Chapter 319 A Temporary End

Yan Ruoruo, worried that Mu Anxiao might say something out of line, deliberately said, "Why are you accompanying me to see him? Do I know you?"

"You're quite quick to change your tune," Mu Anxiao said helplessly.

The young man looked at Mu Anxiao and Yan Ruoruo, his expression instantly changing. "No, you said it would be just the two of us. What's the meaning of bringing someone else?" he asked. "Could it be that you think I'm that kind of man?"

Mu Anxiao calmly watched the young man's sudden shift in demeanor without a word.

Yan Ruoruo, concerned that the young man might continue to escalate, quickly explained, "No, you know I'm a medical student, and it's not convenient for me to be out alone. Besides, when I asked you out, I already told you that my elder sister found someone to pick me up. I just didn't expect," she glanced at Mu Anxiao, "that the person my elder sister found would be her."

"Didn't you say you didn't know me?" Mu Anxiao interjected deliberately.

"Will you die if you don't speak?" Yan Ruoruo glared at Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao shrugged. "I won't die, but I have to complete the task your sister gave me." She reached out and took Yan Ruoruo's arm.

"You..."

The young man frowned, looking at Mu Anxiao's hand on Yan Ruoruo's arm, and suddenly said, "I get it. You're doing this on purpose."

Mu Anxiao completely ignored the young man, continuing to hold Yan Ruoruo's arm. "I didn't want to bother you, but you betrayed me first."

"How could I..."

"Who was it that pushed me towards the crowd trying to get on the bus just now? And who was waving at me from the ground?"

"Doesn't that sound convoluted to you?" Yan Ruoruo tried to break free from her.

"It's not convoluted," Mu Anxiao said, deliberately raising an eyebrow.

"You..."

"Stop," the young man interrupted, unable to take it anymore.

Immediately, Mu Anxiao and Yan Ruoruo both turned to look at the young man.

The young man glanced at Yan Ruoruo, then fixed his gaze on Mu Anxiao's face. "What do you mean by this?"

"What do I mean?" Mu Anxiao retorted.

The young man pointed at Yan Ruoruo. "She's my girlfriend."

"Just an online friend," Mu Anxiao exposed.

The young man paused, blinked, and said, "She wasn't before, but now that we've met, she is my girlfriend. I know you fell for me at first sight, but using such tactics to break us up is too much."

"Are you sick?" Mu Anxiao spat out the four words coldly.

"Whether I'm sick or not isn't up to you to decide. But the facts prove that you are definitely interested in me. What that interest is, I can't say, but you know it in your heart," the young man said.

Mu Anxiao was bewildered by the young man's words. She then released Yan Ruoruo's arm and pointed at the young man's face. "I don't know what you're plotting, but let me tell you, I've seen you for who you are."

"What have you seen?" The young man couldn't help but glance at Yan Ruoruo.

"You are a scumbag, a scumbag who's been narcissistic since birth," Mu Anxiao said coldly.

Zhang Yan watched in surprise as Mu Anxiao delivered those words with such indifference, then smiled and muttered, "This guy really knows how to learn and apply. He's using the words I casually said yesterday. Impressive."

"How can you say that about him?" Yan Ruoruo said angrily.

Mu Anxiao looked at Yan Ruoruo without a flicker of emotion. "Now I'll give you two options: one, get lost. Two, I'll call your sister and have her tell you to get lost."

"You are so uncivilized."

"Civilized," Mu Anxiao stared coldly at the young man who uttered those words. "You make it sound like you are civilized. You don't give up your seat for elders, and now you're deceiving young girls. You're quite something."

"Do I know you well enough for you to say that?" the young man asked through gritted teeth.

"No, we don't know each other. But I was sent by her sister to keep an eye on her. Originally, I thought her online friend was a good person, but after meeting you," Mu Anxiao took Yan Ruoruo's arm again, "I don't think that's the case."

"What does my business have to do with you?" Yan Ruoruo shouted.

Immediately, people waiting for their cars shifted their gaze.

Mu Anxiao didn't care about the onlookers and continued, "I never thought your business had anything to do with me, but your sister..."

"Shut up," Yan Ruoruo shouted, no longer caring about the strangers' eyes.

However, the young man's reaction was completely different from theirs. As Yan Ruoruo began to speak, he took a few steps back, pretending not to know them.

Mu Anxiao fell silent.

Yan Ruoruo grabbed Mu Anxiao's wrist. "Let go of me."

"I won't."

"Let me tell you, even if I go back with you now, I'll still ask him out tomorrow. Are you going to interfere every single day?"

"Yes," Mu Anxiao nodded. "I will find you every day until you end your relationship with this person."

"Fine, then when I get back, I'll say bad things about you to my sister. She definitely won't ask you again," Yan Ruoruo said. She turned to the young man and said gently, "Let's talk when we get back. That's all for today. I'm sorry, darling."

The young man felt awkward. He nodded briefly, then turned and walked away.

Zhang Yan watched the young man's retreating back, lowered his head, and thought, "This person is indeed problematic." Then, he shifted his gaze back to Mu Anxiao and the others.

"Let go," Yan Ruoruo said the two words coldly.

Mu Anxiao very cooperatively released her hand. "Let's go back."

"Treat me to a drink," Yan Ruoruo said.

"Let's go," Mu Anxiao agreed immediately.

Yan Ruoruo hadn't expected Mu Anxiao to be so generous. She smiled and said, "Let's go." Then, she glared at the strangers looking at her with odd expressions, and turned towards a nearby milk tea shop.

Mu Anxiao didn't look at the people and followed her.

Zhang Yan sighed and said, "It looks like I'll be busy for the next few days." He then followed Mu Anxiao's steps.

For the next three days, Mu Anxiao, with the permission of Shi Momo, who didn't take Yan Ruoruo's words seriously, went to wait outside Yan Ruoruo's school every day. Unfortunately, Yan Ruoruo only felt disappointment whenever she saw Mu Anxiao.

"Why are you here again?" Yan Ruoruo expressed her displeasure.

Mu Anxiao said coldly, "Your sister asked me to come. Otherwise, how could you have gotten a leave slip?"

"Why is it you getting the leave slips again?" Yan Ruoruo's attitude towards Mu Anxiao was completely different from the previous two days; today, she seemed more amiable.

"I don't like it," Mu Anxiao spat out the three words coldly.
