Chapter 1 Coming to Say Goodbye

In the mournful woods, a man leaned against a tall tree, a smile tugging at his lips as he pointed at the small black-clad demon beside the approaching woman. "Yo, yours is quite good."

The woman, holding the silver rope that bound the small black-clad demon, stopped expressionlessly before the man. "Is it time for that person to reincarnate?"

"Yes, go ahead," the man said, extending his hand.

The woman nodded and handed the silver rope directly to the man. "This fellow is very cunning. Keep a close eye on him, I won't be responsible if he escapes."

"I know," the man nodded.

The woman said nothing, glancing at the small black-clad demon glaring at her from the side. With a turn, she disappeared.

After the woman left, the small black-clad demon glared at the man. "I will not reincarnate."

"Don't say anything else, you just stay put with your brethren," the man said, tugging the silver rope and turning towards the deep forest.

The woman floated amidst the clouds, waving away the obscuring dark clouds, and looked directly at the white-clad man following behind the Yin Messenger below, narrowing her eyes and diving down.

As she approached, the woman landed steadily in front of the Yin Messenger, feigning politeness. "Hello, I'd like to speak with that person..." She glanced at the white-clad man behind the Yin Messenger and changed her words. "No, I'd like to say a few words to that soul."

"Aren't you from above?" the Yin Messenger asked in surprise.

"Mm, you could say I am from above. That..." the woman pointed at the white-clad man behind him, "Who is he, you should know, right?"

The Yin Messenger replied without looking back, "I don't know who he is, but I know who you are."

"I'm not that famous, am I?" the woman asked with a forced smile.

The Yin Messenger snorted lightly. "Aren't you that troublesome idler immortal, Mu Anxiao, who meddles in other people's business and carelessly ties romantic threads?"

"No," Mu Anxiao took a deep breath, maintaining a pleasant demeanor. "How do I meddle in other people's business? How do I carelessly tie romantic threads? I just want to say goodbye to this person. Am I wrong?"

"It's clear you've been commissioned by some immortal to come here and save him," the Yin Messenger said impolitely.

The woman forced a smile. "No, I was just passing by and saw an acquaintance, so I came to see them and say goodbye." She saw the distrust in the Yin Messenger's eyes and began to gesticulate. "Forget it, I'll tell you the truth. I just brought back a small demon for you guys. Ask your own people if you don't believe me."

"Who would believe you'd help us," the Yin Messenger's attitude was hostile.

"Aren't you a ghost?" the woman retorted.

"You..."

As the Yin Messenger uttered the first syllable, the white-clad man could no longer stand it. "Mu Anxiao, I'm already dead, why are you still looking for me?"

Hearing this, Mu Anxiao shoved the Yin Messenger aside. The Yin Messenger stared in astonishment at his arm that Mu Anxiao had touched, his eyes widening. "How could you touch me?"

Mu Anxiao turned her head to the Yin Messenger. "I'll explain to you later, don't speak." She said, then turned back to the white-clad man, her expression becoming serious. "Of course, I had to come see you. If it weren't for you, how could I have become an immortal? If it weren't for you..."

"From the day you became an immortal, we have had no connection. Now, please get out of my sight immediately."

"You're still holding a grudge because I accidentally drank your immortal ascension medicine, aren't you?" Mu Anxiao stared directly into the man's eyes. "Shen Yan, I think it's time to resolve the misunderstanding between us. It's no good for either of us if you reincarnate with resentment."

"You're clearly feeling guilty."
