After Mu Anxiao finished thinking, she lowered her eyes and considered the plight of Xu Lanyan and the others. Her eyes darkened, and as she turned around, she bumped into the dog-headed demon.
"Mu Anxiao, you're alone?" he said.
Mu Anxiao deliberately took half a step back and replied, "Are you blind, or do you have an eye condition? Does that question even need asking?"
"I was just making conversation," the dog-headed demon said with a smile.
"Move aside," Mu Anxiao said, deliberately glancing at the lesser demons standing behind him.
"Alright," the dog-headed demon nodded and said, "I'm really looking forward to seeing you killed by the Great Demon."
"I'm also really looking forward to seeing you killed by the Great Demon," Mu Anxiao said, a smirk on her lips.
Upon hearing this, the smile on the dog-headed demon's face vanished instantly. He asked, "What do you mean by that?"
"It means nothing, it just means you've been targeted by the Great Demon," Mu Anxiao spread her hands.
The dog-headed demon's expression soured. "You said it means nothing, but what did that last sentence mean?"
"It means exactly that. Move aside," Mu Anxiao waved her hand.
The dog-headed demon glanced at Mu Anxiao's hand and then quickly pleaded, "Help me."
"Help you?" Mu Anxiao pointed at the dog-headed demon and deliberately fiddled with her ear, "Did I hear that correctly? You want me to help you? I'm Mu Anxiao, the one who captured your brother!"
"Please, don't. The Great Demon kills without blinking. Can you possibly put in a good word for me with the Great Demon?" the dog-headed demon clasped his hands together.
Mu Anxiao feigned ignorance, tilting her head. "But I'm not very familiar with the Great Demon."
"He took you out with him," the dog-headed demon said excitedly.
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao frowned. "If that's the case, then you've seen his true appearance?"
The dog-headed demon immediately covered his mouth. "No, I just saw a back. He continued to cover his mouth.
Mu Anxiao, seeing the dog-headed demon's fearful yet guilty expression, said, "I can't hear what you're saying. Take your hand away."
The dog-headed demon's eyes flickered. He removed his hand and said, "I said, I only saw a back, and that back was yours."
"You saw my back, but a moment ago you said he took me out with him," Mu Anxiao chuckled. "Aren't your words contradictory?"
"I..." The dog-headed demon lost the courage to continue.
The lesser demons watched the suddenly nervous dog-headed demon, and they all began to worry for him.
Mu Anxiao calmly stared at his dog-like face and said, "Speak clearly. Did you see him or not?"
"I saw him," the dog-headed demon nodded slightly.
"You... saw..." Mu Anxiao confirmed again, pointing at the dog-headed demon's face. "His face?"
The dog-headed demon reluctantly nodded. "Yes, I saw it."
"Then this is easy to handle," Mu Anxiao shrugged.
"Easy to handle how?" the dog-headed demon asked nervously.
Mu Anxiao pursed her lips and smiled. "Like this, you now have a handle in my hands. Of course," she said, her face chilling as she glanced at the lesser demons behind him, "you could also kill me. But if you kill me, I still have a chance to go down below. If you are killed by the Great Demon, you won't even have soul dregs left. I've seen this happen."
"You've seen it?" the dog-headed demon exclaimed in surprise.
Mu Anxiao nodded. "Yes, when we went out today, he just killed someone. Also," she said mysteriously, "a maidservant beside the Rabbit Queen was personally dealt with by the Great Demon today, simply for saying the wrong thing."
"You're kidding," the dog-headed demon was terrified.
"What's the point of me joking about that? Of course, if you kill me, then you could..."
"Who wants to kill you?" the dog-headed demon interrupted.
"You don't want to kill me?" Mu Anxiao pointed at herself, feigning remembrance with a frown. "If I recall correctly, before coming here, you were so eager to skin me alive. Now you say you won't kill me, and I find that hard to believe."
"Why are you so fond of seeking trouble?" the dog-headed demon said with a dry laugh.
Mu Anxiao eyed the dog-headed demon's ingratiating expression. "If I had no connection with the Great Demon, you probably would have dealt with me by now."
"I..." The dog-headed demon averted his gaze. "I just wanted you to tell me where my elder brother's body is. I didn't mean to..."
"Still saying you didn't! You even suggested letting my body be used for your elder brother's resurrection," Mu Anxiao interrupted excitedly.
"I, you, I, I..." The dog-headed demon, worried about misspeaking, thought for a moment before continuing. "After I heard what you said, I abandoned that idea."
"What did I say?" Mu Anxiao frowned.
"You reminded me that you are a woman. If my elder brother woke up and found out he was a woman, he would definitely be unhappy," the dog-headed demon blurted out.
Mu Anxiao pointed at herself. "Did I say that? I don't remember."
"Anyway... I can't say it all, but you did say it, so it's correct," the dog-headed demon said.
Mu Anxiao sighed and asked, "Do you genuinely want me to speak well of you to the Great Demon?"
"Yes," the dog-headed demon nodded.
"This," Mu Anxiao twisted her mouth, "is not impossible. But you dog-headed creatures change your minds too quickly. If, by chance, I speak for you, and the Great Demon doesn't kill you, but then you stab me in the back later, it wouldn't be worth it for me."
"I'm not that kind of dog," the dog-headed demon said earnestly.
The first lesser demon carefully glanced at the dog-headed demon's resolute stance and intentionally coughed.
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao looked at the first lesser demon and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
The first lesser demon pointed to his throat. "It's uncomfortable here."
"You still have a throat?" Mu Anxiao said, glancing at the dog-headed demon who was smiling at her.
"Of course," the first lesser demon said, deliberately glancing at the dog-headed demon.
Seeing this, Mu Anxiao withdrew her gaze from the first lesser demon and looked back at the dog-headed demon. "Fine, I'll go back and think about how to help you. Move aside," she waved her hand.
The moment the dog-headed demon heard Mu Anxiao compromise, he smiled. "Thank you, Madam." With that, he led the lesser demons behind him and made way for Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao walked away without a backward glance.
Following that, the second Mu Anxiao walked away, the dog-headed demon's face fell, and he spat.
"Boss, if she finds out you did this, she definitely won't let you off the hook," the first lesser demon intentionally reminded him.
The dog-headed demon, not noticing the first lesser demon's earlier subtle warning to Mu Anxiao, said, "The Great Demon is very petty. If Mu Anxiao says anything about me to him, he won't come after me. He'll just kill Mu Anxiao, and then when he comes looking for me, I'll say Mu Anxiao was always pestering me. That way, the Great Demon will favor me, and perhaps, my elder brother can be revived."
