Chapter 357 Seeking the Future Master

Mu Anxiao watched the two girls and the female homeroom teacher’s backs, thinking, This will surely end in nothing, how boring. As she thought, she touched her fragmented phone, and it was restored.

“I think you shouldn’t stay here anymore. It’s no good for you.”

Hearing this, Mu Anxiao turned and looked at the wolf demon approaching her. “You’ve finished eating.”

“Mhm.” The wolf demon stopped in front of Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao asked, “Hu Yuan’s mother is gone?”

“I chased her away,” the wolf demon shrugged.

“You’re really not a good person,” Mu Anxiao squinted at the wolf demon.

“You are a good person,” the wolf demon said, looking down at Mu Anxiao’s phone. “You should have let it stay fragmented. That way, the teacher wouldn’t have anything to say.”

“I still need to use it,” Mu Anxiao said.

The wolf demon tilted its head and smiled. “Those two girls won’t be punished severely. That teacher was just putting on a show for you.”

“I know,” Mu Anxiao said, lighting up her phone to find Zhang Yan’s number.

“You know,” the wolf demon said, disappointed, pointing at the phone. “I think you should get a new phone. You earned so much money yesterday; buying a new one is more than enough for you.”

“No need,” Mu Anxiao said, dialing Zhang Yan’s number and turning away.

The wolf demon stopped interrupting and glanced at Mu Anxiao’s retreating back before turning and walking away.

After a few beeps, Zhang Yan answered, “Hello, what’s up?”

Mu Anxiao looked left and right and said, “Feng Qishi is talking about becoming an immortal again. What do you think we should do about this?”

“That’s your business, isn’t it?” Zhang Yan said, sitting on the sofa and watching the workers install his new TV, chuckling.

“You…”

Before Mu Anxiao could even say one word, the noisy installation sounds came through from the other end. She paused her speech.

“I’m busy right now. We’ll talk about it later,” Zhang Yan said hastily, then hung up. He stood up and smiled at the installation workers, “You’re working hard.”

“No trouble, no trouble,” the worker replied politely.

Zhang Yan smiled, looked around the room, and muttered, “Let me see, what else needs to be replaced?” As he spoke, he began to wander around the room.

Outside, Liu Xian and Fan Yan exchanged glances. Fan Yan said, “Didn’t the boss say he wasn’t going to change the TV before? Why is he changing it now?”

“Who knows. Anyway,” Liu Xian said, smiling as he looked at his own room, “We can watch TV from tonight. That’s great.”

“The boss must have gotten lucky,” Fan Yan guessed.

“Who knows? Anyway, it’s our benefit when the boss changes things. Let’s go. It’d be nice to watch some TV during lunch break,” Liu Xian patted Fan Yan on the shoulder and turned towards their room.

Fan Yan glanced at Zhang Yan, who was pacing around in the house, sighed, and followed Liu Xian.

At school, Mu Anxiao put down her phone and sat down on the spot, looking at the boys and girls on the basketball court. She muttered, “Zhang Yan is very busy, it seems,” she sighed, “I’ll have to figure out how to reject Feng Qishi myself.”

“That might be difficult,” the short demon said, sitting down beside Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao turned to look at the short demon and asked, “Why are you back again?”

“During lunch break, the boss and I can’t learn anything,” the short demon said, glancing at the big-headed fat demon sitting next to him.

“That library,” Mu Anxiao turned her gaze forward again, “it has all sorts of books. You can go read them.”

“If we flip through books, it will scare others,” the short demon explained.

“You can actually read,” Mu Anxiao said.

The short demon was excited, “Of course we can read! Otherwise, we wouldn’t have thought of coming here.”

“I heard there’s also an elementary school and a middle school here. Why did you specifically choose high school?” Mu Anxiao shifted her gaze back to the short demon’s face.

“Because… we like the environment here. The air here is more compatible with our demon energy,” the short demon said casually.

Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao’s brow suddenly furrowed. “What do you mean by that?”

“I…” the short demon gave an awkward smile. “What I mean is, we like the atmosphere here.”

“Why do I feel like you’re up to something?” Mu Anxiao said directly.

The big-headed fat demon leaned forward and looked at Mu Anxiao. “We all said we wanted to experience school, don’t you remember?”

“I don’t forget,” Mu Anxiao said. “But why did you insist on following me in?”

“That’s because…”

Before the big-headed fat demon could finish speaking, the short demon eagerly interrupted, “That’s because we smelled the master’s scent on you.”

“As expected, there’s something fishy,” Mu Anxiao snorted softly and pushed herself up with one hand on the ground.

The big-headed fat demon glared at the short demon in exasperation and stood up. “I’m sorry, we lied to you.”

“Demons,” Mu Anxiao said with a cold laugh, her back to them, “I never believe what demons say, including you.”

“We were looking for our master that day, but the rules don’t allow us demons to search for future masters, so we lied,” the big-headed fat demon stood up and explained.

“Yes, we didn’t mean to deceive you. Please don’t summon heavenly lightning to strike us,” the short demon said.

“Did you find him?” Mu Anxiao suddenly asked.

The two looked at each other. The big-headed fat demon said, “No.”

“Then…” Mu Anxiao hesitated, then turned to them, “Do you have any clues?”

“A male,” the short demon said.

“A male?” Mu Anxiao repeated, lowering her eyes to think. “Was your master female in her previous life?”

“Mhm,” the big-headed fat demon nodded and said, “She broke the rules for us and was imprisoned below for a full hundred years, which earned her one chance to reincarnate.”

“Then you should let him live out this life properly,” Mu Anxiao said, glancing at them. “You shouldn’t have come to disturb him.”

“No,” the short demon looked at the big-headed fat demon, stepped forward, and said, “We heard that our master’s life in this life is limited. We want to extend his life and prevent him from suffering anymore.”

“Who told you that?” Mu Anxiao furrowed her brow.

“To be frank,” the big-headed fat demon knew there was no point in hiding anything anymore, and said, “We confused a soul spirit, and he told us.”

“What do you mean by confused?” Mu Anxiao’s brow furrowed.

The big-headed fat demon hesitated for a moment, then spread his hand and conjured a small cloth bag. As he opened it, a soul child floated out and landed on the ground.

Mu Anxiao looked down at the soul child and exclaimed in surprise, “What did you do to him?”

“We just cast a truth spell on him, and then he told us everything we wanted to know. But,” the big-headed fat demon said with a troubled look, “he’s disobedient, so we had no choice but to put him in the bag.”
