To her surprise, Mu Anxiao showed no signs of waking. Instead, as if in retaliation, she raised her hand and patted the man’s shoulder twice, saying, “Don’t touch me.” Then, she smacked her lips and continued to sleep.
The man looked down at Mu Anxiao’s persistent state and then glanced at the locked door, which Xi’er had secured. He said, “Mu Anxiao, if you’re still asleep, I’m really going to leave you alone.” With that, he patted her shoulder a few more times.
Following the man’s “calls,” Mu Anxiao groggily opened her eyes, experiencing a delusion. “Shen Fengzi, why are you here?” she asked. Just as she was about to lift her head, the man pushed her away. The moment Mu Anxiao made contact with the ground, she became fully conscious.
“Who is Shen Fengzi?” the man asked, looking down at Mu Anxiao, who had been pushed to the floor.
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao, still lying on the ground, casually replied, “What’s it to you?” Under the man’s violence, she couldn’t be bothered to speak properly.
“I didn’t say it was related to me,” the man said, looking towards the desk.
Following this, Mu Anxiao let out a soft scoff. “Since you know it has nothing to do with you, then don’t ask so much,” she said. She sat up and, following the man’s gaze, slowly turned her head towards the desk. “What are you looking at?” she asked.
“Do you want to save the wolf demon’s life?” The man withdrew his gaze and fixed it on the back of Mu Anxiao’s head.
Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao immediately stood up. “Of course I do.” As she said this, she remembered where she was, and with a slight delay in her reaction, she looked around. “Huh? Where’s that Xi’er?” she asked.
“She’s gone out,” the man replied, taking a step towards the desk.
Seeing this, Mu Anxiao quickly followed. “Why couldn’t she see you…” she started, then abruptly remembered falling asleep in the man’s arms. Stimulated by this memory, she became inexplicably angry. “Why didn’t you wake me up just now?”
“If I woke you up, you would have spoken, and once we spoke, we’d both be exposed,” the man stopped at the desk and turned to look at Mu Anxiao. “It’s fine if you’re discovered, but what if I am?”
“Why would it be fine if I were discovered? How can you be so selfish?” Mu Anxiao became even more indignant.
The man let out a soft scoff. “You are Ouyang Ye’s beloved woman, and I am the celestial being he despises the most. Tell me, if we were both discovered together, who would be in more trouble?”
“You,” Mu Anxiao felt the man had a point.
“Then it’s settled. So, it’s better for you to be quiet when your eyes are closed,” the man said calmly.
“You look better when you’re not talking,” Mu Anxiao said. She then thought about her actions not long ago, her heart sank, and she reminded him, “This matter, you know and I know, don’t…”
“I don’t have the time to talk about your affairs,” the man interrupted, turning back around.
Immediately, Mu Anxiao walked up behind the man, thought for a moment, and said, “You still haven’t answered my question.”
“What question?” The man hadn’t paid attention to Mu Anxiao’s words at all.
At this, Mu Anxiao became even angrier, but considering her own insignificant status relative to the man, she lost her temper. “Why couldn’t Xi’er see us just now?” She remembered that she and the man were standing in a rather conspicuous spot.
The man: “We were invisible.”
“Did you use magic?” Mu Anxiao was startled.
“No,” the man said, withdrawing his hand that was about to pick up the terrain map and looking at Mu Anxiao. “The terrain map.”
“You found it!” Mu Anxiao’s eyes lit up.
The man pointed to the desk.
Seeing this, Mu Anxiao followed the man’s finger and frowned. “Why didn’t you get it yourself?”
“You want to save the wolf demon’s life,” the man said coldly.
Life?
Mu Anxiao’s purpose in doing all this was to save the wolf demon’s life. The moment the man uttered these words, Mu Anxiao’s nerves tightened. Without thinking, she quickly stepped forward, picked up the terrain map, and said, “Here, I’ll give it to you.” She handed the terrain map to the man.
The man glanced at the terrain map and then suddenly turned towards the window.
Mu Anxiao was confused by the man’s inexplicable reaction. “What are you doing?” she asked. Just as she was about to go around to the front of the man, he turned around and faced her. Seeing this, she became even more bewildered. “What exactly do you want to do?”
“That guy is your master now,” the man reminded her.
“Master…” Mu Anxiao repeated, her memory instantly reawakened. “Oh, Feng Mi.” she said, turning her head towards the door… her lips pursed.
The man observed Mu Anxiao’s reaction and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“He should have left by now,” Mu Anxiao muttered to herself. At that moment, a knock came from the door. “What’s going on?” she said, backing away in fear and looking at the man.
Just then, Feng Mi’s voice came from outside the door. “Is anyone in there?”
Hearing this, Mu Anxiao’s nerves tightened. “Did he hear our conversation?” she asked.
“No,” the man said, placing his hand on Mu Anxiao’s shoulder. “I’ll pat your shoulder, and then you reply.”
Mu Anxiao nodded.
Seeing that Mu Anxiao was smart, the man wasted no more words. He gently patted her shoulders twice, then reminded her, “Don’t tell him you found the terrain map.”
“I know,” Mu Anxiao whispered back, hurrying to the door. As soon as she opened it, her expression froze. “What’s going on.”
On the other side of the door, Feng Mi had clearly heard the movement inside. He asked excitedly, “You’re still inside?” He patted the door.
Mu Anxiao listened, then deliberately said, “Didn’t you say the elder wouldn’t come at this time? Why is she here all of a sudden? Didn’t you just leave? Why are you back?”
“I am your master, so naturally I have to stay here to watch over you,” Feng Mi said. After a moment’s thought, he asked, “By the way, did you find the terrain map?”
“You…”
“If you found it, pass it to me through the door crack, and then I’ll figure out a way to save you,” Feng Mi said deliberately. He had already planned to take the terrain map and leave.
Hearing Feng Mi’s enthusiastic response, Mu Anxiao roughly understood his intentions. Naturally, she could not fulfill the desires of such a selfish person (although she had never intended to fulfill them anyway). “The elder was here the whole time, and I hadn’t looked for it. I’ll look for it now.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
“Oh, right, can you figure out a way to unlock the door and let me out?” Mu Anxiao said intentionally.
“Sure, I’ll find a way right away,” Feng Mi readily agreed.
Hearing Feng Mi’s eager response, Mu Anxiao curled her lips and turned away.
