Chapter 161 The Words of the Demon Souls

"I've investigated you, you're that lazy Yin Messenger from below," the man in the pale blue robe said, intending to expose the Yin Messenger.

The Yin Messenger remained unfazed, calmly looking at the pale blue-robed man and saying, "Some people, if they don't push themselves, they'll never know how capable they are. She's a prime example."

"She's just a mortal."

"That's because you haven't seen her true abilities," the Yin Messenger said with pride.

"What are you so proud of?" the pale blue-robed man asked, confused.

The Yin Messenger continued to smile proudly, "I can guarantee that in the near future, she will become my most promising disciple."

"Your Yin Messengers can... take disciples? That's quite rare," the pale blue-robed man said dryly.

"Don't think that just because you people above can, we down here can't either," the Yin Messenger said, still full of pride.

"Alright," the pale blue-robed man conceded helplessly.

In the room, Mu Anxiao lay on the ground with a dark expression, looking at the small jade gourd that had been smashed into two halves, her mouth pouting.

"Human, you've caused big trouble."

Hearing this, Mu Anxiao, following the chilling spectral wind, looked up at the iron cages wrapped in black cloth in the corner, swallowed, and asked, "Are you guys demon souls?"

"You human, you know what we are?"

"Of course," Mu Anxiao replied, trying not to show her fear, and looked down at the broken small jade gourd.

"What you smashed was something from the underworld. That thing is very rare, very few Yin Messengers possess it. If it's broken, the owner of that jade gourd will surely not let you off," a child's voice said.

"Are you a child demon?" Mu Anxiao asked casually.

"I'm not a child demon, it's just that my voice sounds a bit like a child's."

"Oh," Mu Anxiao nodded, picked up the small jade gourd that had been smashed into two halves, and asked, "Do you guys want to reincarnate?" As she spoke, she pushed herself up to stand.

"No," one of the demon souls replied in an elderly voice.

"Why not? Reincarnation is good for you guys..."

Mu Anxiao's words were cut short as the elderly voice said again, "If you leave, we won't harm you. If you don't leave, then don't blame us for being impolite."

"Impolite, I don't mind."

Listening to the sudden eerie voices and feeling the chilling spectral wind blowing towards her, Mu Anxiao chickened out.

"You said that," her voice was tinged with tears.

"Demon souls never lie," the child's voice said.

Mu Anxiao swallowed and said, "Don't go back on your word." As she spoke, she began to back away.

"We won't," they said in unison.

Mu Anxiao was covered in a cold sweat, and she emphasized, "Remember your words."

The moment Mu Anxiao finished speaking, an explosion sound came from the cages. Mu Anxiao's eyes widened, and she hurriedly turned, pulling open the door that had somehow been closed, and stumbled across the threshold.

Outside the room...

"Did you hear that..."

The pale blue-robed man's words were cut short as Mu Anxiao, her face deathly pale, screamed and rushed towards them.

Instantly, the proud expression on the Yin Messenger's face vanished.

The pale blue-robed man glanced at the stunned Yin Messenger and said, "Hurry up, that guy might have blown up your small jade gourd."

The Yin Messenger looked embarrassed and feigned calmness as he stepped forward, asking, "What's wrong with you?"

Mu Anxiao, panting, blurted out three words without thinking, "You lied to me."

"How did I lie to you?" the Yin Messenger asked.
