Mo Juan’s body stiffened, and she released her grip. “Ye, you actually yelled at me for her.” Her face was filled with panic and grievance.
Ouyang Ye replied, “Don’t say such things again. She already has me in her heart.” He then straightened his sleeves and, as he walked past Mo Juan, added, “You can leave. If she sees you, she’ll misunderstand again.”
“Ye…”
“Withdraw.” Ouyang Ye said with a sharp tone and strode towards the door.
Mo Juan’s eyes darkened. With a wave of her arm, she vanished.
Immediately after, Ouyang Ye opened the door and looked at Mu Anxiao, who was standing outside, angrily glaring at him. He said coldly, “You know you’re wrong.”
“What did I do wrong?” Mu Anxiao retorted, pushing past Ouyang Ye. She poked her head inside and sniffed, then declared, “As expected.”
Ouyang Ye looked confused. “Expected what?” His heart began to race.
Mu Anxiao pulled her head back, crossed her arms, and looked at the outwardly calm Ouyang Ye. “When you’re in a bad mood, you find Mo Juan. It seems you’re very dissatisfied with me.”
“I’m not…”
“You’re still saying you’re not? Do you think my ears are deaf? Mo Juan was speaking ill of me the entire time. Don’t think I didn’t hear it.” Mu Anxiao interrupted, pointing a finger towards the open window.
Following Mu Anxiao’s指, Ouyang Ye glanced towards the window, his expression freezing. “…”
“What’s done in the dark will be brought to light. I really didn’t expect,” Mu Anxiao clicked her tongue twice, “that your relationship with her had gotten to this point. Hmph, if you ask me, you should just marry her. Then I can leave, and everyone will be happy.”
“Mu Anxiao.” Ouyang Ye roared.
Mu Anxiao was completely unfazed by Ouyang Ye’s intimidation and smiled again. “What, you can do it, but I can’t say it?”
“I and Juan’er…”
“Juan’er.” Mu Anxiao deliberately repeated the name.
Ouyang Ye’s expression stiffened. He continued, “She and I are just master and servant. Can you stop talking nonsense?”
“If you want me to stop talking nonsense, fine,” Mu Anxiao said, meeting Ouyang Ye’s gaze. “Don’t erase Feng Qishi’s memories.”
Ouyang Ye’s face turned grim.
Mu Anxiao narrowed her eyes. “What, you’re not agreeing?”
“Even if he stays here, he’s still in a trial period. Only this way,” Ouyang Ye said, frowning slightly, “can he pass the trial.”
“Oh.” Mu Anxiao replied indifferently.
Ouyang Ye disliked Mu Anxiao’s attitude and said in a low voice, “What do you mean by that?”
“What I mean is,” Mu Anxiao paused, then continued, “what you think and what you plan has nothing to do with me. But he is the only person I am most familiar with here, besides the wolf demon and the vine spirit. If you erase his memories, I won’t have any fun. Therefore, I forbid you from doing this.”
“You still can’t let go of him.” Ouyang Ye stated flatly.
“This has nothing to do with letting go. I just don’t want him to forget to send me a big gift because of you. Also,” Mu Anxiao said, her eyes cold, “I don’t want to see a familiar person forget me. Unless you erase my memories too, then everything will be perfect.”
“You and he are different.” Ouyang Ye said agitatedly.
Mu Anxiao let out a soft hum. “How are we different? Is it because you’re afraid I’ll forget you?”
“Yes, I’m afraid you’ll forget me,” Ouyang Ye said, staring intently at Mu Anxiao’s face. “Even though I don’t hold such an important position in your heart, I just like you this way. If you forget me, your attitude towards me will definitely change drastically. So, to prevent such a thing from happening, I will absolutely not fulfill your wish.”
“Are you alright?” Mu Anxiao found Ouyang Ye’s words baffling.
Ouyang Ye was serious. “I’m fine. In any case,” he reached out and placed his hand on Mu Anxiao’s shoulder, “I will not let you have your way.”
“You are determined to erase Feng Qishi’s memories, aren’t you?” Mu Anxiao glanced down at Ouyang Ye’s single hand and asked.
Ouyang Ye nodded.
Mu Anxiao also nodded, then pushed Ouyang Ye’s hand away and continued nodding. “Fine, I understand.” She said, turning around.
Seeing this, Ouyang Ye’s heart sank. He asked, “Where are you going?”
“To find Feng Qishi and tell him that I’m willing to perish with him.” Mu Anxiao said, taking a step forward.
“You’re crazy.” Ouyang Ye said anxiously, quickly running forward and circling in front of Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao stopped, looked up at Ouyang Ye, and snorted coldly. “I am crazy,” she said, her eyes vacant. “If he loses his memory, then everything I’ve done in the past will be in vain. Since that’s the case, I might as well die with him. Then, nothing will matter. How good would that be.”
“He’s that important to you.”
“There are many, many people who are important to me. But,” Mu Anxiao said, stepping back and dodging Ouyang Ye’s outstretched hand, “you are not one of them.”
“You…”
“Of course, I was gradually starting to change my opinion of you, but with the way you’re acting, I won’t have any good feelings for you anymore, unless…” Mu Anxiao stopped speaking, her eyes narrowing.
Ouyang Ye’s eyes deepened. “Unless you let Feng Qishi go, right.”
Mu Anxiao nodded.
Ouyang Ye gave a cold laugh. “You came here just to talk to me about this.”
“Yes.” Mu Anxiao knew that Ouyang Ye disliked beating around the bush the most. Therefore, before coming here, she had thought of many possibilities. In the end, after a series of ‘filters,’ she chose to be direct.
Ouyang Ye smiled.
Mu Anxiao crossed her arms, truly unable to understand Ouyang Ye. However, to achieve her goal, she also began to smile along with Ouyang Ye. “What, you still don’t want to agree to my request?”
“Fine, I’ll listen to you.” Ouyang Ye suddenly said.
Mu Anxiao looked stunned. “Really?”
“I can find another way to test him.”
“What way?” Mu Anxiao was curious.
Ouyang Ye had a mysterious expression. “You don’t need to know that.” He said, walking around Mu Anxiao.
Then, Mu Anxiao quickly turned around and asked, “What about the wedding attire?” She suddenly became curious about the whereabouts of the wedding attire.
“Don’t worry, it wasn’t thrown away.” Ouyang Ye replied and walked into the study, the door closing automatically.
Mu Anxiao saw this, excitedly clenched her fist, and ran away.
Inside.
Ouyang Ye stood in front of the door, tilting his head slightly to look at the door. Then, thinking about Mu Anxiao’s appearance just now, he said coldly, “You did that on purpose.” He glanced towards the desk.
“I knew you would say that.” Mo Juan emerged from behind the curtain and looked at Ouyang Ye.
Ouyang Ye placed his hands behind his back. “Don’t do this again in the future.”
“I know.” Mo Juan said, coming up to Ouyang Ye. She asked, “Ye, you’re really not going to erase Feng Qishi’s memories?”
“Mu Anxiao cannot die. For her, I cannot do that.” Ouyang Ye said in a low voice.
Mo Juan responded, “Alright.” Her heart leaped with joy.
