded, "It's good that you don't. I dislike women who drink the most." He said, turning to the red-clothed rabbit spirit who was staring at him and adding, "Take your gaze off my face, or you'll understand the consequences yourself."
Hearing this, the red-clothed rabbit spirit quickly averted her gaze.
"Go get some wine," Piao said again.
The red-clothed rabbit spirit glanced at Mu Anxiao, then nodded slightly and left the room.
Mu Anxiao exclaimed, "Didn't you say you dislike women who drink? Why are you having her get wine?"
"You can watch me drink," Piao pointed at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao gave an awkward laugh, "What a strange habit you have."
"I like it," Piao said, turning towards the table.
Mu Anxiao watched Piao's back and thought: This is truly effortless. With that thought, she smiled and said, "Do you want her to bring some snacks too? It would be more enjoyable."
"No need," Piao sat down and pointed at Yan, "You sit down too."
"Okay," Yan nodded and sat on a chair.
Afterward, as Mu Anxiao walked to his side, Piao asked, "By the way, how is the mission I assigned you coming along?"
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao furrowed her brows and picked up the teapot, asking, "What mission?"
"Those rat demons," Piao said, deliberately glancing at Yan opposite him.
Yan's expression stiffened.
Mu Anxiao's eyes darted, and she said, "Oh, I haven't started it yet."
Yan, hearing this, shifted his gaze to Mu Anxiao's face.
Mu Anxiao began to feel uneasy.
Piao said, "Finish it by today. I don't have time to wait for you." As he spoke, he pushed an empty teacup towards Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao was stunned for a moment, then filled the cup with water and said, "I understand. I'll do it as soon as possible."
Yan furrowed his brows.
Then, Piao looked at Yan, "What's wrong?"
Yan shook his head.
Then, Mu Anxiao suddenly remembered her conversation with Piao in the back garden, and her brows furrowed. She suddenly asked, "You know?"
"Know what?" Piao asked while drinking tea.
"You know," Mu Anxiao swallowed, "You know Yan isn't a rabbit spirit?"
"I know," Piao replied casually.
Mu Anxiao's body stiffened. She turned her head to look at Yan's ferocious expression and said, "You're not allowed to kill her."
Hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed in Yan's eyes.
Piao put down his teacup and turned to look at Mu Anxiao, "I didn't say I was going to kill her. I just wanted to see you two kill each other."
"You..."
"Shut up. It's fine if you want me to spare the rat demons," Piao suddenly said.
"Your thoughts change too quickly!" Mu Anxiao was surprised.
Piao said, "How does it matter to you that my thoughts change quickly? Next, you help me think of a way to deal with the rabbit spirit."
"What?" Mu Anxiao was also startled.
Yan breathed a sigh of relief.
Piao said, "The rabbit spirit has been getting more and more arrogant lately. If this continues, won't there be no place for us fiends?"
"It's her abilities that give you a sense of crisis, isn't it?" Mu Anxiao said, seating herself next to Piao.
Piao said, "Yes, you're right, it gives me a sense of crisis."
"Do you think that Rabbit Queen is disloyal to you?" Mu Anxiao asked again.
Piao stared at Mu Anxiao's face for a few seconds and said, "Thanks to Shen Yan's mental torment, you have indeed become much smarter than before."
"What do you mean by that?" Mu Anxiao narrowed her eyes into slits.
"It means you were silly before, but you're still quite silly now," Piao said, picking up his teacup and smiling.
