Xie Xin glanced sideways at Xiao Zeng, then turned back to Mu Anxiao, "How do you explain this?"
Wan Sha replied, "They are all demons."
Hearing Wan Sha's words, Mu Anxiao focused her gaze again on Xiao Zeng, who was walking towards them. "How could this be?" she murmured, lost in thought.
Wan Sha continued, "Everyone around you is a demon. None of them are human, and," she said with a serious expression, "as far as I know, they have all committed murder."
"Murder," Mu Anxiao repeated, her eyes becoming vacant. "You mean they are all demons?" She raised her head to look at Wan Sha.
Wan Sha stated, "Yes, they are all condemned demons. The people here, actually..."
"No," Mu Anxiao interrupted.
Xie Xin quietly watched Mu Anxiao's profile, her heart filled with sorrow.
She was hurt. She trusted Mu Anxiao so deeply, yet Mu Anxiao, swayed by Wan Sha's words, no longer believed her. This betrayal made Xie Xin lose her own trust in Mu Anxiao.
Sighing, she lowered her head.
Wan Sha declared, "I detest people who interrupt me the most."
"I, on the other hand, enjoy interrupting you," Mu Anxiao retorted. She paused, recalling the mortals she had passed on the street earlier. "You say they are all demons, but the fact is, those mortals didn't see me. How do you explain that?"
"I said some are, and some are not," Wan Sha replied, deliberately glancing at Xie Xin.
Just then, Xiao Zeng stopped beside Mu Anxiao. "You're back."
Mu Anxiao nodded. After exchanging glances with Xie Xin and Xiao Zeng, she felt a strange sensation.
Xie Xin stated, "I am not a demon."
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao looked at Xie Xin, who was eagerly trying to prove her identity, and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Mu Anxiao, I am not a demon. Didn't you say you trusted me?" Xie Xin's expression was laced with deep resentment. "Why are you acting like this now? Are you toying with me?"
Mu Anxiao hadn't expected her change in demeanor to elicit such a reaction from Xie Xin.
After a moment's thought, she said, "I said I trusted you, but you..."
"She is a demon," Wan Sha said, intentionally provoking Xie Xin.
Xie Xin shot a fierce glare at Wan Sha. "Can you just say less?"
Wan Sha chuckled. "My mouth is on my face, and what I say is my business." She then turned to Mu Anxiao, "She has experience with killing. She cannot be kept."
"Wan Sha, you're acting rather strangely," Mu Anxiao remarked, looking at Wan Sha.
As Mu Anxiao turned her attention to her, Wan Sha's eyes flickered. "I'm helping you."
"Helping me?" Mu Anxiao tightened the silver rope intentionally. "I think you're trying to harm me."
"I..."
Before Wan Sha could utter another word, Mu Anxiao turned back to Xie Xin. "You said, you trusted me when the wind began to stir?"
"Yes," Xie Xin replied, her tone indifferent rather than agitated.
Mu Anxiao observed Xie Xin's cold attitude towards her and responded with understanding, "I'm sorry."
"I don't need your apology."
"Why?" Mu Anxiao countered.
"Who knows when you might change your mind again," Xie Xin said, glancing at Xiao Zeng before turning and walking away.
Mu Anxiao watched Xie Xin's retreating figure, her eyes darkening.
Xiao Zeng also cast a glance at Xie Xin's back before turning to Mu Anxiao. "Big Brother set up a spell here before he left. He said that any demon, demon soul, or hidden immortal who comes here, we will be able to see."
"Huh?"
"He said that if we can see them, we can find a way to hide."
Mu Anxiao suddenly felt that her actions just now had been rather rash.
"Also, Xie Xin said she particularly dislikes being called a demon," Xiao Zeng remarked, looking towards the ruined temple. "What you did really hurt her."
"But she didn't explain herself to me clearly."
"Regardless, what you did was very hurtful."
Xiao Zeng saw Mu Anxiao's face full of regret and then glanced at Wan Sha, who had been instigating the conflict. He asked, "Where are you going?"
"Somewhere," Mu Anxiao replied, not wanting Xiao Zeng to know too much.
Wan Sha, hearing Mu Anxiao's evasive answer, deliberately said, "She's going down. Who knows if she'll be able to come back after this, right?" She looked at Mu Anxiao, "Friend."
"Who's your friend?" Mu Anxiao glared at Wan Sha, then looked at Xiao Zeng. "Alright, you should go back."
"Going down?" Xiao Zeng repeated the words silently, then looked up and asked, "Is it the underworld?"
"No..."
"Yes, it is. Why lie to a child?" Wan Sha said, looking down at Xiao Zeng. "Alright, hurry up and go inside, lest she decides to kill you soon."
Mu Anxiao's eyes widened. She glared furiously at Wan Sha.
Xiao Zeng asked, "What do you mean by that?"
Wan Sha nonchalantly stated, "It means she killed those ten beggars last night." She pointed at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao had been worried that Wan Sha would say such things, and sure enough, she did.
At this point, Mu Anxiao was speechless.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Zeng took a hasty step back and said, "Don't kill me."
"Do you actually believe that?" Mu Anxiao asked Xiao Zeng with a look of helplessness.
"I don't believe it," Xiao Zeng replied. With that, he turned and hurried into the ruined temple.
Mu Anxiao calmly watched Xiao Zeng's hurried departure and sighed. She then turned back to Wan Sha and said, "You really know how to talk nonsense."
"If you let me go, I'll stop talking nonsense."
"I don't believe your words."
"You don't believe me?" Wan Sha said, feigning tears. "Oh, hearing you say that truly saddens me."
"Just keep pretending," Mu Anxiao glared at Wan Sha, then looked towards the ruined temple, her mind preoccupied with Xie Xin's opinion of her.
"Go and see."
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao turned to Wan Sha. "Don't think I can't see your plan. You just want to escape after I go inside!"
"You really hurt that girl by calling her a demon just now."
"And now you've become a good person."
Wan Sha smiled. "I'm not a human; I'm a demon soul. If I do good, then I'm a good demon soul."
"How did I not realize you were such a smooth talker before?"
"That's because we weren't familiar with each other. Now that we are, naturally, I'll show you my true self."
"I don't think we're very familiar," Mu Anxiao said, glaring at Wan Sha. She then turned to look at the Yin messenger, whose back was to them, and asked, "Haven't you found it yet?"
The Yin messenger remained silent for a moment, then looked around before turning to Mu Anxiao and replying, "No."
"Didn't you say it was around here?"
"But it's gone again."
Ever since capturing Mu Anxiao, the Yin messenger had been tirelessly searching for the entrance.
He had thought he would find it upon arriving here, but it turned out to be another fruitless effort.
He felt exhausted by this, and more so, perplexed.
