“You are angry.” Jiong Ye stared intently at the wolf demon’s face.
The wolf demon sneered, “What is there to be angry about? It seems he truly doesn’t understand me.”
“What do you intend to do?” Mu An Xiao felt the wolf demon’s demonic energy and asked.
“What else can I do? Since he wants my life, I’ll do unto him as he would do unto me and take his life first.” The wolf demon said, his clenched fists emitting bursts of red light.
“If you do that, you’ll be no different from him,” Jiong Ye said lightly.
“So what?” the wolf demon replied, immediately turning his gaze to Jiong Ye. “He who seeks my life shall surely die.”
Jiong Ye looked at the wolf demon’s fully demonic appearance and couldn’t help but chuckle, “I never expected you, a wolf demon, to have such backbone.”
“I want to go out.” The wolf demon shifted his gaze back to Mu An Xiao’s face.
Mu An Xiao knew the wolf demon was impatient, which was why she didn’t want to speak too directly. However, what had to be faced must be faced. If she remained silent, the wolf demon likely wouldn’t let it go. Helplessly, she had no choice but to recount her recent conversation with the man, word for word.
After listening to Mu An Xiao’s account, the wolf demon relaxed. “You want to protect me.” Gratitude flickered in his eyes.
“If you die, it will do me no good. In short,” Mu An Xiao said, glancing down at the wolf demon’s now relaxed hands, “you’re not allowed to let him take your life, and neither am I.”
“Thank you.” The wolf demon was still touched.
Mu An Xiao was unaccustomed to the wolf demon’s thanks, her eyes involuntarily darting away. “I’ve said what I needed to say. You two should keep my secret. If you can’t keep your mouths shut,” she looked pointedly at Jiong Ye, “I can help you with that.”
“Do you think I would say anything?” Jiong Ye, realizing he was being targeted, retorted.
“I don’t know, but,” Mu An Xiao said, recalling Jiong Ye’s past actions, her expression turning serious, “if I find out you betrayed me, you’ll be the first one I deal with.”
“I’m the one who told you about the immortals, can’t you be a little less unfriendly to me? Really…” Jiong Ye hated this feeling of not being trusted and said softly, “It’s really hurtful.”
“Are you even human?” Mu An Xiao cast a sidelong glance at Jiong Ye.
Jiong Ye frowned. “Of course, I’m human. But speaking of which,” he furrowed his brow slightly, “do you really intend to help that man find those immortals?”
“If you reveal anything about the man’s business, I’ll lop your head off,” Mu An Xiao warned, pointing a finger at Jiong Ye.
Upon hearing this, Jiong Ye quickly raised his hands to cover his head and said, “You’re being too violent.”
“Just remember what I said,” Mu An Xiao replied, pushing Jiong Ye away.
“What are you going to do?” The wolf demon knew Jiong Ye wouldn’t dare to act rashly, so he didn’t continue to threaten him on Mu An Xiao’s behalf.
“I might be able to get out from over there.” Mu An Xiao said, stepping onto the straw mat and reaching out to touch the moss-covered wall. “You two wait for me here.”
“You can also pass through walls?” Jiong Ye exclaimed in surprise.
Mu An Xiao turned back. “I know far more than you can imagine. If you dare offend me,” her gaze turned cold, “you’d better be prepared to lose your head.”
“Can you not be like this?”
“No.” Mu An Xiao said, lowering her hand and beginning to ponder a solution.
Jiong Ye didn’t know what Mu An Xiao was thinking. However, he genuinely regretted listening to the man’s story. If he hadn’t heard it, he wouldn’t be threatened by her like this. With that realization, a look of regret naturally surfaced in his eyes. Building on this regret, he couldn’t help but say, “You might as well erase my memories.”
Hearing this, both Mu An Xiao and the wolf demon turned to look at Jiong Ye, who had suddenly spoken those words. “What do you mean by that?” Mu An Xiao asked, feigning ignorance.
Mu An Xiao did this for no other reason than to test whether Jiong Ye had any internal struggles. If he didn’t, he would appear indifferent. If he did, he would react this way, and then she could trust him with peace of mind. Now, the facts proved that her method had yielded some results.
However, Jiong Ye couldn’t bear it any longer. “Erase that part of the conversation, and then you’ll trust me.”
“Even if your memories are erased, my trust in you will only be half. Unless,” Mu An Xiao said, a smile playing on her lips, “you use your demonic arts to create a rough map of this place for me.”
“How do I do that?” Jiong Ye frowned.
“It’s simple, just use your demonic arts on paper,” Mu An Xiao said, conjuring a blank sheet of paper and handing it to Jiong Ye. “As long as you do it, I won’t threaten you or scare you anymore.”
“Really?” Jiong Ye was moved.
Mu An Xiao nodded and then added, “But if…”
“I won’t tell anyone what you told me. As for that man’s business, I promise to keep silent.” Jiong Ye quickly reassured Mu An Xiao.
Mu An Xiao smiled. “Come here.”
“I’ll try. I can’t guarantee I’ll draw it completely.” Jiong Ye said, quickly stepping forward and taking the blank paper from Mu An Xiao’s hand.
At that moment, Mu An Xiao raised her hand and tapped Jiong Ye on the forehead. Jiong Ye was dazed. “Why did you hit me?” he asked, swaying unsteadily before collapsing.
The wolf demon looked bewildered. “What are you doing?”
“The test is over. He knows things he should forget now,” Mu An Xiao said, looking at the wolf demon who was suddenly clutching his head. “What are you doing?”
“I know quite a lot too.” The wolf demon was scared.
Mu An Xiao: “We’re already in the same boat. Even if you know things, it’s no threat to me. But him,” she glanced at Jiong Ye, whose memory she had just erased, “I still need to guard against him.”
“If you need to guard against him, then guard against him all the time. Why test him?” The wolf demon couldn’t understand Mu An Xiao.
“Testing him repeatedly is how I verify his sincerity. You heartless fellow, what do you understand?” Mu An Xiao said, bending down to retrieve the blank paper from Jiong Ye’s hand, and sighing. “I need to go out for a bit. You stay here and behave yourself.”
“How will you get out?” The wolf demon was curious.
“Passing through walls,” Mu An Xiao said, turning to face the wall again.
Seeing this, the wolf demon was surprised. “Didn’t you say you couldn’t pass through walls?”
“Let’s try,” Mu An Xiao said, clearing her throat, raising her hand… after making a few gestures, she strode towards the wall and rammed into it.
The next second.
A dull thud echoed, and the wolf demon, as if feeling the pain himself, covered his eyes.
Meanwhile, Mu An Xiao gasped in pain several times, then raised her hand and patted the moss-covered wall vigorously. “This is impossible. This spell…”
“You’re using spells again.” The wolf demon was startled, quickly dropping his hands and looking at Mu An Xiao’s pained back.
Hearing this, Mu An Xiao, rubbing her head, turned to look at the wolf demon, who was visibly surprised. “Are you that afraid of being implicated by me?”
